Monterrey Travel Guide - Mexico Exceptional Experience
Monterrey Travel Guide - Mexico Exceptional Experience
Monterrey is the third largest city in Mexico and the capital of the state of Nuevo León. It is the commercial, industrial, educational, and transportation hub of northern Mexico, also third in economic importance after Mexico City and Mexico State. Although it is historically an industrial and commercial city (in fact most foreign visitors come for business purposes), tourists will be surprised at the wealth of cultural and entertainment attractions that the city has to offer.
Districts of Monterrey :
Zona Rosa
Contains the Barrio Antiguo and Macroplaza areas and many of the city's top attractions including the entrance to Parque Fundidora, an extensive, well maintained park with fantastic mountain views.
Garden District
West central district with many parks. The traffic on this area of the city is unbearable. Prepare to deal with angry motorists and heavy smog. Home to the Obispado neighborhood and great views of the city.
North Central
Location of Cervecería Cuauhtémoc-Moctezuma
Northwest
Mitras mountain along with several affluent neighborhoods located on its slopes are in this area.
South
Including the major university Tec de Monterrey and the surrounding neighborhood with the same name. This area is located right on the western slope of Cerro De Silla. South of the Rio Santa Catarina.
Apodaca
Far northwest. Home of Monterrey's two international airports.
Escobedo
Northern reaches of the metropolis.
Guadalupe
Contains Bosque Magico, which is an amusement park, as well as the city zoo.
San Nicolás de los Garza
A relativley large suburb. San Nicolás de los Garza is home to Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon and is where both the Tigres soccer team and Sultanes baseball team play
San Pedro Garza Garcia
Southwestern suburb with many good lodging options. San Pedro Garza Garcia is a international business hub and extremely wealthy. San Pedro offers plenty of great restaurants and nightlife of all sorts
Santa Catarina
Taxis and walking are the best choices. Buses are common but hard to use. The subway is good, but has limited coverage. In the downtown area, there is a tourist trolley that does regular circuits around the Macroplaza and Barrio Antiguo areas.
Monterrey has several neighborhoods. The most populous include:
Independencia
Cumbres
Obispado
Contry
Mitras Centro, Norte & Sur
San Jerónimo
San Bernabé
Valle Alto
Del Paseo
Valle
Centrito
Loma Larga
San Agustin
Satélite
Vista Hermosa
Anáhuac
Florida
Primavera
Moderna
Alta Vista
Landmarks of Monterrey :
Santa Lucía Riverwalk, an artificial river built between 1996 and 2007. It currently joins the Macroplaza with the Fundidora Park.
The Cerro de la Silla (Saddle Mountain).
The Macroplaza
Faro del Comercio
Barrio Antiguo
The Museum of Modern Art
Monterrey's Inukshuk
Fundidora Park
Puente de la Unidad
The Alfa Planetarium is the first IMAX dome built in Latin America and fourth in the world.
The Government Palace of Nuevo León
El Cerro del Obispado (Bishopric Hill)
ITESM
The Cola de Caballo (Horse Tail) waterfall
Cerro de la Silla
Cerro del Obispado
Cerveceria Cuahtemoc
Puente de la Unidad San Pedro
Safari Parque Estrella
Cascadas Cola de Caballo
Presa de la Boca
Monterrey is a paradise for spicy food lovers and anyone who loves the smoky flavor of fresh meats grilled over smoldering wood embers will be right at home in any restaurant serving authentic Northern Mexican cuisine. If you get tired of the local cuisine, Monterrey offers plenty of international cuisine such as:Argentinian, Brazilian, Japanese, Chinese and Italian. Also, because of it's close proximity to the United States, almost all American chain restaurants are available.
While it is true that visitors seeking the traditional flavor of colonial Mexico find little to love about Monterrey, the city has emerged as a leading cultural center: it likes cutting edge contemporary architecture (like the visually stunning Puente Atirantado or Puente Viaducto de la Unidad in San Pedro Garza Garcia, the new circular Tec business school in el Valle, or the physics-defying twin leaning bookends look of that shocking white concrete and black glass building that you see as you drive past the ITESM campus). It's also a youthful city that tends to prefer cutting edge rockeros like Plastilina Mosh or Kinky to the cowboy-hat wearing cumbia groups that built the city's music industry in the '70s.
( Monterrey - Mexico ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Monterrey . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Monterrey - Mexico

Things to do in Monterrey, Mexico
We’ve been to a lot of places in Mexico but have always wanted to try driving in from Texas. So we road tripped it out to Monterrey for the New Year weekend to see what the city was all about. We had a lot of fun exploring Monterrey while they still had all their Christmas decor out in the parks. We tried cabrito for the first time and did a pretty cool hike with a refreshing waterfall at the end. We would definitely recommend spending a little time in Monterrey if you’re ever in the area. There is much to do with the Santa Lucia Riverwalk, Macroplaza and Parque Fundidora all pretty close to each other. #mexico #monterrey #barrioantiguo #travel #castawayescapes

Monterrey, Mexico: An Impressive and Modern City! (Travel Vlog)
Yet another city that surprised us and blew away our expectations in Mexico, but this time in different ways. We traded the cute and charming colonial architecture for skyscrapers and the hustle and bustle of a modern big city. So much about Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico surprised us but the thing that blew our minds us the most was the incredible landscape. The entire city is surrounded by beautiful and dramatic mountain peaks that made us feel like we were in Hawaii or something. All the while, we were just 2 hours driving south of the Texas border.
In this travel vlog, we visit some of our favorite neighborhoods in Monterrey, a massive mural made up of 300 houses, some incredible city parks and plazas, try a local dish called cabritos. (baby goats), and more!
It’s a fascinating city but so different than other cities we’ve visited so far in Mexico. For quite a few reasons that we highlight in the video.
Have you been to Monterrey or is it on your radar to visit? What are some things about the city that are surprising to you?
