La Guaira Travel Video - After the founding of Caracas by Spanish in 1567, toward the turn of the 16th century, the Port of La Guaira emerged on the coast and, since that time, has been the gateway to Caracas. This coastal city, almost without land to develop and bathed by the Caribbean Sea, became an important harbour during the 18th century. Attacked by buccaneers and by the English, Dutch, and French armadas, La Guaira was transformed into a fortified, walled city.
During the War of Jenkins Ear (1739--1748), the first attack of the Royal Navy took place on La Guaira. This period also saw the trading monopoly of the Royal Gipuzkoan Company of Caracas, which controlled the major ports of La Guaira and Puerto Cabello and was instrumental in the development of large-scale cocoa production along the valleys of the coast. The English frigate HMS Hermione (1782) was delivered to the Spanish authorities at La Guaira after her crew mutinied in 1797. Another small naval battle was fought off La Guaira in 1812, between privateers of the United States and the United Kingdom. Now La Guaira is the second port by importance in Venezuela after Puerto Cabello.

Canaima - A large national park, protected by UNISEC, where the majority table mountains are formed. Home to a beautiful lagoon surrounded by waterfalls, plus the tallest in the world, Angel falls.

Un paseo por el bello estado Vargas, donde encontraras hermosas playas, gente agradable, deliciosa comida y un sinfin de actividades a realizar.
La Guaira es la capital del estado Vargas, Venezuela. Se encuentra ubicada al centro-norte de Venezuela a 30 km de la ciudad de Caracas, capital del país caribeño. El clima es tropical árido, con un promedio anual de 28 °C y menos de 200 mm de precipitaciones anuales. La altitud de La Guaira es de 4 msnm, su latitud de 10º 36' 00 N y su longitud de 66º 55' 59 O. La ciudad posee más de 200 mil habitantes pero la parroquia La Guaira solo posee 20.274 habitantes según estimaciones de 2018. Vargas ofrece 120 km de un litoral sorprendente por su diversidad, donde se alternan playas paradisíacas de arena blanca, ideales para el disfrute familiar, con costas vírgenes muy rocosas azotadas por el viento y el fuerte oleaje del mar Caribe. Por su cercanía con Caracas, Vargas constituye un área natural para el turismo capitalino.

The altitude of La Guaira is 4 meters above sea level, its latitude is 10º 36' 00 N and its longitude is 66º 55' 59 W. The city has more than 200 thousand inhabitants but the parish of La Guaira only has 20,274 inhabitants according to 2018 estimates. Vargas offers 120 km of a surprising coastline for its diversity, where paradisiacal white sand beaches alternate, ideal for family enjoyment, with very rocky virgin coasts whipped by the wind and the strong waves of the Caribbean Sea. Due to its proximity to Caracas, Vargas is a natural area for tourism in the capital.
POCAS PERSONAS CONOCEN ESTA ZONA DEL ÁVILA 😮 | RUTA GÁRATE
En esta oportunidad decidí ir a una ruta que no es tan conocida por todos los que visitamos el Parque Nacional Warairarepano (Mejor conocido como El Ávila), esta es Gárate, un destino a cual llegas a través de un camino de tierra desde la población de Caucagüita, que conduce al sector agrícola de La Culebrilla (1430 msnm). Ahí colocaremos nuestras carpas, al lado de la casa de la señora Julia, ya que será nuestro campamento base para el tiempo que estemos en la montaña. Desde ese punto se puede acceder a diversidad de rutas que llevan a varias Cascadas de la zona, las cuales son impresionantes y poco concurridas de personas.
La guiatura de esta ruta fue gracias a los amigos del Grupo de Excursionistas de los Altos Mirandinos (GEAMIR).
