The Adventure that is Asik-Asik Falls (Getting There and Best Time to Visit)

Last March, just over a week before they implemented the Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine, I found myself in Davao City, and decided to do something that was most unusual: I decided to visit Asik-Asik Falls in Alamada, North Cotabato. Getting there was an absolute adventure. It was a 5-hour van ride, a 40-minute tricycle ride, and an hour's ride on a motorbike. By the time I got off the van, it was already dark, and I was in unfamiliar territory -- I had only previously visited Midsayap for a short while and knew nothing about the area. But I was resolute in my goal to see Asik-Asik, and although I confess that I was scared doing it (particularly when it got very dark and my habal-habal driver would not slow down), I do not regret it at all. Going to Sitio Dulao even at night was a good decision because I arrived at my quarry alone (I'm selfish that way). Asik-Asik Falls is majestic and amazing. It is definitely in the top 3 of my must-see waterfalls in the Philippines. I would not mind going back to see it again, should I ever find myself in the area (but preferably Cotabato City).

This is officially my last trip and adventure before practically the whole Philippines was placed in lockdown, and I don't think there will be any new trips in the foreseeable future, unless a cure is found for COVID-19.

Locations:
📍Mt. Akir Akir/ Agkir Agkir is located in Libungan, North Cotabato, and rises approximately 969.8736 meters (3182ft) above sea level. The mountain s a must-see for every hiker/backpacker and nature lover. 🍃🌥️☁You'll love the experience and the views. 😉 We were so lucky we experienced the sea of clouds. This hike is very memorable.

📍Hiking Panimahawa Ridge in Impalutao, Impasug-ong, Bukidnon had a chill and relaxing vibe which I love the most. You can see the view was so amazing that seems more like a painting. It really is the most visited mountain in Northern Mindanao.

📍Balot/Balut Island is located in Brgy. Paril, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat. I would really love to show you more of the beauty of this Island but I'd rather want you to explore the unspoiled and enchanting Island yourself :)

📍Daday Falls or Mimbalawag Falls is derived from the name of Nur Daday who owns the land surrounding the falls. It's located at Sitio Mimbalawag, Upper Dado, Alamada, Cotabato, and is estimated to be 400ft. tall.

📍Ugis Peak, Sitio Ugis, Brgy. Marguez, Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat: The Skyscraper of the South ⛰ The knife-edge, as they call it is one of the riskiest mountains we have been to yet. This peak is part of the Daguma mountain range, home to the Tedurays of Southwestern Mindanao. This is not its best look because the fog and clouds envelop us as we reached the summit. Major or minor climb? It does not matter because one should never underestimate a mountain.

📍Manirub Falls and Marguez Cold & Hot Spring, Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat
📍Fanigan Falls, Brgy. Tubak, Ampatuan, Maguindanao: The haven of the Dulangan Manobo Heritage

Amazing Asik Asik Falls | The BEST Waterfall in the Philippines | Tourist Destination North Cotabato

This magnificent falls hidden in Upper Dado Alamada Cotabato Mindanao is one of the best natural wonders I've ever seen.

Residents of Alamada call the natural wonder asik-asik because water from rocks on the cliff sprinkle the river beside it, creating gossamer curtains.

Asik means Sprinkle in Hiligaynon language.

This is truly amazing and one of the best waterfalls in the Philippines.

Thank you for watching and hope you watching it!

Mysterious Hidden Waterfalls in the Philippines 🙀🙉🌞 | Asik Asik Falls | Alamada North Cotabato

#shorts Alamada, North Cotabato Philippines - Mysterious, because unlike most waterfalls, the streams of cold water behind those vegetations ooze from the 60-meter high and 140-meter wide rock mountain itself. There must be a lot of water deep within those rocks to create curtain-like waterfalls that cover the entire width of the mountain. And, the sight is nothing short of marvelous! Never did the locals of a remote community in Southern Philippines suspect that a massive water system cascades quietly in their backyard. Or, is it safe to say that they just ignore the sound of water thinking it was just part of the nearby river? The locals of Sitio Dulao in the small village of Dado, Alamada, North Cotabato did not realize that a towering rock mountain in their place was emitting lots of water. The said rock formation was covered with thick and lush vegetation and forest that nobody would suspect something was going on in there. Besides, how could they suspect waterfalls from the mountain when there is no river on its summit. Isn’t that mysterious? The once undisturbed town of Alamada in the highland of North Cotabato is now a booming tourist destination. Thanks to the majestic Asik-Asik Falls for a promise of a brighter tourism landscape for this part of Mindanao. Asik-Asik Falls or Dulao Falls for the locals is situated in Sitio Dulao of Barangay Upper Dado, Alamada, North Cotabato. It is nested in the lower slope of Mount Ragang, also called as Mount Piapayungan or Blue Mountain, an active strato-volcano that sits in the boundary of Lanao del Sur and North Cotabato. There are various tales and side stories of the discovery of this natural wonder. Some say that it was accidentally discovered by military during a clearing operations, while other say that locals already know the place ever since. The latter seems more true and probable, a beauty of such grandeur is impossible to have gone unnoticed. The locals probably just kept it as secret or ignored it thinking it was just a normal scene.

BUTIG FALLS ADVENTURE - PART 2 | WATERFALLS SERIES

A glimpse of Lanao del Sur

On August 10, 2024, we embarked on a memorable road trip between Marawi and Iligan from Davao City. One of the highlights was our visit to the serene Masjid Bacolod-Kalawi, nestled near the scenic shores of Lanao Lake. We also took a brief but insightful tour of Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi. The trip culminated in a profound visit to Marawi Ground Zero, offering a reflective experience on the city’s resilience and recovery.
