郎辛庄大集位于北京东五环外的郎辛庄便民市集院内，这里每逢农历尾号二、五、七、十的日子里都有大集。这里乘坐地铁很方便，因此每个月12次集市吸引了很多北京城区的市民过来体味小时候去农村赶集的乐趣。
这个大集上保留了很多老北京的传统，比如冬季里的鸣虫蝈蝈儿，还有绿豆做的一种叫做“饹炸饸”的小吃，小时候吃的零嘴儿炒黑豆、开花蚕豆，以及北京随处可以见到的卤煮火烧。

Yongding 永定 | Gaobei Tulou 高北土楼 | Fujian 福建 | Mysterious Earthen Castles
Fujian's Hakka Tulou ('Earth Buildings' 土楼) are unique, usually round, fort-like buildings, built with a mixture of clay and sandy soil. These rare buildings were designed by the circumspect Hakka minority as large fortresses and apartment buildings in one, and were inscribed by UNESCO as a cluster of World Cultural Heritage Sites in 2008.
History
Walled villages were built from the Song Dynasty (960–1279), when the Hakka Han moved from their original homeland in northern central China to the mountains of southeast China.
From then construction remained much the same, until conflicts with neighbors led to the development of fort-like housing from the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) to the Republic of China era (1912–1949).
Today, the earth buildings are one of Fujian Province's top tourist attractions, and most of the residents are involved in tourism, instead of farming.
Location
Fujian Province is in southeast China, north of Guangdong Province, where the majority of the Hakka live, and across the sea from Taiwan, which also has Hakka in the mountains. The Hakka only built tulou in Fujian.
The Yongding Tulou are mainly distributed in Nanjing County (南靖县), Yongding County (永定县), and Hua'an County (华安县), a region about 150 km across on the Fujian-Guangdong border, 2½–3½ hours by bus west from Xiamen.
Construction
Earthen buildingThe earthen buildings are mainly made of clay and sandy soil.
Hakka earth castles' main building materials are clay, sandy soil and gray tiles, with bamboo strips playing the role of rebar in modern construction. Tulou were built with local raw soil without reinforced concrete and steel.
The foundation walls are three meters (10 feet) wide, able to withstand an earthquake, fire, or any attack at that time. The outer walls are mostly thicker than 1 meter (3'4).
Shapes
The earthen buildings have two different shapes . The buildings are usually constructed round, but there are some square ones. All are about 10–20 meters tall, 30–80 meters in diameter; with dark, overhanging, shallow-pitch, apex roofs, and a hollow core (with lower buildings inside) 15–50 meters across.
The round building style is the most famous tulou architecture. They usually have 2–4 floors, and with 2–3 inner rings of buildings. The most famous is Chengqi Building (承启楼 in Yongding Tulou Area), with 4 floors and 400 rooms.
Square buildings are mainly in Yongding Tulou Area. They can be rectangular or square. The locals call them sijiaolou (四角楼 sìjiǎolóu /srr-jyaoww-loh/ 'four-corner building(s)' ). Kuiju Building (奎聚楼 in Yongding Tulou Area) is one of the most famous square earthen buildings, with a height of 15 meters.
Functions
Tulou had two main functions : communal living and defense. Each earth building usually holds the extended family of a single Hakka clan. These structures espoused equality and unity as family areas were the same size and shape, and everyone lived under the same roof, sharing communal areas.
Most earthen buildings have three or four floors with comprehensive living functions : the first floor is used for kitchens and dining rooms; the second floor is for grain stores; and the third and fourth floors are used for bedrooms.
Then comes the question, do they have no communal rooms or bathrooms? In fact, most have at least three concentric rings of buildings : the out ring is the main part of the building which has been described above; the second ring is set with bathrooms, and the center is the sitting room, as well as the ancestral hall of the family.
These buildings have a good ventilation and lighting and are warm in winter and cool in summer.
100–400 years ago, tulou played a significant role in protecting the Hakka from the attacks of land-hungry neighbors. Residents could easily mount an all-round defense, and the vulnerable entrances were strongly reinforced.
Which Tulou to Visit
There are three main tulou areas in Fuijan: Nanjing, Yongding, and Hua'an. The earthen buildings in each area may seem the same, so you may be confused which area to visit.
Nanjing Tulou Area is the most recommended, as it's only 2½ hours from Xiamen city.
Yongding Tulou Area is about 3½ hours from Xiamen city, but it's the largest tulou area in Fujian, with most of the top buildings.
Hua'an Tulou Area is less popular, but also less commercial - worth a visit for a quieter experience of original tulou.

We start the day in Beijing with a visit to the Temple of Heaven. The Temple of Heaven complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for a good harvest and it was a great place to spend an hour looking around early in the morning.
We then catch the Beijing Subway back to our hotel the Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel pack our things, check out and then get the Subway again the Beijing West Train Station.
At the Beijing West Train Station we wait for our G657 Bullet Train that will take us all the way to Xian. If you need train tickets for China trains you can get them from Trip.com (link can be found below).
Today we are going to be travelling in second class from Beijing to Xian and the journey time is just over 5 hours. Over the course of our trip to China we will be experiencing all different classes of train travel including second class, first class, business class, VIP class and even a sleeper train.
We really enjoyed our time onboard this train, we all sat next to each other in a row of three seats.
Along the way we passed through some amazing scenery on our journey to Xian. We spend most of the time either looking out of the window and eating all the snacks we got the night before.
Once we arrived at Xian we got a taxi from Xian Train station to our hotel, the Holiday Inn Express Xian Bell Tower. The hotel is in a great central location just a couple of minutes walk to the famous Xian Bell Tower and about 5 minutes walk to the Muslim Quarter were we went to get food.

