Xuchang, known as Xuzhou in ancient times, is a prefecture-level city in Henan Province, a regional central city in the Central Plains City Group, a transportation and logistics hub city in the Central Plains Economic Zone, an important national advanced manufacturing base, and a famous historical and cultural city of the Han Dynasty and Wei Dynasty, as approved by the Henan Provincial Government. It is located in the central part of Henan Province, adjacent to Zhoukou City in the east, Luohe City in the south, Pingdingshan City in the west, Zhengzhou City in the north, and Kaifeng City in the northeast; it has 2 districts, 2 cities (county level), and 2 counties under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 4,996 square kilometers [60]. According to the seventh census, the resident population of Xuchang was 4,379,998 as of 00:00 on November 1, 2020 .
Located in the Central Plains, Xuchang has a long history and is an important birthplace of Chinese culture, one of the core cities of the Central Plains City Cluster and the Central Plains Economic Zone . The ancient cultures of Xuchang include the prehistoric culture series, the Han culture series, the Three Kingdoms culture series, the temple architecture culture series, and the Jun porcelain culture series.
Downtown Xuchang is 80 km from the provincial capital Zhengzhou and 50 km from Xinzheng International Airport, with National Highway 311 and local railroads running east to west; Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, and National Highway 107 running north to south; it is a regional political, economic, and cultural center in central Henan Province, and occupies an important position in the economic and social development of Henan Province. On December 19, 2019, Xuchang was selected as a national pilot zone for urban-rural integration and development.

Nanminghe Bridge is one of the few large beam bridges on the mountainous Guiping East Guiyang Ring Road Expressway in Guizhou Province. The central pier of 175 meters is tied for the third tallest cantilevered beam pier in Guizhou Province along with the Tongzihe Bridge Erlangxiang and the Erhaihe Bridge. The Hezhang Bridge has the tallest Guizhou beam bridge pier at 195 meters and the Qingchi Bridge has a pier 176 meters tall.

Pier 8 of the Nanming River Bridge on the Guiyang-Pingtang Expressway was topped out on 2024 Jan 20.
This remarkable feat was accomplished 10 days ahead of schedule, laying a solid foundation for the full opening of the expressway.
The Nanming River Bridge stands as one of the pivotal engineering marvels of the expressway. It spans a total length of 1,129.8 meters, with a maximum span of 180 meters. It has a towering height of 175 meters, and its foundation piles are 45 meters deep. It is slated for completion and connection by the end of January 2025.
To safeguard the environment beneath the bridge, we have implemented a three-tier sedimentation system within the bridge structure. explained Zhu Can, a technical personnel of the expressway construction project.

On October 23, 2024, the main pier with a maximum height of 175 meters of the Nanming River Bridge on the Guiping Expressway, constructed by Guizhou Highway Group, was successfully capped.
At 14:35 that afternoon, with the completion of the pouring of the last concrete mold, the Nanming River Bridge of the Guiping Expressway, which was constructed by the Sixth Engineering Co., Ltd. of Guizhou Highway Group, was successfully capped, 10 days ahead of schedule, and the construction has made significant progress. The Guiyang-Pingtang Expressway is an important section of the Guiyang-Beihai Expressway in the National Highway Network Plan, an important part of the Western Land-Sea Corridor, and the most convenient passage from Guiyang to Nanning.
The project starts from Yangchang, Wudang, Guiyang, passes through Guiding, Longli, Pingtang, and ends at Yunyangguan, the border between Guizhou and Guangxi, connecting to the Tian'e to Beihai Expressway under construction. The total length is about 174 kilometers, with a total investment of 39.2089 billion yuan. It is built according to the standards of a two-way six-lane expressway with a design speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

当天下午14时35分，随着最后一模混凝土浇筑完成，由贵州公路集团第六工程有限公司承建的贵平高速公路南明河特大桥8号主墩顺利封顶，比计划工期提前了10天，施工取得重大进展。 贵（阳）平（塘）高速公路是《国家公路网规划》贵阳至北海高速公路重要路段，是西部陆海走廊重要组成部分，也是贵阳至南宁最便捷通道。
该项目起于贵阳乌当羊昌，经贵定、龙里、平塘，止于黔桂省界云阳关顺接在建天峨至北海高速公路。全长约174公里，总投资392.089亿元，按双向六车道高速公路标准建设，设计速度每小时100公里。邓刚摄

Heavy rains caused flash floods in Guangxi, China on June 12th 2022.
Residents were stranded as water filled streets, making travel impossible.
Emergency services used boats to provide aid to trapped citizens.
Power cuts were reported as electrical cables were damaged.
Above the areas affected was Guiping City, with reports that flood gates were opened near the city.
