This video is all about the beautiful country that is the province of Negros Occidental Philippines.
Adventures of Gerald and Rhia honors and pays reverence and tribute to this great province. We are staying true to our love for travel as main inspirations that led to the creation our channel that aims to explore and document life's wonders.
Negros Island was originally called “Buglas”, an old native word that is thought to mean “cut-off.”
It is believed that Negros was once part of a greater mass of land but was cut off either by what geologists all a continental drift or by rising waters during the so-called glacial age. Among its earliest inhabitants were dark-skinned natives belonging to the Negrito ethnic group with their unique culture. Thus, the Spaniards called the land “Negros” after the black natives whom they saw when they first came to the island in April 1565. Two of the earliest native settlements were Binalbagan and Ilog, that later became towns in 1573 and 1584, respectively. Other settlements were Hinigaran, Bago, Marayo (now Pontevedra), Mamalan (now Himamaylan) and Candaguit (now a sitio in San Enrique).
After appointing encomenderos in the island, Miguel Lopez de Legaspi placed Negros under the jurisdiction of the governor of Oton in Panay. In 1734, however, the island became a military district and Ilog was made its first capital. The seat of government was later transferred to Himamaylan and thereafter Bacolod became the capital in 1849.
The island remained a military district up to about the middle of the 19th century. Then in 1865, Negros Occidental was raised to the category of a politico-military province. During this time, several more towns were established like San Carlos and Calatrava.
Religious orders evangelized the province by turns: the Augustinians, Recollects, Jesuits, Dominicans, Seculars and again, the Recollects returning in the 1800s.
Negros Occidental is located in the western side of Negros Island, the fourth largest island in the Philippines with a total land area of 792,607 hectares or 7,926.06 sq. kms.
The province is approximately 375 kilometers long from north to south. It is bounded by the Visayan Sea in the north, Panay Gulf on the west, Tanon Strait and Negros Oriental province on the east and Sulu Sea on the south. Negros is basically volcanic, making its soil ideal for agriculture. Eighty percent of all arable land is cultivated.

A historic bridge that was converted into a beautiful park and is named after one of Hinigaran’s famous sons, Sen. Espiridion S. Guanco, which straddles the Hinigaran River is a beautiful place to view the sun setting on the horizon. The bridge, which measures 144 meters long and 6 meters wide, was constructed in year 1927 through the effort of Senator Espiridion S. Guanco and Mayorship of Narciso Gayares.

Canonoy Beach Resort is located at Barangay Sitio Canonoy, Hinigaran Negros Occidental. It is a 45 minutes’ drive away from Bacolod City, Philippines, using private transportation.
Hinigaran is a first-class municipality and currently hosts numerous beach and swimming pool resorts.
Accommodation at Canonoy Beach Resort:
The resort has several varieties of overnight cottages, shade houses and recreational activities guests can enjoy during their stay. Overnight cottages are available on both Phase 1 and 2.
You can either stay in Phase 1 where it deals more affordable services. Otherwise you can also enjoy the luxury of life in Phase 2 where you can swim either at the beach or in a junior olympic size pool with a children's swimming pool on the side.
Hotel Facilities and Services:
One can bring a portable stove or charcoal if they wish to cook their own food. If guests opt to stay Canonoy Beach Resort for a day tour only, food is available at the resort restaurant. Although when visiting on weekends, one needs to order out. The restaurant can only accept minimum orders as they rely on a regular gas stove.
When on the beach, everything seems to go slowly and everybody understands unless you’re hungry from traveling! It is best that upon arrival you order food first, check Canonoy Beach Resort out and then go back to the restaurant when your food is ready.
Canonoy Beach Resort also has a Function Hall which caters seminars, weddings, or birthday functions.

A DAY IN MY LIFE AT HINIGARAN | KID'S NATURE DAY
Hello everyone!
Showing you some of our daily activities with the kids.
We live in Sitio Pahilanga, Brgy. Miranda, Muicipality of Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, Philippines.
We often go to the beach because it is just near our place. It is actually walking distance from home going to the beach but because kids wants to go there early, we just took the car going there.
School is also near or home so getting and returning learning modules is just 5 minutes away.
In the afternoon, we go to the backyard to check on our plants and also pick ripe fruits and veggies.
Most of the time, at 6 pm, rain is heavy during September to December or even until February next year.
RIDE AND EAT BACOLOD CITY TO HINIGARAN / BIKING VLOG / NEGROS OCCIDENTAL
If you want to bike ride consider bacolod to hinigaran its a 45 kms away , you can relax to their beach and eat newly catch fresh fish and Talaba. Thank you for watching
