Parco della Abbadessa e Castello Machiavelli- Bologna - Italy

(Drone footage & Video editing by Enrico Cifiello)

Description: Gessi Bolognesi e Calanchi dell'Abbadessa Park is situated on the hills surrounding Bologna, and is characterized by a series of gypsum outcrops from which a very interesting karst system and the charming Calanchi dell'Abbadessa derive. Although they have been damaged by the past mining activities, Gessi Bolognesi represent one of the main naturalistic points of interest of the area, with dolines, closed valleys, and cliffs shaping the landscape and populated by Mediterranean species and species usually living at higher altitudes.Castello Machiavelli B&B is located in a busy area of Ozzano dell'Emilia in 30 minutes walking distance from Collezione di Anatomia Patologica e Teratologia Veterinaria. Location Guests can easily get to Parrocchia di San Maria Lacrimosa, which is approximately 10 km away. It will take 10 minutes to get from the hotel to San Lazzaro di Savena by car. Secret spots in Rome Part #1
One of Italy’s most popular tourist destinations (and arguably the country’s most well recognised city), Rome, is one of my favourite places to visit. Hundreds of thousands of tourists flock to the ancient city each and every day, most to visit landmarks such as the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish steps…
This year I was lucky enough to have a personalised tour with a local where I got to uncover a couple of secret spots, that will undoubtedly bring me back for more.
The vibrant and energetic local I am referring to is none other than fellow YouTuber and all round Italian enthusiast, Lucrezia, from the channel Learn Italian with Lucrezia who I was trusting with my schedule for the one and only day I was spending in Rome this year.
We started off bypassing most of the regular spots on a scorching Summer day and headed for St Peter’s Basilica. I told Lucrezia that this was a pretty famous spot so we couldn’t claim it as a secret…but she laughed it off as she had one objective in mind – to take me to the best vantage point that most tourists don’t know about.
After checking this beautiful spot out and testing her theory, we moved on to a location not so far away that was as authentically Roman as you can get – but without all the fuss of the tourists. It is a gorgeous strip, full of people from the area going about their lives and filled with stores that withhold the town’s tradition – antiques.
Watch the video to find out more and get a glimpse into my day with Lucrezia. Hopefully it will inspire your own Roman excursion to be an original one too.
(PS: Part two is also pretty delicious as Lucrezia takes me to her favourite Roman trattoria…stay tuned!)

Day trip to Rimini | 2000 years of Roman history | Castel Sismondo

Day trip to Rimini | 2000 years of Roman history | Castel Sismondo

Italy is full of ancient Roman ruins, and some of the best are to be found on the east coast in Rimini. In this video I’ll take a look at some of them along with other sights as I explore Rimini.
I start at the impressive ruins of the Porta Galliana, one of the old entrance gateways into Roman Ariminum. I walk up a little further to the Tiberius Bridge, which is still in use two thousand years after it was constructed. I then walk down the old Roman road called the Decamanus, stopping for a coffee before walking round to the Domus del Chirurgo. This is the ruins of a Roman domus or house that used to belong to a surgeon around 200AD. Then it’s a short walk through the Piazza Cavour and the statue of Pope Paul V and up to the Castel Sismondo. This is a well preserved castle containing a museum to the Italian film director Federico Fellini. My final stop was the magnificent Arch of Augstus which has stood at the opposite end of the Decamanus for two thousand years.
What a fabulous place Rimini is to visit.
