This walking tour was excellent and free things to do in a city is always appreciated. In Bucharest, like many other cities in Europe there are free walking tours available.

You can give a donation at the end of the tour, its up to you. You can also give nothing.
You meet the tour guide who is in bright orange, or has a bright orange umbrella at the meeting spot and go from there.
This tour was brilliant, I learned so much about the history of Romania and walking around the buildings that are a mix of pre-communist, communist and now is so interesting to see.
I did this tour on the day I arrived, which I recommend. It can check of some of those must see things, help with jet lag, get you moving, meet other tourists and learn something new.

New video today, recorded just a week ago, on a sunny Saturday evening, with scattered clouds and warm temperatures.
This video starts near Unirii Square, going on Dimtrie Cantemir Boulevard, toward the Berceni neighborhood. After that, you'll see a spectacular sunset on Calea Vacaresti, on the bridge crossing the Dambovita River, in an area in continuous develpoment. As we head towards the City Center, we drive on the narrow one way street Mihai Eminescu, going north to the Financial district, on Calea Floresca, where our video ends.

Piața Unirii, Unification Square or Union Square in English, is one of the largest squares in central Bucharest, located in the center of the city where Sectors 1, 2, 3, and 4 meet. It is bisected by Unirii Boulevard, originally built during the Communist era as the Boulevard of the Victory of Socialism, and renamed after the Romanian Revolution.
The square is a significant transport hub, containing the Piața Unirii metro station and a major interchange for RATB buses; there is also a tram terminal near the southwest corner. The Unirea Shopping Center, the Cocor department store, and a large taxi rank are located on the east side of this square, while Hanul lui Manuc is on the north side, near the northeast corner. The center of the square boasts a small park and fountains which are particularly popular with commuters and passers-by in the torrid summer months. There were plans to build the Romanian National Salvation Cathedral in the place of this park, but the idea proved technically impossible due to the busy underground environment and lack of popularity among local citizens and therefore the location was changed.
The square features a large Christmas tree erected every December.

The Bucharest Metro (Romanian: Metroul din București) is an underground rapid transit system that serves Bucharest, the capital of Romania. It first opened for service on 16 November 1979.
