Saint Lucia is the ultimate honeymoon destination. It has the most beautiful nature and is the absolute highlight in the middle of the Caribbean. There is also plenty to do for backpackers and traveling families. In this video I show you why every traveler should visit Saint Lucia at least once: it's just a place that can hardly be beat!
After Saint Lucia we visit many more gems in the Caribbean. Whether they will match with Saint Lucia remains to be seen! With the best views of the gigantic pitons, overnight stays in tree houses in the middle of the jungle and the most beautiful snow-white beaches, Saint Lucia is high on the list of the most beautiful islands in the world. We sleep in Soufrière, visit the Diamond Waterfalls, hike the Tet Paul Nature Trail and visit the beaches Anse Chastanet, Sugar Beach and Jalousie Plantation Beach. From the west, we drive our small jeep through the rainforest to the south and east, before relaxing at an all-inclusive resort in the north.
This year we travel all over the world and after the Canary Islands, Oman, Cape Verde and Martinique, Saint Lucia is our fifth destination. Follow us on this world tour, first in the Caribbean and then to many more beautiful destinations! We travel non-stop all year round and film everything. Saint Lucia (Saint Lucian Creole French: Sent Lisi, French: Sainte-Lucie) is an island country of the West Indies in the eastern Caribbean. The island was previously called Iouanalao and later Hewanorra, names given by the native Arawaks and Caribs (respectively), two Amerindian peoples. Part of the Windward Islands of the Lesser Antilles, it is located north/northeast of the island of Saint Vincent, northwest of Barbados and south of Martinique. It covers a land area of 617 km2 (238 square miles) with an estimated population of over 180,000 people as of 2022. The nation's capital and largest city is Castries.
The first proven inhabitants of the island, the Arawaks, are believed to have first settled in AD 200–400. Around 800 AD, the island would be taken over by the Kalinago. The French were the first Europeans to settle on the island, and they signed a treaty with the native Caribs in 1660. England took control of the island in 1663. In ensuing years, England and France fought 14 times for control of the island, and the rule of the island changed frequently. Eventually, the British took full control in 1814. Because the island switched so often between British and French control, Saint Lucia was also known as the Helen of the West after the Greek mythological character, Helen of Troy.
Representative government was introduced in 1924 with universal suffrage being established in 1951. From 1958 to 1962, the island was a member of the West Indies Federation. On 22 February 1979, Saint Lucia became an independent state, while remaining as a Commonwealth Realm.
Saint Lucia is a member of the United Nations, the Organisation of American States, the World Trade Organization, CARICOM and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). It is also a member of Organisation internationale de la Francophonie.

Welcome fellow adventurers!
Today, we are in St. Lucia - this is another one of the volcanic islands and there are many, many fishing villages that we visited today.
You don't find the great beaches that I saw in the Netherlands Antilles here, but what's unique about this island is they have something called the Pistons and these are large cone shaped croppings, I think that were created by volcanoes, and they shoot up straight out of the ocean and go up to a couple thousand feet above sea level.
We also stopped at a beautiful Botanical garden that had so many different flowers and a waterfall, hot mineral baths, and all kinds of trails. We had a great time there was so many different types of flowers that you see in the tropics.
Also, there is a lot of bays in this area - which we have several pictures of.
Our final destination that we drove though in this area, up these one way roads, was Soufriere and it was established by the French, back in 1746. It has all kinds of gingerbread houses, and that where we also saw the Pistons I told you about.
Some interesting facts about St. Lucia was it was founded by the French in 1650. They've had multiple hurricanes throughout the years that have damaged a lot of things.
What had happened is between the French and the British this island has seven times been taken over by the French, and seven times taken over by the British - which at this point in time it is a British island still.
So when we got to Soufriere, we got off the bus, and had some lunch and got on a catamaran - we were able to take the catamaran back to our port where our ship was!
It was interesting because much of the land were sheer cliffs that had rainforest grown through them.
What was interesting is they said the plant that is the plant of St Lucia is bamboo, because they have planted bamboo all over the island, especially on these roads where they have sheer cliffs going down, because the bamboo keeps the sheer cliffs from falling into the ocean!
On the way back the catamaran stopped in this beautiful bay where everyone got off and was able to go swimming and enjoy the backdrop of the rainforest!
