White-haired Goldenrod in Red River Gorge
White-haired goldenrod only grows in rock shelters in Red River Gorge.
In 1988, the white-haired goldenrod was listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Disturbance and trampling from dispersed camping, hiking, rock climbing and rappelling along the base of cliffs accelerated the plant’s decline.
Efforts to help this plant included educational signage and fencing of key populations. The plant gradually began to spread and return to areas where it once grew—its path to recovery paved with the help of national forest visitors dedicated to protecting nature.
In 2016 the plant was de-listed from the ESA. This is a rare accomplishment and one visitors to the Red River Gorge played a large role! Nationally, out of over 2,000 species listed as threatened or endangered, only about 50 have been de-listed due to recovery efforts. Visitors can help this unique plant continue to thrive by learning what it looks like and avoiding trampling.

Hi, I'm Tommy. I love walking round the most peaceful beach city in California - city of Newport Beach, where I am currently living in. Let's walk together on Goldenrod Avenue. It is a hot and sunny afternoon. This street is quite long and it is noisier than the previous streets I have walked. The impressive part of this street is the residential area around Goldenrod Foot Bridge. It is a calm place surrounded by green trees and hundreds of flowers. Enjoy my walking tour my friends!

When I research new bike trails to ride I use the AllTrails app (love it!) for discovery and YouTube to see what the trail looks like. Many times, any questions I may have (What does the trail look like? How well taken care of is the trail? How wide is the trail? Does it look like a trail we can pull a kids trailer on? How does the new detour go? Are there many places to stop? Where does it tend to flood? How does this trail connect to that trail?) can be answered by a simple video like this. Unfortunately there are a lot of trails that I can’t find videos on or they are way out of date. Hopefully this video will help others who may want to quickly see a trail to decide if it’s a good fit for their ride style.

road trip up the coastline of maine | Nubble Light, Portland Head Light, and Lobster Rolls
We kicked off our maine coastline road trip by catching The Goldenrod and the Nubble Light in York, Maine. Then we drove through Ogunquit, Kennebunk, and Kennebunk Port on our way to Cape Elizabeth/Fort Williams Park to see the Portland Head Light.
In York, we had brunch at The Goldenrod. It was delicious and such a fun experience! I had a great burger and chips. It was fascinating to watch them making their signature candies, too!
Bite into Maine was fantastic! I had a delicious grilled cheese, and the guys had lobster rolls that looked incredible! Check out their menu and other info on the food truck here:
This was our first time experiencing the coast of Maine and coastal lighthouses. It was better than we could have ever imagined!

Goldenrod is a source of mild debate in the plant world. Some say this plant is a type of wildflower , while others deem it an invasive
weed . The answer is actually a matter of opinion and growing it in your yard is personal preference. Goldenrod is an attractive plant only when in bloom, and its stalk and leaves have a weedy look to them. Its bloom time varies from midsummer to late summer through fall, depending on the variety. For some, the beautiful two to three-month show is enough of a pleasure to earn it a spot in their wildflower garden.
But allergy sufferers beware, goldenrod's pollen (as with the pollen of most flowers) is said to be a common allergen but these are really soulful in bunch beautifully bloomed arround pot grow these Yellow blooms and know how to care golden rod plant

Richfield county park/Goldenrod Disc golf course
A flight over a park in one of the Genesee County parks. This location is north of the Goldenrod Disc golf course. It is to the east of Richfield County park and BMX area. It is to the south of the EA Cummings Event center.
Walking through here you get the feeling it used to be a lot larger. You also get the feeling it is man made. Most of the hills are very sharp, and almost seem like giant moguls. In the area to the north (not in this video), they are spaced as such.
