Kapuskasing Inn Demolition (No Audio)

The Kapuskasing Inn was built by Spruce Falls Company Ltd. in 1928 in the Neo-Tudor Style. The building was an iconic landmark in the town for almost 80 years - a place where many residents celebrated weddings, graduation parties, and other milestones. Its most famous guests were Prince Phillip and (then) Princess Elizabeth, who visited in 1951. A portrait with their signatures used to be displayed in the lobby of the Inn.

Over the years, the ownership changed several times, and eventually the building reached a state of limbo and disrepair. In the early hours of May 22nd, 2007, the building caught fire and was gutted in a matter of hours. Minors were said to have set the fire, but no charges were laid, because they were below the age of criminal responsibility at the time.

For over a year, the building sat in limbo once more, until it was determined that the Inn was no longer structurally sound and it was slated for demolition.

Demolition began earlier this week, and this video was taken with the progress about half complete.

Highland Pines Campground & Cottage Resort - Full Tour & Review - Lake Belwood, Ontario

Are you looking for a place to put down Summer roots? Are you looking to get the cottage country experience for significantly less cost and a shorter drive? Do you have a young family who loves outdoor amenities and family friendly activities? If you answered yes to any of these questions than the Highland Pines Campground & Cottage Resort on the shores of Lake Belwood, just outside of Fergus, Ontario is definitely worth a look.

Our family has been a seasonal resident there since mid 2021 and we can honestly say that the value in terms of what you get at Highland Pines can't be beat.

Erin Duffy, a sales rep at the park graciously came along for the ride and helped answer questions that commonly come up among people new to the park, and to the RV Resort experience.

You can contact Erin Duffy for your own personalized tour of the park below:
Email: eduffy@highlandpines.com
Phone: 705-305-9984

Note/Disclaimer: I offered to create this video for the park because I wanted to share what Highland Pines has to offer to people unfamiliar with this seasonal resort model. I was not compensated or paid by the park in anyway. I thought it would be an interesting project and allow me to create some content different than what I am used to making. At the time of production I also had our original cottage for sale (we moved to our 2nd cottage at HP) and I thought this video would be ideal to show potential buyers.
