map of Delaware
Delaware (/ˈdɛləwɛər/ (audio speaker iconlisten) DEL-ə-wair) is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, bordering Maryland to its south and west; Pennsylvania to its north; and New Jersey and the Atlantic Ocean to its east. The state takes its name from the nearby Delaware River, in turn named after Thomas West, 3rd Baron De La Warr, an English nobleman and Virginia's first colonial governor.
Delaware occupies the northeastern portion of the Delmarva Peninsula and some islands and territory within the Delaware River. It is the second-smallest and sixth-least populous state, but also the sixth-most densely populated. Delaware's largest city is Wilmington, while the state capital is Dover, the second-largest city in the state. The state is divided into three counties, having the lowest number of any state (unless one counts Louisiana and Alaska, which do not have counties, but parishes and boroughs respectively); from north to south, they are New Castle County, Kent County, and Sussex County. While the southern two counties have historically been predominantly agricultural, New Castle is more urbanized, being part of the Delaware Valley Metropolitan Statistical Area centered on Philadelphia. Delaware's geography, culture, and history combine elements of the Mid-Atlantic, Northeastern, and Southern regions of the country.
Before its coastline was explored by Europeans in the 16th century, Delaware was inhabited by several groups of Native Americans, including the Lenape in the north and Nanticoke in the south. It was initially colonized by Dutch traders at Zwaanendael, near the present town of Lewes, in 1631. Delaware was one of the Thirteen Colonies that took part in the American Revolution. On December 7, 1787, Delaware became the first state to ratify the Constitution of the United States, and has since been known as The First State. Since the turn of the 20th century, Delaware is also a de facto onshore corporate haven, in which by virtue of its corporate laws, the state is the domicile of over half of all NYSE-listed business and over three-fifths of the Fortune 500. Wilmington is the state's most populous city (70,635) and its economic hub. It is located within commuting distance of both Philadelphia and Baltimore. Dover is the state capital and the second most populous city (38,079).

Rehoboth Beach, together with the towns of Lewes, Dewey Beach, Bethany Beach, South Bethany, and Fenwick Island, comprise Delaware's beach resorts. Rehoboth Beach often bills itself as The Nation's Summer Capital because it is a frequent summer vacation destination for Washington, D.C., residents as well as visitors from Maryland, Virginia, and in lesser numbers, Pennsylvania. Vacationers are drawn for many reasons, including the town's charm, artistic appeal, nightlife, and tax-free shopping. According to SeaGrant Delaware, the Delaware beaches generate $6.9 billion annually and over $711 million in tax revenue.
Delaware is home to several festivals, fairs, and events. Some of the more notable festivals are the Riverfest held in Seaford, the World Championship Punkin Chunkin formerly held at various locations throughout the state since 1986, the Rehoboth Beach Chocolate Festival, the Bethany Beach Jazz Funeral to mark the end of summer, the Apple Scrapple Festival held in Bridgeville, the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival in Wilmington, the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival, the Sea Witch Halloween Festival and Parade in Rehoboth Beach, the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival, the Nanticoke Indian Pow Wow mapa de Delaware
DRIVING THRU ELSMERE DELAWARE HOODS - NEW CASTLE COUNTY DELAWARE -
Elsmere is a town in New Castle County, Delaware, United States, bordering the city of Wilmington along Wilmington's western border. According to the 2010 Census, the population of the town is 6,131
Elsmere dates back to 1886 when real estate developer Joshua Heald bought farmland and converted it into houses, building the first suburb in northern Delaware. The community was built at an intersection of railroad lines and allowed working-class families easy access to Wilmington. Trolley lines were later built leading to Elsmere. In 1909, Elsmere was incorporated as a town.[5]
During the 1910s, the Delaware State Fair Association purchased land and built a new fairgrounds within Elsmere's town limit. The grounds, including a racecourse for horses, cars and motorcycles, were located south of New Road and Wilmington Avenue and west of the previously established streets. This land became the site of the Delaware State Fair from 1917 to 1928, and provided a large parking area and ready access from the nearby trolley line. Agricultural exhibits provided the backbone of the fair, but in addition to the races, the summer attraction also included horse and dog shows, vaudeville acts, music, and fireworks. After 1928, the State Fair had moved to Harrington, but the grandstand and the races remained until 1943, when the property was converted to land for residential housing.[6]
In 1950, a 336-bed Veteran's Administration hospital opened on the western edge of town. This was the ninth VA hospital built after the conclusion of World War II.

Wilmington To NewCastle, Delaware, USA
Wilmington is a city in Delaware on the Christina and Delaware rivers. Downtown’s early-20th-century DuPont Building is part of the local du Pont family legacy, which is also evidenced at the Hagley Museum. Those grounds include the 1802 du Pont gunpowder works and the family's Georgian-style home. The Old Swedes Church, between the Christina River and Brandywine Creek, is from 1698. Brandywine Park is to the north.
New Castle is a city in New Castle County, Delaware, United States. The city is located six miles south of Wilmington and is situated on the Delaware River. As of the 2010 census, the city's population was 5,285. -Wikipedia
US-13 Southbound: New Castle to Smyrna, Delaware
Our road trip down US-13 in Delaware picks up in New Castle and heads south into Smyrna. We travel concurrently with DE-1 for a few miles before heading back on to US-13 into St. Georges. After crossing the St. Georges Bridge, we arrive in Odessa and its historic downtown. 3 Days in Delaware! (Wilmington, New Castle, Dover, Lewes, etc.)
J-MASS INSTAGRAM: @jmassofficial
Join me as a I explore the state of Delaware over the course of three days, from top to bottom! Delaware is the second-smallest state by area and the sixth-least populous, yet it has a lot to offer! It was the first state to ratify the U.S. Constitution, on December 7th, 1787, and thus it has a lot of history and culture to see and explore. In this video, we'll explore many of Delaware's unique towns and cities: the largest city in the state, Wilmington; the capital city, Dover; the historic colonial city of New Castle; the beaches and forts of Lewes; the bustling college life of Newark; and many, many more historic and unique sites!
This was my second time coming down to Delaware, and I greatly enjoyed my time spent there! I have always found Delaware to be a highly underrated and underrepresented state, as it has a lot to offer despite how little it is discussed. As you will see in this video, I found a vast array of interesting and unique sites throughout Delaware to explore--and I didn't even make it to all of them! I hope this compels you to check this state out! If you are from Delaware and you are watching this video, I'd be interested to know what amazing places I missed! I'm also hoping to do more multi-day travel vlogs like this in the future, potentially in other U.S. states or regions!

*Change playback quality to at least 1080p for best picture.
Hagley Museum is one of my fave local places to visit in the Fall. The cover photo is actually a photo that I took at Hagley 3 years ago. This year, I visited a little too past peak foliage, but it was still very beautiful.
Filmed on my GoPro Hero7 Black in 2.7K.
