Balochistan, the largest of the four provinces of Pakistan, spreads over an area of 347,190 Sq, Kms., forming 43.6 per cent of the total area of Pakistan. It has clustered population and is smallest in proportion as compared to that of other provinces. Its population, according to 2017 census, is 12.34 million, having 35.53 population density per square kilometer, the lowest in Pakistan.
The largest province of Pakistan in terms of area is richly endowed with natural resources, which include many minerals, coal, sulphur, chromite, iron ore, barytes, marble, quartzite, and limestone. It has the world's largest reserves of copper and gold and is also blessed with huge oil reserves. In 1953, the natural gas was first discovered at the Sui area of Dera Bugti. Sui Gas Field hosts the country’s largest gas compressor station and a purification plant. Despite diminishing reserves over time, Sui Gas Field still remains one of the largest natural gas producing field in Pakistan, contributing substantially to the country’s requirements with daily production of around 359 MMscfd.
Other than being rich in natural resources, Balochistan is also called the Fruit Basket of Pakistan. The province shares 90 percent of the national production of grapes, cherries and almonds. Almost 60 percent of peaches, pomegranates, apricots and around 34 percent apples and 70 percent of dates are exported from Balochistan. A total of 149,726 hectares are covered by fruit crops and nearly 889,490 tonnes of production is successfully achieved every year. Over thousands of tonnes of apples are exported from Balochistan annually and around 80 percent of the quality apples are produced in the province.

Sui is a sub-district of Dera Bugti District in Balochistan, Pakistan. The Sui gas field is located near Sui town. Generally, this is the area of Bugti's. The town of Sui is near the corner where the provinces of Baluchistan, Sindh and Punjab meet. It is about 9 km from Punjab, and 10 km from Sindh. The Indus River flows 25 km to the east of it. It is 40 km south of Dera Bugti. Sui has gas compression facilities from where natural gas is pipelined to nearby towns in Punjab and Sind. It is also pipelined to Quetta.
