Welcome to our YouTube channel, where we bring you the best travel destinations and guides to help you plan your next adventure. In this video, we will be exploring four of the best Minnesota State Parks that you absolutely must visit.
First on our list is Itasca State Park, located in the beautiful Northwoods of Minnesota. It is home to the headwaters of the mighty Mississippi River, where you can take a stroll across the iconic stepping stones and witness the birthplace of this famous river. With over 32,000 acres of pristine forests, lakes, and trails, Itasca State Park offers endless opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, and wildlife spotting.
Next up is Gooseberry Falls State Park, a true gem on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Known for its stunning waterfalls and breathtaking views, this park is a must-see for nature enthusiasts. Take a hike along the scenic trails that wind through forests, along the rocky shore, and up to the mesmerizing waterfalls. Don't forget to pack a picnic and spend some time relaxing by the picturesque shores of Lake Superior.
Banning State Park, located just over an hour drive from the Twin Cities, offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historic sites. Here, you can explore the mesmerizing sandstone cliffs, hike through dense forests, and witness the power of the Kettle River as it rushes through the rocky gorge. For those interested in history, the park is also home to the remains of the Banning Sandstone Quarry, providing a glimpse into the region's industrial past.
Last but not least, we have Interstate State Park, nestled along the scenic St. Croix River. This park offers breathtaking views of the river from towering cliffs, ancient glacial potholes, and unique rock formations. With miles of hiking and biking trails, kayaking opportunities, and picnic areas, Interstate State Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts.
Whether you're a nature lover, a history buff, or simply seeking a peaceful getaway, these four Minnesota State Parks have something for everyone. So pack your bags, grab your camera, and get ready to explore the beauty of Itasca State Park, Gooseberry Falls State Park, Banning State Park, and Interstate State Park. Faribo Town Square (Faribault, MN) - former retail mall
If you're a Minnesotan or a Minnesota mall fan, you may know about Faribo West Mall. It's clearly visible off the east side of I-35 when driving between the Twin Cities and Des Moines. But did you know about its older sibling to the east? Just as West Virginia is west of Virginia, Faribo West Mall is west of Faribo Town Square.
This simple office complex has a surprising bit of history going back to the 1960s when it was built as a retail mall. Come learn about its past and current state.
NOTE: If you are planning to visit this mall, it's only open Monday-Friday.
Thank you to Brian Klier for the use of the Faribo Plaza photographs from the 1960s-1970s. Brian is the moderator of the You know you grew up in Faribault when... Facebook group. (I think a good alternative name would be You wish you'd grown up in Faribault when...)
