Hengelo - The Netherlands

And so we did.
Hengelo is a small city in The Netherlands, near Germany. It used to have industry in the old days, of which you can still see the remnants of now.
The black structure is a Salt House used to get salt from the ground.
The city hall is modelled after Florence, after WW2. Hengelo was heavily bombed because of its industry.

Ootmarsum Twente The Netherlands
Rond 770 werd in Ootmarsum een van de eerste kerkjes in Twente gebouwd. In november 917 stierf Radboud, bisschop van Utrecht, in Ootmarsum. Ootmarsum was rond het jaar 1000 een van de grootste parochies in Twente, westwaarts strekte het zich oorspronkelijk tot en met Almelo uit.
In de middeleeuwen floreerde de handel in Ootmarsum, vanwege de gunstige ligging; zowel aan een belangrijke noord-zuid-route als aan de route West-Nederland - Noord-Duitsland. Rond 1300 werden aan Ootmarsum stadsrechten verleend. Vervolgens werd Ootmarsum, met de aanleg van een dubbele rij grachten en aarden wallen, een vestingstad. In het kader van de Tachtigjarige Oorlog vestigden Spanjaarden zich in Ootmarsum. Zij werden in 1597 door legers van Prins Maurits uit Ootmarsum verdreven, waarna de vesting ontmanteld werd. Een kogel in de kerk herinnert nog aan dit beleg.

Around 770 was one of the first churches in Ootmarsum in Twente built. In november died 917 Radboud, Bishop of Utrecht, in Ootmarsum. Ootmarsum was around the year 1000 one of the largest parishes in Twente, the originally stretched westward to Almelo.

Visit Winter Wonderland Netherlands GIETHOORN: Ice Skating through Villages
Dutch Ice skaters are hoping for a weather miracle and it finally happens after a while. Autumn is transforming into Winter Wonderland in the Netherlands. In this cinematic drone video you will see famous Cities in the Netherlands such Giethoorn and Lonnekermeer (Hengelo, Twente).
People, kids and professionals are ice skating and even through Giethoorn Canals, Nature and on frozen lakes. Besides you hear the phenomenal sounds of people skating on thin ice. This complete adventure lasts for just 2 days and then the ice was all melted.
Places to Visit in the Netherlands during Winter (#visitnetherlands) will be definitely in our opinion: Lonnekermeer & Giethoorn.
- Lonnekermeer is more than 100.000 years old before the ice time and lies exactly between between moraine.
- Giethoorn is iconic water village that is surrounded by beautiful nature.

In deze video hopen de Nederlanders op de perfecte weersomstandigheden en het wonder rijkt zich na lange tijd weer aan. De herfst veranderd in maar liefst -8 graden Celsius en dit betekend dat Nederland omgetoverd in Winter Wonderland.
Mensen, kinderen, ouderen en professionele schaatsers betreden het ijs in de grachten van Giethoorn, in de ongerepte natuur en op bevroren meren zoals het Lonneker meer. Het geluid van mensen die op dun ijs schaatsen in fenomenaal. Het complete avontuur duurt 2 dagen en daarna was alles weer gesmolten.
Ben je een ijsfanaat of schaats fanaat? Dan zijn Lonnekermeer en Giethoorn een aanrader in de Winter om te schaatsen!
