Top 10 Reasons NOT to move to Grand Rapids, Michigan (It's not that bad)

#GrandRapids
Top 10 Reasons NOT to move to Grand Rapids, Michigan

Have you ever thought about moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan? What to find a better life in a place you can actually afford a mortgage on a home? Grand Rapids may be the place for you. Before you make that jump you should watch this video.

If you enjoy these videos I would love to hear about it. Most of these videos are made to help people who are thinking about relocating, looking for real estate, or just wanting to learn about the United States. We look at the best and worst cities, states, towns, and neighborhoods in the United States. But, most of the time focus on the negative side of locations. If you only want some happy positive information about a city, town, or state, I would suggest looking up local mortgage and real estate companies or maybe the locations website. They are trying to sell you something so it will be nothing but sunshine, rainbows and a bunch of smoke up your skirt. They won't tell you about crime, poverty, bail bondsmen, or insurance you'll need because of natural disasters. I will. And I will try and make it entertaining.

Fostoria - Ohio's Iron Triangle

The Iron Triangle in Fostoria, Ohio, offers some of the best train watching possibilities in the eastern United States, with two CSX lines and a busy Norfolk Southern route providing an endless parade of modern railroading, These scenes were filmed on Saturday, August 2, 2008.

First, a loaded coal train heads west on NS through the Main Street diamonds. then a passing intermodal train is spotted at Q tower on CSX's former B&O main. After the trailer train, a loaded autorack train passes through the Columbus Avenue diamonds to transfer from the old C&O line for it's trip east.

Later, a pair of thoroughbred eastbound freights are seen passing the main street crossing, followed by an empty coke express train on CSX.

The Iron Triangle (Fostoria, Ohio) AMAZING LOCATION

At one of the coolest train spotting spots I have seen around this area, I was able to record this INSANELY long CSX freight train passing through the iron triangle public viewing park. I will DEFINITELY be returning here again. The park is located in Fostoria's 'Iron Triangle' bounded by two CSX routes and a Norfolk Southern line. Between 100-120 trains per day go through Fostoria, Ohio. The rail park cost about $1.1 million of which 80 percent was paid for by a $815,760 grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation. More details about the location can be found below:

CSX and NS Trains in Fostoria, OH (1 of 2)

The busy railfan mecca of Fostoria, OH, where CSX's busy ex-B&O Willard Sub crosses CSX's ex-C&O mainline, which is the Pemberville Sub to the north and Columbus Sub to the south. Of course, Norfolk Southern's Fostoria District crosses both lines at an angle, forming the Iron Triangle.

This clip solely features various trains from all times of the day at the NS/ex-B&O crossing, which NS refers to as B&O Crossing and CSX refers to as Wood Street. The other two crossings in town will be shown in Part 2.

TONS of UP and BNSF power to go along with the NS and CSX power, plus some CN and KCS.

TRAIN 1: CSX manifest Q393 blasts westbound and makes a lot of noise at the NS diamond.

TRAIN 2: Empty LPG train W201 heads east with run-thru BNSF power.

TRAIN 3: UP and CSX power team up on frac sand train W238.

TRAIN 4: CN power leads NS manifest 12Q east.

TRAIN 5: BNSF power leads Q151 off the connection from the C&O to the B&O.

TRAIN 6: 5 UP motors wreak havoc with my camcorder as they blast westbound on empty produce train Q091.

TRAIN 7: Empty NS grain train 55W flies by westbound.

TRAIN 8: BNSF and KCS power team up on a CP ethanol run-thru, K636.

TRAIN 9: UP and NS power lead westbound NS manifest M17.

TRAIN 10: CSX and UP power lead westbound intermodal Q137. On a very sad note, this was the very train where two CSX employees were killed on in the Washington D.C. area when they were hit by an Amtrak train while inspecting a bad order car.

TRAIN 11: BNSF and NS power lead auto train 280.

TRAIN 12: CSX intermodal Q157 heads west early in the morning.

Marion, Bicyrus & Fostoria, OH in 4k - Fall 2024 - Coal, manifests, steel, intermodals, autoracks

Marion, Bicyrus & Fostoria, OH in 4k - Fall 2024 - Coal, manifests, steel, intermodals, autoracks. It was a busy and fun day out in these three locations. Marion was my favorite for sure as there was a good amount of action and two sets of diamonds for that amazing pounding of the diamonds sound. Bicyrus was an alright place and I didn't stick around there too long. Fostoria had good traffic and it was cool that they had actual bathrooms that you could use as opposed to having to find a retail store or gas station. The angles for the videos weren't the best in Fostoria, but there was a good amount of action for sure. I would visit all three places again and I would spend the most time in Marion. Thanks for continuing to watch, comment, like, share and subscribe.

A Week in Ohio - Day 1 - Fostoria - 11/7/05

CAPTURING THE RAILS IS NOW CTR AERIAL!! Please subscribe for new drone footage uploaded every week!

In November of 2005 I embarked on a week-long trip to Ohio to visit a couple of famous hot spots. I booked a hotel in Fostoria for the week, and each day I set out to visit many of the diamond crossings that are failry abundant in this mostly-flat state. The trip actually started on Saturday the 5th with the drive from home followed by hotel check-in and a brief stop by the old Fostoria B&O station to get the lay of the land. On Sunday I ventured out to Attica Junction and took photographs of both CSX and NS freights. After catching a few freights back in Fostoria on Sunday night, it was time to break the video camera out. On Monday (the day of this video) I spent the entire day at the diamonds with both the still and video camera. Fostoria is probably THE most well-known diamond crossing in the east and it didn't disappoint. I got 31 trains in about 10 hours, not including a few trains that were missed on food breaks. Stay tuned for day 2!!
