I spent 3 weeks in the Czech Republic in search of the best places to visit. After featuring this awesome country in our Top 10 destinations for 2015 video, we needed to go and experience it for ourselves. The Czech Republic exceeded our expectations.
Prague was great, as expected, but there's so much to discover outside the big the city!. The national parks and natural reserves are incredibly beautiful.

Písek Sand Beach

1 Czeski Krumlov
Czeski Krumlov to malownicze miasteczko w południowych Czechach, znane z urokliwego zabytkowego centrum, które zostało wpisane na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO.
Nad miastem dominuje XIII wieczny zamek. Czeski Krumlov zachwyca krętymi, brukowanymi uliczkami, barokowymi i gotyckimi budynkami, wijącą się rzeką Wełtawą oraz wieloma punktami widokowymi.
2 Frymburk
Frymburk to małe, urokliwe miasteczko położone na południu Czech. Frymburk jest malowniczo położony na półwyspie nad Zalewem Lipeńskim. Rozpościerają się z niego wspaniałe widoki na jezioro oraz otaczający go Park narodowy Szumawa. Frymburk oferuje także wiele aktywności na świeżym powietrzu.
3 Trzeboń
Trzeboń to urokliwe miasteczko położone w południowych Czechach. Ma charakterystyczny owalny kształt, który tworzą zabudowania. Trzeboń jest znany przede wszystkim z systemu stawów rybnych oraz źródeł termalnych. W miasteczku znajduje się renesansowy zamek z pięknymi ogrodami. Miasto jest również znane z dobrze zachowanego średniowiecznego centrum z pięknym rynkiem i systemem murów obronnych.
4 Telcz
Telcz to urokliwe małe miasteczko położone w południowej części Czech na Morawach. Dobrze zachowane historyczne centrum Telcza zostało wpisane na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO. Rynek Telcza ma długość ponad 300 metrów i jest jedną z największych atrakcji tego miasteczka. Centralny punkt miasta tworzy zamek Telcz, obok którego znajduje się niewielki park.
5 Mikulov
Mikulov to malownicze czeskie miasteczko położone w południowej części Moraw. Nad miasteczkiem góruje zamek wznoszący się na skale, który obecnie jest siedzibą muzeum regionalnego. Otoczony winnicami, Mikulov jest znany z produkcji doskonałych win i corocznych festiwali winiarskich. Bliskość Parku Narodowego Podyje sprawia, że jest idealną bazą wypadową.
6 Lednice
Lednice to urocze miasteczko położone w południowych Czechach, w sercu Moraw, niedaleko granicy z Austrią i Słowacją. Najpopularniejszą atrakcją w Lednicach jest wspaniały zespół pałacowo-parkowego. Pałac w Lednicach to imponująca rezydencja wzniesiona w stylu neogotyckim, otoczona rozległym, romantycznym parkiem.
7 Kutná Hora
Kutná Hora to miasteczko w Czechach, które leży około 65 km od Pragi. Zyskało na znaczeniu w średniowieczu dzięki eksploatacji kopalni srebra. W Kutnej Horze znajduje się kościół św. Barbary, który jest jednym z najważniejszych dzieł gotyckiej architektury w kraju. Można tutaj też zobaczyć Kolegium Jezuickie oraz ossuarium, czyli tzw. Kaplicę Czaszek.
8 Karlowe Wary
Karlowe Wary to największe czeskie uzdrowisko położone w Czechach na zachodzie kraju. Miasto słynie z gorących źródeł mineralnych, które przyciągają odwiedzających od setek lat w celu skorzystania z ich zdrowotnych właściwości. Karlowe Wary położone są w dolinie, gdzie zbiegają się rzeki Ohrza i Teplá, otoczone malowniczymi, zalesionymi wzgórzami.
9 Loket
Loket to małe, urokliwe czeskie miasteczko położone w zachodnich Czechach. Znane jest przede wszystkim ze średniowiecznego zamku górującego nad zabytkową zabudową, którą otacza rzeka Ohrza. Castle Bezděz 4K and Little Bezděz hill - Exploration of the 750-year-old castle and surroundings
Bezděz is a ruin of a castle near the village of the same name on the Bezděz hill (606 metres) in the Doksy hills, six kilometres southeast of the town of Doksy in the Česká Lípa district of the Liberec Region. It is protected as a national cultural monument and is open to the public during visiting hours
The castle was founded by King Přemysl Otakar II in the second half of the 13th century. The construction was largely completed in 1279, when the young Wenceslas II was imprisoned in the castle. Since the beginning of the 14th century, the castle was held by a number of noble families, including the Berks of Dubá, the Lords of Michalovice, the Lords of Cimburk, the Wartenbergs and the Wallensteins. During the 16th century, the castle lost its residential importance.
At the beginning of the Thirty Years' War it was damaged by the imperial army. Albrecht von Wallenstein briefly tried to rebuild Bezděz into a modern fortress, but he did not complete his plan. Since then, the castle has been used for religious purposes and the castle chapel was transformed into an important pilgrimage site in the 18th century. After its dissolution, the castle began to decay and gradually turned into a ruin, which served as a source of inspiration for many artists during the Romantic era.
Bezděz is one of the best preserved castles from the thirteenth century in the Czech Republic. Extensive remains of several palaces, two round towers and a fortification system unique in its time have been preserved. Unlike the older castles, the dominant interior space of the castle was no longer a large hall. Instead, the living unit, consisting of a smaller vaulted hall, with an adjoining vaulted chamber and a room with internal wooden panelling on the sides, was repeated in all the palaces. The castle chapel of St Michael is an artistically exceptional space.

Trip to Black Lake (Černé jezero & Čertovo jezero) from Prague | Winter hike | Czech Republic

Hiking Trails:
Black Lake (Černé Jezero) is the country’s biggest naturally formed lake. If you make it there, you can follow the marked red trail to Devil’s Lake (Čertovo Jezero); Black Lake can be reached via the yellow hiking trail from Špičácké sedlo.The name comes from the apparently black colour of its waters, which is due to reflection of the surrounding dense forests.
Černé Jezero and Čertovo jezero can be reached on a flat walk, from the car park (25 CZK per 1h) behind Hotel Karl, but there also is a free parking nearby if you are lucky to get a free spot. In summer, the walk from the car park to the lake, would be around 30 minutes and in winter it took us 45-50 min with constant stops to take pictures. Fair warning, there are no cafe/toilets at the lake, so be prepared:)
If you are heading to this area during winter months, make sure to have winter tyres.You will need a Czech toll sticker only if you plan on using the Czech motorways. The shortest duration for the toll is 10 days and costs 310CZK. You can buy it at any petrol station on Czech side of the border. Pay with Czech Koruna or a credit card, not Euros, as you are unlikely to get a good exchange rate.

Black Lake, Černé jezero, Czech Republic.
This triangular lake surrounded with spruce forest is located about 6 km northwest of Železná Ruda under a 300-metre-high cliff on Jezerní hora (1,343 m). It is of glacial origin, a product of the Würm glaciation. The water in the lake is oligotrophic. There is a natural outflow through Černý potok, a short stream which is a tributary of the Úhlava River. The main European water divide runs across the mountain just above the lake. As a consequence, Černé jezero belongs to the water basin of the Elbe, which finds the North Sea, while Čertovo jezero just 2 km away drains into the Danube and thence the Black Sea.
