Burma Bhamo-River and Lakes
Bhamo or Manmaw is a city in Kachin State, Northern Myanmar (Burma). It is on the bank of the Irrawaddy or Ayeyarwady river. It is just 65km from the chinese Yunnan border and it used to be trade station for which Jade was brought to China. Now it is a quiet town, with lots of activity along the river, with a morning market, some nice temples and peaceful lakes. In 2014 I took the river ferry up the Irrawaddy river from Mandalay to here, which took 3 days, but these ferries may be suspended.

Myanmar ( Burma ) 2014/15, Katha - Bhamo - Pyay - Yangon, part 2/2 !
Bhamo is a city of Kachin State in the northernmost part of Myanmar, located 186 km south from the capital city of the state of Kachin, that is to say Myitkyina. It is on the Ayeyarwady River. It lies within 65 km of the border with Yunnan Province, China.
The population consists of Chinese and Shan, with Kachin peoples in the hills around the town. It is the administrative center of Bhamo District and Bhamo Township.
Pyay is principal town of Pyay Township in the Bago Region in Burma (Myanmar). Pyay is located on the Ayeyarwady River (Irrawaddy River) and is 260 km (160 mi) northwest of Yangon.
The British Irrawaddy Flotilla Company established the current town in the late 19th century on the Ayeyarwady River (Irrawaddy River) as a transshipment point for cargo between Upper and Lower Burma.
The district of Pyay encompasses the valley of the Ayeyarwady, located between Thayetmyo, Hinthada and Tharrawaddy districts. Along the western side of Pyay District are the Rakhine (Arakan) Yoma mountain ranges, and along the eastern side are the Bago (Pegu) Yoma mountain ranges. Pyay District's main towns are Pyay, Shwedaung, and Paungde
Two days in Pyay, Myanmar
After leaving Yangon, I headed to Pyay, before going on to Bagan.
In this video you can see what I got up to during my two day visit in this small town in Southern Myanmar.
I had a really authentic experience with some locals, rode a bike until I'd sweated out my body weight, saw an amazing sunset and witnessed a very bizarre karaoke ritual....
Myanmar ( Burma ) 2013, beautiful town Hsipaw & Lashio, Shan State !
Hsipaw ( also known as Thibaw), is a town in Shan State, Myanmar on the riverbank of Duthawadi River. It is 200 km (124 mi) northeast of Mandalay.
Lashio is the largest town in northern Shan State, Myanmar, about 200 kilometres (120 mi) northeast of Mandalay. It is situated on a low mountain spur overlooking the valley of the Nam Yao river. Loi Leng, the highest mountain of the Shan Hills, is located 45 km to the southeast of Lashio.

Myanmar ( Burma ) 2015, Bhamo - Bamaw !

It is on the Ayeyarwady River. It lies within 65 km of the border with Yunnan Province, China. The population consists of Chinese and Shan, with Kachin peoples in the hills around the town.
