Best 21 Places To Visit in East Coast - Tourist Attractions in USA
best 21 places to visit in east coast usa - road trip
Alternating between mythical cities and insolent nature, the East Coast of the United States is a cocktail of diverse destinations.
New York, the city that never sleeps: certainly essentials, but it would be a shame to reduce it to a getaway in the Big Apple.
The region has other attractions from Philadelphia to Boston via Washington DC Visiting these metropolises unveils the crucial moments in American history, from the declaration of independence to the Civil War, from the saga Kennedy to the more recent inaugurations of Barack Obama or Donald Trump.
The cultural offerings of Philadelphia and Washington deserve all the superlatives; sur y is one of the finest museums and private collections in the world. Pittsburgh is no exception.
Named the third best world destination in 2015 by Condé Nast Traveler, this city continues to grow and has nothing to envy of its more popular neighbors.
The east coast also appeals to nature lovers. The surroundings of the big cities are grandiose, like the forests of the Shenandoah Valley, near D.C., or the Amish lands of Lancaster County just a stone's throw from Philly. The state of New York, shaded by the city of the same name, is full of waterfalls, vineyards and pretty beaches. Niagara Falls is one of the highlights.
Travelers cannot be encouraged enough to venture into New England with a first stopover on Cape Cod. Its long, wild beaches and lighthouses deserve a visit that will not fail to be coupled with a memorable excursion to the great of the astonishing small town of Provincetown or the island of Nantucket to meet the whales.
And still further north, here we are at the heart of the Appalachian chain, this backbone of the American East.
New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont offer visitors here their natural treasures: White Mountains, Green Mountains and Acadia National Park.
A paradise for hikers, from the bucolic path to the arduous ascent, with, as a reward along the way, splendid panoramas.
It is in the fall that a trip to New England is essential when the forests are adorned with incandescent colors. And who knows, the moose might just give the lucky traveler a bow. And count on the warm welcome of the Americans to make this stay unforgettable!

Cypress Gardens | Vintage Walking Tour 1994
Let's go back to 1994 and visit the Original Cypress Gardens, Florida from 1994! We'll take a walking tour and see the original entrance, footage from the Motorboat Ride, the Butterfly Sanctuary, and aerial views from the Isand in the Sky. Many of these areas still exist today inside of the Legoland Theme Park in Winter Haven, FL.
CYPRESS GARDENS HISTORY
Dick and Julie Pope made the decision to return to Florida in the later half of 1932 after spending some time in New York. Julie had read in Good Housekeeping about a banker in Charleston who had opened up his private estate to the public, and made $36,000 in cash in a single year—a sizeable figure. When she showed her husband the story, Mr. Pope said, Someday we'll develop a Garden here!
The couple's first goals included beautifying and rebuilding Winter Haven's canals and chain of lakes. They began working on that and eventually decided to construct a hanging garden on Lake Eloise, which is ultimately what became Cypress Gardens.
Mr. Pope started building his fantasy garden alongside the workers as they toiled in the muck. Many in the media called him Maharaja of Muck and Swami of the Swamp, mocking the idea of erecting a stunning tropical exhibition in the center of a 16-acre swamp. However, he persisted. Julie Pope understood plants, but Dick didn't recognize one flower from another.
Mr. Pope, who has always enjoyed taking pictures, set up an 8x10 view camera while he laid out the trails to make sure he could achieve beautiful photo compositions with his plantings. He used his walkways to get around any large trees or lagoons that seemed to be in his way. The gates to what would eventually become a showcase for 8,000 distinct flower kinds from over 90 different countries finally opened in 1936. The first electric boats started cruising through the tropical waterways in 1938.
Dick Pope's newsreels, photos, and persistent showmanship, endless pictures of stunning women, palm trees, exotic flora, and perpetually sunny Florida sky were published all over the world. He was dubbed Mr. Florida, the state's first citizen, and eventually the Father of Florida Tourism.
Some of Cypress Gardens' iconic features evolved throughout time as a result of need. For example, all the plants in the park were protected by smudge pots on the cypress wall that a visitor first sees upon arrival. However, in the early 40s, they became frozen and died. In addition, it was chilly outside, which deterred customers. Twenty cars arrived the first day, but they all left without entering. A girl was called by Mrs. Pope. The elegant Southern Belles established a custom that contributed to the Gardens' continued attractiveness.
The well-known water ski show started off similarly. Water skiers were being carried by a boat at Cypress Gardens in one of the images in a local newspaper from 1943, while Mr. Pope was serving in World War II. Even though there was no official show, a few soldiers from the vicinity came to observe it. But Julie, a true businesswoman, gathered her kids and their friends to put on the first water ski show ever at the park. 800 men arrived the following weekend. The title of water ski capital of the world, was quickly bestowed upon Cypress Gardens.
In the late 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, celebrities and Hollywood film producers, such as Elvis Presley, Esther Williams, and Johnny Carson, discovered Cypress Gardens. Hundreds of short films and full-length films, including On an Island With You, Easy to Love, excerpts from Moon Over Miami, and many others inundated movie theaters around the nation, contributing to the gardens' enormous popularity.

Another big part of the channel is to document a piece of Americana… at a certain point in time. Wouldn’t it be cool to go back to where you lived, 20 or 30 years ago, and take a ride through your hometown? As more roadway drives, walking tours, and vintage trips are added, it builds history so future viewers can go “back in time” and see what it was like, back then.

Cypress Gardens South Carolina
This family jaunt took place on March 24, 2012. (Randy, Dawn, Wyatt and that's Carson, AKA Alligator Bait, playing in the black water.) We had been told by many that Spring is a beautiful time of year to visit Cypress Gardens when all is in bloom and the bees are buzzing, the butterflies flying, the Alligators sunning, etc.. We were not disappointed. This short digital video is filmed on a Canon ZR850 and composited with iMovie. Stills were shot with a cheap Panasonic Lumix and then tweaked in Photoshop (some tilt-shift effect added and other adjustments).
Many hollywood movies were shot here, in this blackwater swamp... The Patriot is probably the most familiar. The crew received permission to build the set in the swamp and also to raise and lower the water level during filming. It was filmed in the winter just before the swamp froze solid (which is rare). In scenes from The Patriot, you see the ruins of an old Spanish mission where the militia meets and camps. This was built from wood and styrofoam and then covered with a mixture made with beach sand and sea shells. The Patriot was filmed in 2000. The mission structure has since fallen and been taken away. Some of the set elements remain. A large alligator guards the site where Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger sat by the campfire.
