Leicester /ˈlɛstər/ (audio speaker iconlisten) is a city, unitary authority and the county town of Leicestershire in the East Midlands of England.
The city lies on the River Soar and close to the eastern end of the National Forest. It is to the north-east of Birmingham and Coventry, south of Nottingham, and west of Peterborough.
The 2016 mid year estimate of the population of the City of Leicester unitary authority was 348,300, an increase of approximately 18,500 (Increase 5.6%) from the 2011 census figure of 329,839, making it the most populous municipality in the East Midlands region. The associated urban area is also the 11th most populous in England and the 13th most populous in the United Kingdom.
Leicester is at the intersection of two major railway lines—the north–south Midland Main Line and the east/west Birmingham to London Stansted CrossCountry line; as well as the confluence of the M1/M69 motorways and the A6/A46 trunk routes. Greyhound racing took place at two venues in the city; the main venue was the Leicester Stadium which hosted racing from 1928 to 1984, it also hosted speedway. A smaller track existed at Aylestone Road (1927–1929).

The Leicester International Short Film Festival is an annual event; it commenced in 1996 under the banner title of Seconds Out. It has become one of the most important short film festivals in the UK and usually runs in early November, with venues including the Phoenix Square.

Stokesay Castle is a fortified manor house in Stokesay, Shropshire, England. It was built in the late 13th century by Laurence of Ludlow, then the leading wool merchant in England, who intended it to form a secure private house and generate income as a commercial estate. Laurence's descendants continued to own the castle until the 16th century, when it passed through various private owners. By the time of the outbreak of the English Civil War in 1641, Stokesay was owned by William Craven, the first Earl of Craven and a supporter of King Charles I. After the Royalist war effort collapsed in 1645, Parliamentary forces besieged the castle in June and quickly forced its garrison to surrender. Parliament ordered the property to be slighted, but only minor damage was done to the walls, allowing Stokesay to continue to be used as a house by the Baldwyn family until the end of the 17th century.

Ashby de la Zouch Walk: Town Centre【4K】
Located in the county of Leicestershire, and around 15 miles south of Derby, is the town of Ashby de la Zouch.
The town's distinctive name means 'ash tree farm/settlement', with the 'de la Zouch' suffix added in 1160 when Norman nobleman Alain de Parrhoet La Zouch inherited his position as Lord of the Manor by marriage. Locally, it is commonly referred to as, simply, Ashby.
In the late 15th century Edward IV granted Ashby Manor to William, Lord Hastings, who converted it into a castle and also rebuilt St Helen's Church nearby in the Perpendicular Gothic style. The church would later be enlarged in the late 19th century.
During the English Civil War Ashby de la Zouch Castle was occupied by a Royalist garrison. The castle was surrendered to the Parliamentarians in 1646 following a year-long siege, and later slighted to prevent further use. The castle would later be referenced in Walter Scott's historical novel Ivanhoe from the early 19th century.
Historically, skilled craftsmen including silversmiths, swordsmiths and clock makers operated in the vicinity of Market Street. From the early 19th century Ashby de la Zouch became a spa town following the discovery of water with medicinal properties in the mining village of Moira nearby. The Ivanhoe Baths were built in 1822, followed by the adjacent Hastings Hotel in 1827 (now Royal Hotel). The baths would eventually close in 1884 due to falling visitor numbers, apparently caused by a surge in popularity of seaside resorts.
In 1849 a railway station opened in Ashby de la Zouch. This formed part of the Midland Railway's line between Leicester and Burton-on-Trent. However, in 1964 the station was closed as part of the notorious Beeching cuts, along with over 2000 other stations across the country in an effort to encourage motorway travel. Today the nearest railway station is Burton-on-Trent. Direct bus services from Leicester, Coalville and Swadlincote, among other locations, are available.

Acton Burnell Castle is a 13th-century fortified manor house, located near the village of Acton Burnell, Shropshire, England (grid reference SJ534019). It is believed that the first Parliament of England at which the Commons were fully represented was held here in 1283. Today all that remains is the outer shell of the manor house and the gable ends of the barn. It is a Grade I listed building of the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest.

The reinterment of Elizabeth Cookworthy, and another person
Elizabeth Howard, a member of the Society of Friends (or Quakers) was born on 6th October 1763 at Lower Thames Street in the parish of St Dunstan in the East in the City of London.
Her father, Thomas Howard (2 March 1737 - 29 April 1824) was a brazier and tinplate worker.
On 10th May 1792, at the Friends' Meeting House, Peter's Court, Westminster, she became the second wife of William Cookworthy, grandson of the William Cookworthy who discovered how to make porcelain using Cornish kaolin, or china clay.
Elizabeth's husband was a chemist and druggist in Plymouth so after her marriage she moved to the town with him.
He died in Plymouth on 9th May 1797 and was buried close to his first wife in the Friend's Burial Ground, Vennel Street, Plymouth on 14th May.
Elizabeth lived as a widow for over thirty years and died in Plymouth on 9th October 1833.
She was buried in the same grave as her husband's first wife on 18th October 1833.
The graves in the Vennel Street Burial Ground (later known as Treville Street Burial Ground) were excavated in 1955 as part of the building of the new Bretonside Bus Station. The remains were reinterred in the Quaker Burial Ground at Efford Cemetery in 1956.
During the demolition of the Bus Station in December 2017 Elizabeth's lead coffin was discovered, buried at a much greater depth than the others.
It could easily be identified by the coffin plate which gave her name, age and date of death.
In Grave 109 some other remains were discovered. These could not be identified but were reburied with Elizabeth's.

A quick change of plans resulted me in taking a trip to Acton Bridge, a place I thoroughly enjoyed the last time I was there so, thought it would be nice to return to see what's about!
Sadly, I didn't see as much of a variety as last time but still saw some good stuff. Including, DRS 57 308 on a training run, GBRf 60002, x2 class 70s and DB 90 034 also on training runs!
The weather was crazy for this time of year: snow showers and very windy. So, I apologise for the windiness!
