WIGAN TOWN UK | MANCHESTER | UNITED KINGDOM | DJI AIR 2

Wigan was in the territory of the Brigantes, an ancient Celtic tribe that ruled much of what is now northern England. The Brigantes were subjugated in the Roman conquest of Britain and the Roman settlement of Coccium was established where Wigan lies.

Wigan was incorporated as a borough in 1246, following the issue of a charter by King Henry III of England. At the end of the Middle Ages, it was one of four boroughs in Lancashire established by Royal charter.

The Industrial Revolution saw a dramatic economic expansion and rapid rise in population. Wigan became a major mill town and coal mining district; at its peak, there were 1,000 pit shafts within 5 miles (8 km) of the town centre.[3][4] Coal mining ceased in the later 20th century.

Wigan Pier, a wharf on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, was made famous by the writer George Orwell. In his book The Road to Wigan Pier, Orwell highlighted the poor working and living conditions of inhabitants in the 1930s. Following the decline of heavy industry, Wigan Pier's warehouses and wharves became a local heritage centre and cultural quarter. The DW Stadium is home to Wigan Athletic Football Club and Wigan Warriors Rugby League Football Club.

A Walk around Wigan

A beautiful town that I'd never been to before. Lots of construction happening right now, so it's a place of transition. Maybe I'll go back and see what it looks like after all the work is done.

🇦🇺 South Australia nightlife, Adelaide / Sunday walk 2023 [4K] / Hindley street

Today we're exploring South Australia night life. Night walk in Adelaide, Hindley street and downtown, bars, restaurants, clubs and happy people. I've got the feeling that I am exploring the UK nightlife.

Why Adelaide people sound British? There's a theory that the state's first European inhabitants — who were free settlers, not convicts — may have caused more proper or British pronunciations to stick around.

Adelaide is the best place to start your Australia adventure. With a modern bustling city framed by sandy beaches and vine-dotted hills, and a region packed with unique wildlife, great food and wine, and stunning national parks South Australia offers an incredible range of holiday experiences.

Adelaide is a city where people still greet you on the street without knowing you and very easily create friendly relationships with their neighbours.

city?
Adelaide is famed as the '20-minute city' since almost everything is just 20 minutes away from the city centre – including the beaches.

Visiting Wigan Town in Greater Manchester, England ||Fairy Glen Forest Area

Wigan is a large town in Greater Manchester, England, on the River Douglas. The town is midway between the two cities of Manchester, 16 miles to the south-east, and Liverpool, 17 miles to the south-west.

Places to see in ( Manchester - UK ) Market Street

Places to see in ( Manchester - UK ) Market Street

Market Street is one of the principal retail streets in Manchester, England. It runs from its junction with Piccadilly and Mosley Street, close to Piccadilly Gardens, in the east to where it meets St. Mary's Gate at the crossroads with Exchange Street and New Cathedral Street in the west. St Mary's Gate then continues to where it meets Deansgate (A56). Other major streets crossed are High Street, Corporation Street (on the north side), Cross Street and Fountain Street (on the south side).

Market Street in Manchester, once known as Market Stead Lane, lies along the former route of the A6 road which goes from Luton, Bedfordshire, to Carlisle, Cumbria. The A6 arrives at Manchester city centre as London Road and formerly went north-west along Piccadilly, Market Street, St. Mary's Gate and Blackfriars Street and then over the River Irwell to Blackfriars Street, Salford. But since the pedestrianisation of Market Street the A6 disappears at the junction of Piccadilly and Oldham Street to reemerge in Salford as Chapel Street.

The entirety of modern Market Street is a pedestrian zone with motor vehicle access limited to the emergency services, maintenance workers and deliveries to the adjacent shops. The south-eastern end of the street also contains a Metrolink tram stop.

Starting in the east at Piccadilly/Mosley Street, the street shares its space equally between pedestrian walkways and two Metrolink tram lines. Standing on opposite sides of the tram lines loom the imposing edifices of two large department stores belonging to Debenhams (formerly Ryland's and Paulden's) to the north and Primark (formerly Lewis's department store, 1877-2001) to the south. Moving west, the street crosses Fountain Street and High Street where the tram lines turn away towards the north.

With the removal of the tram lines, Market Street becomes an entirely pedestrian zone bustling with shoppers. Dominating the entire north side of this section is the Manchester Arndale Centre, an indoor shopping complex. A large variety of shops of various sizes line the south side of the street.

Throughout the pedestrian zone there can often be found a large number of street traders and entertainers. Such entertainers have in the past included traditional buskers, bagpipes players and even string quartets.

Reaching the end of the Arndale Centre, the street crosses Corporation Street and Cross Street, ceasing to be a pedestrian zone and continues on to end where it meets St. Mary's Gate at the crossroads with Exchange Street and New Cathedral Street. This western section of Market Street is lined with the Marks & Spencer department store on its north side and another series of smaller shops to the south.

( Manchester - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Manchester . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Manchester - UK

Sawday's Canopy & Stars is an inspected and selected collection of outdoor holiday experiences with a dash of eco-panache; treehouses, hay lofts, Gypsy caravans, converted horsetrucks and all sorts of glamping oddness. There's even an Iron Age roundhouse or two! Call us on 0117 204 7830 or visit

A soothing journey through Bolton, United Kingdom

Whether you’re indoors or outdoors, this is the season of bliss, as you enter a new year full of warmth. Ah, winter! Doesn't it have its own unique charm? Oh, in fact, winter is not even just a season, it's an emotion altogether!

We peep outside the window, and it’s a clear cold morning, even the sun seems too lazy to rise! We then see a curtain of fog hanging low, suspended over the fresh green grass, shining with the sunlight that's reflected by the dew. Now it's getting late, so we somehow pull ourselves out of our bundle of joy and prepare for a cozy day, with cardigans and those handknit furry socks and hand-mittens. Ah, we can feel the howling wind slicing the air. We have no option but to grab a hot cuppa, in the meagre balmy sunlight and feel like doing nothing, just hanging around, like the fog itself.

Or catch up on that book we've always wanted to read, or why not, sit down and write one ourself? Golden sunlight seems to melt the rosy chill at some places and all the friends are clamoring to get sun-baked in that coveted spot. Oh My God! What a terrific scene it would be.

Well, tell you what? Winter has not arrived yet, but who can stop us from reliving the amazing season, through this video!
