Over the years we've spent Christmas in the oddest places. This year found us at an old Fort in the north western part of Tanzania. We'd thought it to be a resort of sorts. But no, it was an abandoned place. However, the locals we most kind, and curious about us. And, the spirit of the holidays can be felt no matter where you are.

Okaseni Village Project
The Okaseni village in Moshi rural district of Tanzania was the main objective of this medical mission. The supplies were raised by UT Dallas Smiles of Promise and the Mascarenhas family.
Establishing a clinic for the village as per the Mawella Parish is a great starting point to establishing basic health care for the indigent population.
I hope to travel to Okaseni again in the near future and visit this clinic we are establishing.

How Great Thou Art - Ugandan Orphanage
In July 2018 I traveled to Uganda with the youth group from Galilee Church in Virginia Beach, VA. This trip was in support Solar Light For Africa, an organization that is providing solar power and lighting across Uganda. We spent four days at the Otino Waa orphanage outside Lira, Uganda. Each member was assigned to a house that included a house mother and up to 10 orphans. I was assigned to a house with Mama Rebecca and eight young ladies who inspired me to no end. I mentioned my favorite hymn one day at lunch, and we quickly discussed the lyrics and they sang this amazing version.

Building Hope in Kurusanga Primary School, Tanzania
As a result of contributions in excess of $11,000 dollars, and with the help of Project Zawadi and Zinduka, ( we were able to build two beautiful classrooms in a remote village in Northern Tanzania, in January 2007.
