Driving Lake Hopatcong's East Shore
At nine miles in length and roughly fifty miles of shoreline, Lake Hopatcong is New Jersey’s largest lake. Come along for a virtual summer drive along the winding, scenic roads which traverse the beautiful hills and mountains along the eastern shore (and a bit of the western shore) of this beautiful lake.
In this driver and passenger point of view (POV) driving tour we begin at the lake’s southernmost point in Landing, NJ with Lake’s End Marina in view. We’ll travel north along Mt. Arlington Blvd, Windermere Ave, Howard Blvd, Espanong Rd, and many of the smaller lakeside roads until we reach the lake’s northernmost point on Winona Trail in Lake Hopatcong. In between, we’ll pass views of the lake and many beautiful homes ranging from small summer bungalows to stone castles and everything in between. We’ll also view beaches, parks, country clubs, restaurants, marinas, shops and iconic spots such as Bertrand Island, Nolan’s Point, The Windlass Restaurant, The Jefferson House, Brady Bridge, and more.
Filmed in 4K Ultra HD video on July 24, 2022. Natural ambience and calming ASMR sound. (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response)

EGYPT AND THE FALL OF THE KINGS
EGYPT AND THE FALL OF THE KINGS
Egypt's rich history is filled with dynasties of powerful kings, or pharaohs, who ruled over the land for thousands of years. These kings were not only rulers but were also considered gods on earth, embodying divine authority. However, the fall of these kings marked a significant shift in Egypt's history, signaling the end of an era and the beginning of a new phase of foreign domination and internal strife.
The decline of the Egyptian pharaohs can be traced back to the end of the New Kingdom, around the 11th century BCE. The New Kingdom, often considered the peak of Egyptian power, was a time of great prosperity and military conquest. Pharaohs like Ramses II, also known as Ramses the Great, expanded Egypt's territory and solidified its position as a dominant force in the ancient world. However, after the death of Ramses III, the last strong pharaoh of the New Kingdom, Egypt began to experience a gradual decline.
One of the primary reasons for the fall of the kings was the internal strife and division within the kingdom. The power of the central government weakened as local rulers, or nomarchs, began to assert more control over their regions. This fragmentation of power made it difficult for the pharaohs to maintain a unified and stable state. Additionally, the economic strain caused by constant warfare and the cost of maintaining Egypt's vast empire further weakened the central authority.
Another significant factor contributing to the fall of the Egyptian kings was the invasion of foreign powers. The first of these major invasions came from the Libyans and the Sea Peoples, who raided Egypt during the late New Kingdom. Although the Egyptians managed to repel these invasions, they were left weakened and vulnerable. This vulnerability was later exploited by the Assyrians, who invaded Egypt in the 7th century BCE. The Assyrian conquest marked the beginning of a series of foreign dominations, including the Nubians, Persians, Greeks, and eventually the Romans.
The invasion and subsequent rule of foreign powers not only ended the reign of the Egyptian kings but also marked a significant cultural shift. The once-dominant Egyptian culture began to blend with those of the conquering peoples, leading to a gradual erosion of traditional Egyptian practices and beliefs. The arrival of the Greeks under Alexander the Great in 332 BCE further accelerated this process. Although the Ptolemaic dynasty, established by Alexander's general Ptolemy, continued to rule Egypt in the name of the pharaohs, they were Greek in origin and culture. This marked the final stage of the fall of the Egyptian kings as native rulers.
The fall of the kings of Egypt was not a sudden event but rather a gradual process that took place over several centuries. It was marked by a combination of internal strife, economic decline, and foreign invasion. The once-great pharaohs, who were revered as gods on earth, saw their power wane as Egypt became a battleground for foreign empires. The legacy of these kings, however, lives on in the monumental achievements of ancient Egypt, from the pyramids to the temples, which continue to captivate the imagination of people around the world. The fall of the Egyptian kings represents the end of one of the most remarkable periods in human history, a time when the pharaohs ruled over a land of unparalleled wealth and splendor.
