Uyo the capital city of Akwa Ibom State Nigeria is of the most visited states in southern Nigeria. Akwa Ibom State was declared the cleanest state in Nigeria in 2021. The Akwa Ibom is not only clean but its state capital Uyo is also a very safe and fun place to visit for tourism and vacation in Nigeria.

HISTORY
Abak became the seat of Government in 1902 after the war conquest of the British armed forces that invaded the valley lying between the Ediene and Abak Clans.The outcome of that victory penetration into the hinterland by the colonial soldiers and eventual installation of the government. Valley in the local language is called “Aba-ag” and fighting is “Anwan.” By joining the two words “Aba-ag” and “Anwan” the names “Aba-ag Ikot Anwan” was given to the newly established entity. The seat of Government kept growing until 1957 and 1958 when it gained the status of Divisional Council Headquarters. At the establishment, the area included the present Ukanafun, Oruk Anam, Etim Ekpo, Ika and the present Abak. All the places mentioned here have been developed to become full-fledged local government areas.
At the end of the civil war, the South Eastern State Government was created and Abak became one of the Development Administrative Headquarters and with the local government reforms of 1976, Abak became a full-fledged Local Government Area and has remained so till date.

Hey Everyone thanks for watching my video, I travelled to Akwa Ibom, Uyo for the first time with my sister and Childhood Friend .I got the chance to try some of their traditional dishes and it was a nice adventure. Uyo is a lovely place to visit with a lot of polite hospitable people.
We stayed at the Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort which is a really delightful place to visit.
The Inspiration for my visit to Uyo and eating at “Food house” was gotten from Jennifer Cold’s vlog “Visiting Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort Uyo”

The Akwa Ibom Traditional dishes I had in this video are:
Ekpang Nkwukwo : It is traditionally made with grated cocoyam, water yam, cocoyam leaves ,periwinkle,leafy greens and slowly simmered with various types of fresh or smoked meat, fish, crayfish, red oil and spices depending on the cooks preference.
Edikan Ikong : vegetable soup natively prepared using ‘ugwu’ (the native name for fluted pumpkin leaves) Malabar spinach (locally called water leaf in Nigeria). Like most soups from these coastal regions, this dish usually comes with various seafood and assorted meat cuts.
