JingDeZhen Continued (San Bao) | JaYoe Travelogue | Chapter 9

A surprise second day in Jingdezhen. My new friend wanted me to stick around another day so that he could show me a bit more of his home. He showed me where he works and some things that make Jingdezhen, his hometown, a special place.

He took me one place in particular, San Bao Ceramic. A very interesting place that mixes the culture and history of the Chinese ceramic industry with a bit of western influence.

traveling alone, seeing ceramics + getting tattooed in jingdezhen | china vlog

hi! filmed this little bb at the end of july. jingdezhen is my favorite city in china and this solo trip was so special to me.

taoxichuan’s night market is friday and saturday night from 7-10pm. i recommend checking out the art museum of the ceramic art institution (free!) and the ceramic avenue art gallery. the tattoo shop i went to is called chun tattoo.

in the sculpture factory you can stop at the student market on saturday morning (very well curated!) and also see some DIY stands popped up outside. v punk rock. it’s a good place for a latte (at the pottery workshop coffee shop!) and a walk. lots to see and i recommend spending your saturday here! older ceramicists pop up outside of the hostel on sunday morning.

you also see me check out the ancient kiln folk customs museum. it’s a several hour excursion (three minimum but honestly you could spend more time there!) and requires a lot of walking but you can’t miss it!

after my tattoo appointment i checked out the museum of porcelain. it’s free when you check in with your passport or chinese ID! it has the most comprehensive collection of porcelain i saw in jingdezhen and much of the museum is in english.

my last stop was at the sanbao gallery. it’s easy to get lost in this area so do some research before you hop in a didi! it’s a cool area to walk through and see pieces unlike anything else in jingdezhen.
