Paris, France - Video Tour of les Buttes Chaumont (Belleville, La Mouzaïa, Jourdain)
David Hill with New York Habitat ( ) will take you to the refined Buttes-Chaumont's park, one of the most beautiful gardens in Paris. It contents five kilometers of paths and a lake.
Don't hesitate to check out all information about the Buttes-Chaumont on New York Habitat blog
Le Parc des Buttes-Chaumont
The park is found on the east side of the Canal Saint-Martin. Designed by Jean-Charles Alphand, the park was filled with little round mountains (mont in French), which looked rather bald (chauve in French), leading to its name Chau-mont. The engineer Darcel created massive mounds up to 101 meters in height, which were later covered with vegetation by the brilliant landscaper Jean-Pierre Barillet-Deschamps.
With a walk up the highest hill you will reach the Sybille temple, where you will find the best view of Montmartre in the city. In addition to the hills, the park also has the largest lake of the city.
Romantic Bridge
The park is also famous for its bridge. It was supposed to be a place of 'amazing views of idyllic landscape' but, according to the poet Louis Aragon, it became a suicide Mecca.
St. Jean-Baptiste de Belleville -- 139 rue de Belleville
The St. Jean-Baptiste De Belleville church has huge, beautiful towers reaching 57 meters high (187 feet high) that can be spotted from the park. Jean-Baptiste Lassus, its architect, offered a fresh look at the French XIII century style.
La Mouzaïa
La Mouzaïa, a charming street of Paris was named after a town in Algeria. It has a quaint old fashioned style and can be found hidden between rue de Mouzaïa, rue du Général-Brunet and rue Michel-Hidalgo. Small houses were built here, full of flowers and greenery. Taking a stroll around the streets of Buttes-Chaumont, you'll feel like you're part of the neighborhood.
As a matter of fact, you can be a part of the neighborhood. Book an apartment with New York Habitat for your next trip to Paris and immerse yourself with the locals and experiment the real Paris. Here are some vacations rentals to consider in the Buttes-Chaumont area of Paris.
This fully furnished 1-bedroom vacation rental in Buttes-Chaumont, Paris (PA-2163) is located just minutes from the park. The apartment is situated on the sixth floor of an elevator building and features an open, fully equipped kitchen!
A furnished studio apartment Canal Saint Martin, Paris (PA-3533) would be a great way to experience the Parisian living style. This apartment is also in close proximity to the park and features parquet wood floors, modern decorating, TV and Internet access and plenty of storage space.
New York Habitat provides tons of furnished apartments too all over Paris.
Jourdain, the Promised Land
Jourdain, a neighborhood, named after the biblical river, is one of a kind. It's a place to go stroll around Art Galleries, classic XIX century buildings and inexpensive local street restaurants. Jourdain is also famous for its many festivals, leisure cafés and very friendly, lively locals.
Marché de la place des fêtes
To the southeast of the park, you'll find the market at the Place des Fetes. This is where one of Paris' most famous markets is held every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday mornings.
Restaurants
All Parisians talk about one place to spend the evening: Rosa Bonheur! This charming café, down the street from the Botzaris subway station, offers a great view of Paris while queuing to get in. You will also enjoy the real Parisian crowd dancing and singing to French music. Afterwards, head to Jourdain, with its 1929's Zéphyr Brasserie and then on to Belleville with Le Vieux Belleville where you can hear local accordion music.
Rosa Bonheur, 2, avenue des Cascades
La Cagnotte de Belleville, 13, Rue Jean-Baptiste Dumay
Le Zéphyr, 1 Rue du Jourdain
Le Vieux Belleville, 12, rue des Envierges
Le nouvo Cosmos, 5, rue lassus
L'Imprévu, 151, rue de Belleville
I am sure we were not able to get them all in this video, but please help us out by leaving a comment with your favorite spots in Buttes-Chaumont.
Please be sure to check out other video tours of Paris ( Champs Elysees or the Ile-Saint-Louis for example)

Places to see in ( Paris - France ) Parc de Belleville
Places to see in ( Paris - France ) Parc de Belleville
The Parc de Belleville, one of the parks and gardens of the 20th arrondissement of Paris, is situated between the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont and the Père Lachaise Cemetery. The Parc de Belleville is located on the hill of Belleville, its 108 metres making it the highest park in Paris. At the summit of the park, an almost thirty-metre tall terrace provides a panoramic view of the city. The park was conceived by the architect François Debulois and the landscaper Paul Brichet. It was inaugurated in 1988.
The park offers 1200 trees and shrubs, a 100-metre-long waterfall fountain (the longest in Paris), and 1000 m² of lawn accessible to the public. It also contains a wooden playground for children, ping-pong tables and an open-air theatre. At the top of the park lies the Maison de l'Air, a small museum designed to educate visitors to the importance of fresh air and to the problems of pollution.
The park also prides itself on its display of annual flowers. The gardeners prepare the flower beds two years in advance, in tight collaboration with the horticultural center of Rungis. Their compositions have received prizes numerous times at the Concours des Décorations Florales Estivales (Summer Floral Decoration Competition), which takes place each year in September.
In the Middle Ages, numerous religious communities acquired plots of land on the hill. They cleared fields, planted grape vines, and tapped numerous springs. Taverns and guinguettes competed for places there from the fourteenth to eighteenth century. At the end of the 20th century, the cottages disappeared, giving way to more modern buildings and the Parc de Belleville. A vineyard growing Pinot Meunier vines from Champagne and Chardonnay vines from Burgundy still lies at the top of the park as a reminder of the area's viticultural history.
( Paris - France ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Paris . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Paris - France

TOP 10 BEST things TO DO in PARIS!
There is no other city like Paris. It is brimming with beauty, history, and culture. While many visitors come to Paris to visit the Louvre, scale the Eiffel Tower, or view Notre-Dame, the city's true magic may be experienced on its streets. Here, the ins and outs of everyday life are on display. Chic ladies on bikes pedal their kids to school, artists set up shop in cafés with a notebook, and people of all ages wait in line morning and night for a hot baguette from the local bakery. Given that Paris is a city with a strong cultural identity and that there are people from all over the world living there, it is probably all you anticipated and then some more.
This is why a trip to Paris' most popular attractions is insufficient; instead, wander the streets to experience the city's true spirit and allure.
As you wander the streets of Paris, you might find yourself strolling the Montmartre hills in quest of the ideal crepe location or meandering through Belleville, a Chinese enclave dotted with stylish, young Parisians and ornate murals. You might be taking in an all-too-early verre du wine at a café in Saint-Germain-des-Prés or exploring the Latin Quarter across the Seine. It doesn't take much to become completely engrossed in this unique metropolis.
One of the most charming and exciting cities to visit is Paris. The city of lights has such a huge amount to propose with top notch museums, lovely design and cityscapes, popular landmarks, flavorful food, vast neighborhoods to get lost inside thus considerably more. It's the sort of city that you could visit again and again and track down a novel, new thing to do but still feel like you have scarcely start to expose what's truly going on with Paris.
Also called the Capital of Fashion, Paris is home to some of the world’s finest designer names including Yves Saint-Laurent, Lancôme, L’Oréal and Christian Dior. The city’s shopping scene ranges from shopping centers to open-air markets, boutiques and flea markets. An overview of the top tourist attractions in Paris
