Is CHINA really what you think? Join me on my first day exploring Shanghai to find out the truth. Given the news headlines about government surveillance and tension with other countries, I was nervous about visiting China. However, I wanted to experience the real China for myself beyond the media narratives. So I flew to Shanghai with an open mind. And what I discovered surprised me.
I went to China on a 144-hour transit visa, which I will talk about in detail in my video. I found Shanghai an advanced, green city with kind people, tasty food, and awesome infrastructure like the maglev bullet train. While there are certainly political issues in China worth discussing, on a human level most locals I met were welcoming and simply living normal lives - working hard and enjoying time with family and friends.
Overall, Shanghai felt safe, convenient and modern with cutting-edge technology everywhere. From mobile payments to ubiquitous electric vehicles, China seems ahead of much of the world in innovation. Yes, personal freedoms and certain websites/apps are restricted in China relative to Western countries. But Shanghai hardly felt oppressed given the vibrant street life and economic prosperity on display.
This video takes you along on my eye-opening first day in Shanghai. See the maglev train, famous skyline views, street markets and more while I share honest impressions about daily life and Chinese culture. China surprised me - and it may surprise you too!

4K Walking tours in Summer Palace West Episode 3|The best Chinese imperial garden(颐和园西第三集)
It's a 4K walking tour across Summer Palace Episode 3 - 颐和园. It's probably the best remained imperial garden. The place locates in Beijing, Haidian District. It is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens, and it was an imperial garden in the Qing dynasty. Mainly dominated by Longevity Hill (万寿山; 萬壽山; Wànshòu Shān) and Kunming Lake, it covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometers (1.1 sq mi), three-quarters of which is water.
The trail started at the North Palace Gate, and I visited most of the West part of the Summer Palace. The views cover Kunming lake, West lake, and South lake. I tried a lot of hidden paths and often go off the trail. The Summer Palace is too large to visit in a half day, and you better pump up your visiting time for it. Each season, you can discover a different Summer Palace and it is worthwhile to visit it multiple times at a different time or try a different trail. Anyway, if you want to check out how Summer Palace (颐和园) looks like check out this video.
The trail in details listed at below:
North Palace Gate→Suzhou Street→Linbiao Bridge→Jiehu Bridge→Binfeng Bridge→Ancient Mulberries→Yudai Bridge→West Lake trail→Changguan Hall→Trail near Jingmiyinshui Canal→West Dyke→Jingming Building→Lian Bridge→Jing Bridge→Go back to Yudai Bridge→Shuicun House→Ancient Willows→Ship-shape Dock→Back to North Palace Gate

Beijing is the current capital of China and one of its ancient capitals. The name Beijing means Northern Capital. Beijing is also known as Peking. Beijing was established as the capital of China in the Yuan dynasty in the thirteenth century when the Mongols conquered China and wanted to establish a capital nearer their own homelands. The capital moved to Nanjing after the end of the Mongol reign, but the emperors of the Ming Dynasty soon returned the capital to Beijing, where it remained throughout the Ming and Qing Dynasties until the beginning of the Republic of China in 1912. Much of the basic layout of the city and many of the major sites were first established in the Ming Dynasty, though most of the surviving buildings date back to the Qing Dynasty.
Most obvious is the Great Wall (Changcheng), the Forbidden City (Gugong), The Temple of Heaven (Tiantan), the Summer Palace (Yiheyuan), Lama Temple (Yonghegong), Tiananmen Square, and the traditional courtyard homes along the alleyways or hutongs. It's an unforgettable experience! Use this city walking tour to go to this fascinating city right now! Enjoy this city walking tour and experience the beauty of cities in China!
I have been living all over the world from the USA to China, to Canada. In this channel, I will try my best to preserve the real-life look in each city, country. Well, admittedly, the world is definitely too big to stay in one place, but life is too short to see this world. So, let spend sometimes to see a completely different world, and experience a different life.

【4K】Virtual Tour - The Summer Palace Western Embankment | Guide Beijing in Depth 北京頤和園西堤的橋 (ENG Sub)
【4K】virtual travel Guide Beijing | Series of Beijing Stories - The bridges on the West Embankment (Western Dam)of The Summer Palace
The Summer Palace (simplified Chinese: 颐和园; traditional Chinese: 頤和園; pinyin: Yíhéyuán) is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens, and palaces in Beijing. It was an imperial garden in the Qing dynasty. Inside includes Longevity Hill (万寿山; 萬壽山; Wànshòu Shān) Kunming Lake and Seventeen Hole Bridge. It covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometers (1.1 sq mi), three-quarters of which is water.
Today I will introduce the bridges on the Western Dam of The Summer Palace:
Lake Dividing Bridge (界湖桥; 界湖橋; Jièhúqiáo): The bridge that separates Kunming Lake from the northern lake.
Jade Belt Bridge (玉带桥; 玉帶橋; Yùdàiqiáo)
Binfeng Bridge (豳风桥; 豳風橋; Bīnfēngqiáo)
Jingming Tower (景明楼; 景明樓; Jǐngmínglóu): It was destroyed by the British and French in 1860 and was restored only in 1992. It was designed to imitate Yueyang Tower.
Mirror Bridge (镜桥; 鏡橋; Jìngqiáo)
White Silk Bridge (练桥; 練橋; Liànqiáo)
Willow Bridge (柳桥; 柳橋; Liǔqiáo): Located most south of the western dam.
The art of Chinese gardens requires the art form of water flowing beneath a little bridge. This is why bridges are inevitable in the construction of gardens, especially in the Summer Palace, a famous royal garden. It is said that during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, he traveled all over the South of the Yangtze River and could not let go of his love for the South, so he built the West Embankment in the capital, imitating the West Lake Su Causeway. It was built in the northern region to suit the local conditions, so it is like the water town of Jiangnan and has the natural landscape scenery of royalty.
The west embankment from south to north is Willow Bridge, Jingming Building, Nameless Bridge, Lian Bridge, Mirror Bridge, Jade Belt Bridge, Binfeng Bridge, and Jiehu Bridge in that order. Among them, Jingming Building and Nameless Bridge are not included in the six bridges of the west embankment. These bridges also escaped the fire of 1860 because most of them were stone bridges, but the wooden pavilions were basically burned. During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty and after the founding of China, some of the bridges were added and rebuilt, resulting in dozens of bridges remaining in the Summer Palace today. Along the west embankment, peach and willow are planted, willows are green and peach red in spring, which is known as Jiangnan of the North. There are still 19 ancient willows on the embankment that are more than 100 years old.
The West Embankment is only about 20 paces wide and 3,000 paces long, but it records the humiliation in the modern history of the Chinese nation, shows the peacefulness and happiness of the powerful Chinese nation, reproduces the tranquil beauty of Jiangnan, unites the extraordinary wisdom of ancient craftsmen, concentrates the essence of Chinese culture, and elaborates the harmonious thought of the unity of heaven and man.

My Biggest Mistake in China? | Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in China's Hunan Province is known to be one of the most stunningly beautiful places in the world - a UNESCO World Heritage Site that inspired the movie Avatar with its more than 3,000 sandstone pillars and peaks, some higher than 200 meters/660 feet. Unfortunately, my adventures in the Avatar Mountains with its glass bridge and grand canyon and Tianzi Mountain didn't go as planned...Around the 3:50 mark, I talk about how my friends and I have been rethinking our framing around regret and 'bad' decision making. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that or anything else in the video!
