Visit Brainerd - Minnesota's Golf Destination
Find your golf adventure in Brainerd, MN. With more than 450 holes on dozens of championship courses, the Brainerd Lakes Area has been ranked the 41st most desirable golf destination in the world, by Golf Digest. All of the area's courses are open to the public.
Brainerd, MN | A 4K City Walking Tour
Located in central Minnesota, along the Mississippi River, is Brainerd. Long known as the home of Paul Bunyan and well-known as Minnesota’s Vacationland. The area that is now Brainerd was formerly Ojibwe territory. Brainerd was first seen by European settlers on Christmas Day in 1805, when Zebulon Pike stopped there while searching for the headwaters of the Mississippi River. Crow Wing Village, a fur and logging community near Fort Ripley, brought settlers to the area in the mid-19th century. Brainerd was the idea of Northern Pacific railroad president John Gregory Smith, who in 1870 named the township after his wife, Anne Eliza Brainerd Smith, and father-in-law, Lawrence Brainerd. The company built a bridge over the Mississippi seven miles north of Crow Wing Village and used the Brainerd station as a machine and car shop, prompting many to move north and abandon Crow Wing. Brainerd was organized as a city on March 6, 1873.

Madden’s Resort on Gull Lake in Brainerd, Minnesota
📍 Madden’s Resort in Brainerd, MN. Eat. Sleep. Golf. Madden’s in Brainerd, Minnesota, offers some of the best destination golf locations in the United States. They have 4 layouts including the championship course the classic. Raju and Rodit from Food, Life and Travel met up with us in the BLA to experience some of the best we have to offer in our area. None of us had been golfing before this other than the occasional golf cart ride. It was a blast getting to know the layout of Pine beach west. After our adventures on the course which we clearly weren’t dressed for, we headed over to the classic for some dinner. The views were stunning, and the service was excellent. It was super fun getting to know the staff from other countries. The food was exceptionally good. The seafood was perfectly cooked. My favorite part was the view over the course at sunset and golden hour. There is nothing like that golden light. I highly recommend putting this on your adventure list. Continuing our adventure for day 2 at Madden’s on Gull Lake in Brainerd, Minnesota. We met up with Raju and Rodit from Food Life & Travel for some breakfast and adventures. The breakfast was great and had lots of options. We quickly found the axe throwing and tested our skills. That was a lot of fun. There was basketball, bikes, pingpong, tennis, and lots of options that are available. This family-owned and operated resort is just a 2-hour drive from the twin cities. Everything felt really easy to access and not to bad of a hike to get to. There are six restaurants, four golf courses, three beaches, a lakeside spa, a full recreation center and marina, and so much more. Go check them out! Rides at Paul Bunyan Land - Brainerd, Minnesota
Some random videos of the rides and such at Paul Bunyan Land and This Old Farm Pioneer Village in Brainerd, Minnesota.
Oh, the Places You'll Go.... to track down roller coasters but even more so rare AF rides.... Because its -normal- to drive some 5 hours/300 miles round-trip, on 'vacation' to check something off your carnival ride bucket list, right? Well, I drove from North Dakota to Minnesota and back just to do so (and to get a +1 kiddie coaster along the way :D ) Paul Bunyan Land! All I knew ahead of time was there was a coaster, a giant talking statue... and hopefully the *last* remaining swinging gym/cage in the United States, luckily all 3 ended up being true. So after paying some $22 for admission and having Paul Bunyan HIMSELF greet me, by name... I made my way over to something I thought I'd never see again and something I'd only ever seen once before, back in 2004, in Germany....... The elusive and potentially dangerous 'Swinging Gym' (Sadly, since I was the only person to dare try them our whole visit, I don't have any video of it running, but Jeff did take a few photos of me getting an absolute work out getting my cage over the top - ) But also, the park ended up being suspiciously nice with a handful of classic flat rides and even a few dark rides. I also rode my very first Garbrick Merry Mixer, a ride I've only seen twice before as well, but had skipped (...and also had to explain as non-nerdy as possible why its different than a Scrambler to Jeff, haha)
Rides shown in order - Front entrance, Tilt-a-Whirl (Sellner), Space Shuttle (Chance), Sourdough Mixer (Garbrick), Roller Coaster (Molina & Son's), Roller Coaster / Ferris Wheel (Eli Bridge), Train, Mini Himalaya (Venture Rides), Zumur Swings (Chance), Merry Go Round, Pioneer Village