China Baoding is located in the west-central part of Hebei Province, 140 kilometers away from Beijing. It has been an important gateway to Kyoto since ancient times. In the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the Zhili Governor-General was established in Baoding. At that time, Baoding was a prosperous city. Baoding is only 160 kilometers away from Beijing.

🌼 Zhili Governor-General's Mansion
This was the government office of the Zhili Governor-General of the Qing Dynasty. You can see the historical buildings in northern China and the restored Governor's Office and residence. The exhibitions set up in the museum show the official customs and clothing of officials in the Qing Dynasty.
🌼 Ancient Lotus Pond
The ancient lotus pond was built in 675 AD (Tang Dynasty). The garden is dominated by the lotus pond, with the Linyi Pavilion as the center. The ancient lotus pond takes into account the beauty of the northern and southern gardens, and is known as the Little West Lake. The lotus pond is very close to the Zhili Governor's Mansion, so you can arrange a tour together.
🌼 Huaijun Office & China Ancient Theater Museum
The Huaijun Office is a relatively well-preserved ancient building complex in northern China with a Qing Dynasty Hui-style ancestral hall building and a northern Qing-style wooden structure as the main body. It integrates public sacrifices, management offices and offices. The theater is the largest existing closed theater in the Qing Dynasty in China, and is the essence of the entire Huaijun Office.
🌼 Baoding West Street
West Street is located in the city center. It is a relatively well-preserved historical and cultural block in China with the characteristics of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and the Republic of China. It was once known as the No. 1 Street in Zhili and the Famous Street in the North.

Wuzhen Water Town, lying in the northern part of Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province, is a typical ancient town in southern China. As one of the top six ancient towns in the southern region of the Yangtze River, Wuzhen Water Town boasts more than six thousand years of history and has always been a fertile land with abundant rice, fish and silk. It preserves the ancient appearance well and oozes charm of the water town itself. The small town, with houses made of black bricks and gray tiles contrasting sharply with the white walls, making it appear like a Chinese ink wash drawing. Stone bridges are seen here and there. Small boats with black awnings are floating on the murmuring rivers. Whether wandering along the riverside or strolling in the lanes paved with blue flagstones, you will be deeply impressed by the picturesque scenery and slow lifestyle.

百越時期：柳州位於先秦時期的百越之地，相關的有西甌越，南越等百越分支。柳州的蠻王城遺址處於父系氏族公社時期，距今約4,000年。
秦朝時期：前219年，秦始皇命屠睢為統帥，發兵五十萬，開始進行長期的秦攻百越之戰，與譯籲宋、桀駿率領的西甌軍遭遇，第一次戰爭付出慘重代價，屠睢身亡。靈渠修通後，發動第二次戰爭，於西元前214年最終深入嶺南，現在的柳州地方隸屬秦桂林郡，但秦政權對地方控制力並不強。
南越國時期：秦朝滅亡後，該地區成為原秦將領及越人建立的南越國的一部分（建國時間約在西元前204年）。南越國的統治持續了近百年。

Baiyue Period: Liuzhou was located in the land of Baiyue in the pre-Qin period, and related to the Baiyue branches such as Xiouyue and Nanyue. The ruins of Manwangcheng in Liuzhou are in the period of patriarchal clan commune, about 4,000 years ago.
Qin Dynasty Period: In 219 BC, Qin Shihuang ordered Tu Sui as the commander-in-chief and sent 500,000 troops to start a long-term Qin attack on Baiyue. He encountered the Xiou army led by Yixusong and Jiejun. The first war paid a heavy price and Tu Sui died. After the Lingqu Canal was repaired, the second war was launched, and finally penetrated into Lingnan in 214 BC. The current Liuzhou area belonged to Qin Guilin County, but the Qin regime did not have strong control over the local area.
Nanyue Kingdom Period: After the fall of the Qin Dynasty, the area became part of the Nanyue Kingdom established by the former Qin generals and the Yue people (founded around 204 BC). The rule of the Nanyue Kingdom lasted for nearly a hundred years.
During the Han Dynasty: During the reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Lu Bode led his army to fight the Battle of Nanyue (112 BC). In the winter of the sixth year of Yuanding (111 BC), the Nanyue Kingdom was destroyed. In the same year, a city was built in the current Liuzhou, called Tanzhong County, which belonged to Yulin County. The local area was mainly governed by local people, and the chieftain system continued until the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The Jiutoushan Han Tomb in Liuzhou is a representative of this period. More than 40 five-zhu coins of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty and Emperor Xuan of the Han Dynasty were unearthed, which are the earliest evidence of currency trade in Liuzhou. Iron hoes and iron bars indicate that Tanzhong County has entered the period of iron agricultural tools. The unearthed colored glaze ornaments may have come from Southeast Asia or the east coast of India, landed in Hepu, and imported through the Nanliu River and Beiliu River to the Liujiang River.
During the Three Kingdoms Period: In the third year of Fenghuang (274 AD) of the Three Kingdoms, Guilin County was separated from Yulin County, and Tanzhong County belonged to Guilin County. During the Three Kingdoms period, Dingzhou (now Yizhou District, Hechi City), the only county town in western Guangxi to the west of Tanzhong County, was abolished. The Hongshui River Basin and the Long and Rong River Basins, namely the northwest of Guangxi in Liuzhou and Hechi, had no local administrative system of the central dynasty. This marked the beginning of a trough in the economic exchanges between the ethnic minorities in northwest Guangxi and the more Hanized eastern Guangxi and even the Central Plains.
Western Jin Dynasty: In the third year of Taikang (282), Tanzhong County was promoted from the county seat to the seat of Guilin County.
