भदोही शहर उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य का एक जिला है | इस जिले का मुख्यालय ज्ञानपुर में है ,पहले यह जिला वाराणसी में था | भदोही जिला प्रयागराज और वाराणसी के बीच में है | यह जिला प्रयागराज ,जौनपुर ,वाराणसी तथा मिर्जापुर की सीमाओं से लगा हुआ है | दोस्तों यह जिला विश्व भर में कालीन उद्योग के लिए विश्व प्रसिद्ध है ,यहां का दूसरा रोजगार कृषि है | भदोही जिला को क्षेत्रफल की दृष्टि से छोटे जिले में गिना जाता है | इस जिले को 30 जून 1994 में उत्तर प्रदेश की 64 जिले के रूप में घोषित किया गया | कुछ समय बाद मायावती की सरकार ने भदोही जिले का नाम “संत रविदास नगर” रख दिया ,लेकिन जब समाजवादी पार्टी की सरकार उत्तर प्रदेश में आई तो मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश यादव ने फिर से 6 दिसंबर 2014 को “संत रविदास नगर” को पुनः “भदोही” नाम रख दिया | भदोही जिला विश्व भर में “कारपेट सिटी” के नाम से विख्यात है |

मिर्जापुर भारत के उत्तर प्रदेश में एक शहर है, दिल्ली और कोलकाता दोनों से लगभग 650 किमी, इलाहाबाद से लगभग 87 किलोमीटर और वाराणसी से 67 किलोमीटर दूर है। इसकी 2,496,970 की आबादी है, जिसमें से पुरुष और महिला क्रमशः 1,312,302 और 1,184,668 थीं (माध्यम-जनगणना2011)। यह अपने कालीनों और ब्रासवेयर उद्योगों के लिए जाना जाता है।
मिर्जापुर जिले का इतिहास चुनार किले से हैं।
इस किले का निर्माण सोलहवीं शताब्दी में उज्जैन के राजा विक्रमादित्य ने अपने भाई राजा भरथरी के लिए करवाया था। मिथक यह बताते हैं कि राजा भरथरी ने इस किले में महासमाधि ली थी। इसके बाद मुगलकाल के दौरान, भारत में मुग़ल वंश का स्थापक बाबर यहाँ आया।
1735 ईसवी में लार्ड मर्क्यूरियस वेलेस्ले नाम के एक अँगरेज़ अफसर ने इस क्षेत्र की स्थापना मिर्ज़ापुर नाम से की।

भारत की धार्मिक नगरी काशी से 61 किमी की दूरी पर स्थित मिर्ज़ापुर उत्तर प्रदेश का एक महत्वपूर्ण शहर है, जो सांस्कृतिक, ऐतिहासिक और प्राकृतिक रूप से बहुत ज्यादा मायने रखता है। यहां की कुदरती सौंदर्यता और धार्मिक परिवेश बड़ी संख्या में देश-विदेश के पर्यटकों को आकर्षित करते हैं। पर्यटन की दृष्टि से मिर्जापुर एक आदर्श स्थल है, मिर्जापुर जिला मिर्जापुर डिवीजन का एक हिस्सा है।
यह जिला विंध्याचल में विंध्यवासिनी मंदिर के लिए जाना जाता है। इसमें कई घाट शामिल हैं जहां ऐतिहासिक मूर्तियां अभी भी मौजूद हैं। गंगा उत्सव के दौरान इन घाटों को रोशनी और दीयों से सजाया जाता है। यह वर्तमान में रेड कॉरिडोर का एक हिस्सा है।मिर्ज़ापुर गंगा के किनारे स्थित है। आप गंगा घाटों में एक शांत शाम का आनंद ले सकते हैं। मिर्जापुर के घाट वाराणसी और इलाहाबाद के गंगा घाटों की तुलना में अपेक्षाकृत शांत हैं।
कई रिकॉर्ड किए गए तथ्यों के अनुसार, मिर्ज़ापुर की स्थापना ब्रिटिश ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी ने 1735 में की थी, मिर्जापुर शहर कालीन बनाने, मिट्टी के बर्तनों, खिलौनों और पीतल के बर्तनों को बनाने के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। और यह सब मिर्जापुर की सैर पर आने वाले पर्यटकों के लिए आकर्षण का केन्द्र है।
