5 Top-Rated Attractions & Places to Visit in Rhode Island

5 Top-Rated Tourist Attractions in Rhode Island
.
For such a small state, Little Rhody is packed with some of New England's most popular tourist attractions. Newport, America's best-known playground for the super-rich in the halcyon days of the early 20th century, is the state's major draw, with its fabled mansions built to rival (and often imitate) the grand palaces of European royalty.
But Providence, too, is filled with the history of an earlier period, when its merchants grew rich on the slave trade and other lucrative commerce. Add miles of beautiful beaches – Rhode Island has an extensive shoreline – a rich industrial history, and an idyllic island, and you'll see why Rhode Island should be on any New England itinerary.
You and your family will find lots of places to go and things to do in our video of the top tourist attractions in Rhode Island.

Salt Lake City Things To Do

This episode is for the WOW Air Travel Guide contest, around Salt Lake City Utah.

Not only have I been traveling on my own since I was 16 years old, I have also traveled regularly with family & friends, even being invited on colleagues' family vacations. I have been told for years by many that I have a knack for playing travel guide. Without fail, I attract some crazy instance (small or bigger) on every adventure I go on. I've been to 43 countries and all but 5 states in the US of A. Last year, I traveled to 7 countries and 17 states for just under $5000. Each time I met up with old friends over the past 12 months, they would ask me how I could travel so much and tell me I should teach the secrets of my thrifty traveling. I finally bought my first camera a few months ago and began filming. I have been videoing my tips & adventures ever since. Each episode comes out on Thursday.

The Ghost Town of Grantsville, Nye County, Nevada...part-1

Gold was discovered in Grantsville Canyon around 1863. By 1879 the town had a population of around 800, and boasted 2 general merchandise stores, a hardware and tin shop, a livery stable, blacksmith shop, two barber shops, a jewelry store, two assay offices, a bank, furniture store, two drug stores, and a fine restaurant, and of course, up to twelve saloons. The town also had a series of three newspapers. Grantsville lasted until about 1885.

In 1907, a prospector by the name of Bob Hanchett showed up in Grantsville and salted a tunnel there with gold dust. As word of a strike spread, about 30-40 prospectors who were mostly grubstaked, flocked to Grantsville. The news of the discovery attracted business people of all types, including a saloon operator and three girls who decided to open a brothel there.

It wasn't long before the prospectors concluded that the tunnel had been salted, they spent their days in the saloon until their grubstakes ran out and then they moved on. The boom proved a disappointment for the girls and when their brothel burned down, they too moved on.
