Most Common Travel Mistake To Avoid for Aurora Borealis Northern Lights
I see this so often and people can get very upset when their expectations do not get met. If you aren't interested in Iceland's other activities in winter, do not go there JUST for the Northern Lights also known as Aurora Borealis. If you want a better chance of seeing the Northern Lights, travel to Fairbanks, Alaska between mid-August to mid-April.

Barnet Walk: Town Centre | Chipping Barnet【4K】
Located within Greater London, and around 12 miles directly north of Hyde Park, is the town of Chipping Barnet, commonly referred to as simply, Barnet, or in some cases High Barnet, usually to distinguish it from the borough in which it is situated which is also called Barnet.
The name 'Barnet' is derived from Old English 'bærnet', meaning 'land cleared by burning'. This is in reference to its origin as a densely wooded area which was cleared to make way for the settlement. The 'Chipping' prefix is thought to derive from 'ceapen', which in Old English means 'market'. The market itself dates all the way back to 1199 when King John issued a charter.
Geographically, Chipping Barnet is one of the highest urban settlements in Greater London with an elevation of around 130 metres (427 ft). Standing at the peak is St John the Baptist Church which dates back to the mid 13th century, although much of the current building dates from the late 19th century when it was enlarged due to the increasing population.
In 1471 the Battle of Barnet took place during the Wars of the Roses. The battlefield itself was a plain just north of the town centre, and was fought between the House of York, led by King Edward IV, and the House of Lancaster, led by Richard Neville, the Earl of Warwick. In what is thought to be the result of foggy weather conditions, a wing of Lancastrian forces charged into their own men, mistaking them for the Yorkist troops. In the confusion that ensued, the Earl of Warwick was killed and Edward IV was victorious. This was a turning point in the Wars of the Roses, as it, along with the subsequent Battle of Tewkesbury weeks later (also won by King Edward IV) led to 14 years of Yorkist rule over England.
In 1872 High Barnet station was opened by the Great Northern Railway. Initially it was the terminus of the branch of a line that ran from Finsbury Park to Edgware. In 1935 the Northern Heights plan was introduced. The aim was to incorporate existing stations north of Highgate onto the Northern Line on the London Underground. High Barnet station was first used as a Northern Line service in 1940, with its previous operator, LNER (London & North Eastern Railway), withdrawing their services the following year. Today it is one of three northern termini on the Northern Line, with the other two being Edgware and Mill Hill East. A journey into central London takes around 40 minutes from here.
Historically Barnet was situated in Hertfordshire up until 1965, at which point it became part of the ceremonial county of Greater London, and concurrently the London Borough of Barnet was created. Its northern end borders the Metropolitan Green Belt, which is a designated area preventing further expansion of London. The historic Great North Road leads out of Chipping Barnet and into Potters Bar at the other side of the Green Belt.
Barnet is represented in sport by Barnet Football Club. Founded 1888, they are nicknamed 'The Bees'. Since 2013 they have played their home games at the Hive Stadium in the borough of Harrow, around six miles southwest of Chipping Barnet itself. Their former ground was Underhill where they played for 106 years until they were forced to leave following a dispute with Barnet Council.
Famous people from Barnet include film critic Mark Kermode, singer Elaine Paige, cricketer Phil Tufnell and TV & radio presenter Johnny Vaughan.

10 Greenest Boroughs in London
What are the greenest areas in London? We live in an increasingly urbanized world which, if left with the pace of industrialization and growth, may soon become uninhabitable. Making our cities more environmentally friendly requires that all hands be on deck. Cities in the UK are sparing no effort when it comes to making more green space available for residents. Let’s now illustrate this by considering the 10 greenest boroughs in London.
Which ones of the 32 boroughs in London Boroughs are leading the way in this regard? You will find an interesting discussion in the ranking in this video based on what regional data elements such as pollution, quality of life, life expectancy, and available green spaces reveal about these 10 greenest boroughs in London.
10. Westminster
Let’s start with Westminster. This borough in Inner London forms a core part of Central London. This borough occupies a vast area of central Greater London and this includes most of the West End. Westminster is one of the greenest boroughs in London.
The borough has a population of 261,317, according to the 2019 estimate. The city's size is about 21.5 square kilometers. In the Green City Index which assigns scores to calculate how much green space is there in an area, Westminster scores 40.76 out of a possible score of 60. Westminster Borough is largely residential. It has many large parks and numerous open spaces, including Hyde Park and Regents Park. It’s a green borough despite its high population density.
9. Hammersmith & Fulham
This is a borough in West London that also forms part of Inner London. It was formed in 1965 by merging the former Metropolitan Boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham. It is one of the 10 greenest boroughs in London. It’s home to three professional soccer clubs, namely Chelsea, Fulham, and Queens Park Rangers.
Based on its total area of 16.40 square kilometers and its population of 186,143, it may have some challenges with its population density of 11,000 residents per kilometer square. Hammersmith & Fulham have a green space score of 41.05, doing well in all six criteria. It devotes 231 hectares of land to parks and open spaces accessible to the general public. Of these 159 hectares are within parks and 52.5 hectares are cemeteries and churchyards.
8. Croydon
Croydon, the southernmost borough of London, has transformed from a small market town into one of the most populous areas on the city’s fringe. It’s the eighth-greenest borough in London. With a total area of 86.5 square kilometers, Croydon is the second-largest borough in London and the fifteenth in England. It has a population of 386,710, according to the 2019 estimate.
Gone are the days when it was being criticized for not having enough leisure facilities and being ranked as a three-star borough. Its current green space score is 41.73 out of 60. This is not bad, you would agree. It has over 120 parks and open spaces, ranging from the 0.81 square kilometer Selsdon Wood Nature Reserve to so many recreation grounds and sports fields dotting the borough.
7. Merton
Merton borough was a product of the Municipal Borough of Mitcham, the Municipal Borough of Wimbledon, and the Merton and Morden Urban District. Occupying a total area of 37.6 square kilometers, its 2019 estimated population was 206,548.
Based on the criteria such as green outdoor space, green space percentage, air quality, number of parks, number of gardens, number of nature and wildlife areas, number of playgrounds, bodies of water, and number of forests, Merton gathers a total score of 42.73 in green space score.
