Chilika lake extends to the northeastern part of the headquarter of Ganjam is Chhatrapur , which is 20 km from Berhampur on the road to Bhubaneswar . Mainly Telugu and are the Odia communities inhabitants of the Dist and a few tribal sects . The District celebrates many festivals around the year . Dola Yatra , Tara Tarini Mela , Thakurani Yatra , Durga Puja , Shiv Ratri , Ratha Yatra , Makar Sankranti , Manabasa Gurubara and Danda Yatra are the famous festivals being celebrated in the District with great enthusiasm . Ganjam District is full of many tourist spots that are visited by a large number of tourists come every year . Potagada-Deserted Tourist Spot of Odisha (Odisha Tourism) || AAI
Morethan 250 years old #Potagada #Fort which stands as a witness to the history of Odisha. The oldest Fort of Ganjam District is situated in the bank of Rusukulya River.
Potagada is 142km away from state capital Bhubaneswar, 32km away from silk city Brahmapur, 10km away from Chatrapur and 445km away from Rourkela.
Potagada Fort is situated near Headquarters of Ganjam District Chatrapur Twon.
After about 30 minutes journey from my home town Brahmapur, I reached at Odisha's oldest and mysterious place.
When we see the history of odisha, the role of potagad will be more special.
According to some articles this place built by Chodaganga Deva 250 years ago which is in the mouth of Rusukulya river, and it is believed that diffirent kings of India have ruiled here.
This place is a deserted tourist spot under Odisha Tourism, although there have been many developements here and it is going to happen even further. Very soon this place will be considered as one of the very best tourist spot of Ganjam district.

POTAGADA FORT | POTAGARH | BRAHMAPUR ON A RIDE | FRIGATE FORT | ODISHA FORT
POTAGADA OR POTAGARH- A Frigate Fort, sometimes misinterpreted as a Buried Fort is situated in Ganjam District, mere 1KM away from National Highway near Ganjam. The place signifies the maritime and naval history of Odisha, and the colonisation era with French, Portuguese and British East India Company. It has a 350-year-old composite architecture ruins, with massive space to anchor frigate ships and soldiers. The erstwhile Madras Presidency used this fort as district headquarters after the Anglo-French war, and after an epidemic spread in this area, which is supposed to be plague disease, the official had to abandon the premises overnight with burying all the victim's dead body inside the campus.
