Melbourne South-East Glen Huntly Road Afternoon Driving Tour | Melbourne 4K
Melbourne South-East Glen Huntly Road Afternoon Driving Tour | Melbourne 4K
Let's take a relaxing trip along the famous Glen Huntly Road in South-East Regions of Melbourne.
Glen Huntly Road is a main road in Melbourne, Victoria. It starts at Beach Road, Elwood, runs east–west through Elsternwick, Caulfield, Glen Huntly and ends in Carnegie.
Glen Huntly Road was named after the emigrant ship Glen Huntley from Greenock, Scotland, which landed in Hobsons Bay in Melbourne on 17 April 1840. Many of its passengers had died from fever and were buried in the St Kilda Cemetery.
Glen Huntly Road crosses two railway lines; the Sandringham line at Elsternwick station and the Frankston line at Glenhuntly station. Originally both were crossed by level crossing, however the former was eliminated in a grade separation project in October 1960, with the railway lines lowered below the road and a new station built.
I hope you guys enjoy! Thank you for watching! Have a great day guys!

My Trip to Melbourne, Australia - featuring the Puffing Billy Railway - 10/2013
Back in October 2013 - almost 8 years ago now - I went on my first (and so far, only) overseas holiday.
I remember my parents getting cheap plane tickets with Emirates, so we flew to Melbourne on an Airbus A380. Whilst in Melbourne, we went round the city on the trams and commuter trains (otherwise known as MetroTrains, the people behind the Dumb Ways to Die song, if memory serves).
(Here's the song, if you're curious)
Two highlights from the trip were the famous Puffing Billy Railway and SteamRail Victoria shed in Newport. Both railways have a good number of Victorian Railways steam locomotives in their collections. In the latter's case, they have two R class 4-6-4s, built by the North British Locomotive Company of Scotland. This was the same company that built sixteen JA class 4-8-2s for New Zealand Railways (including the now-preserved JA 1275).

Exploring BALACLAVA, Victoria, Australia | Lunch at Tulum, Amazing Turkish Restaurant
In this new series of exploring Melbourne suburbs, we're visiting Balaclava, an inner suburb of Melbourne, 7km south of the CBD. This suburb is also well known for the Jewish community, as there are many Jewish people living in this suburb.
The video style would be a bit different from our usual guide style. In this series, we don't do much research and just take time to stroll around the popular streets of the suburb and absorb and enjoy the vibe.
We started off with a cup of coffee and a pastry from a well-known coffee shop and a famous patisserie shop on the main shopping strip of the suburb, Carlisle Street.
We then had a very nice (and fancy, almost fine-dining style) lunch at Tulum. A very popular modern Turkish restaurant owned by a celebrity chef who appeared on Masterchef Australia TV series a few times, Coskun Uysal. We booked via The Fork app which has a promotion running in May to get 50% off the set menu. Totally worth the price!!
After lunch, we strolled around Carlisle Street, to see the shops and in the hope of finding landmarks and historical buildings. We didn't realise that the day during our visit was a Saturday, which is Jewish's Sabbath Day. They don't normally work on that day, which explains why all the Jewish own businesses were closed.
Finally, for our last spot, we visited a one-of-a-kind cafe, Levanter cafe, which specialises in Syrian food and drinks. We tried their Syrian-style coffee which was pretty much the same style as Turkish coffee. Highly recommended!
