Steve Reed Tourism Road Trip around North West England

A brand new movie produced by UK travel trade specialists Steve Reed Tourism ofHampshire working with North Wales based Eastwood Media from Flintshire is now ready for coach and tour operators and Group Tour Operators around the country.

And it’s Northwest England that has been in sharp focus.

It’s one of eight short films shot at attractions and destinations around England and Wales over the last fourteen months. Each with the idea of helping organisers to put their tours and excursions together. Each film produced by Steve Reed Tourism when completed is distributed to the many coach and tour operators and GTOS on the SRT tour planner databases.

The sites involved in the Northwest film were Samlesbury Hall near Preston in Lancashire complete with well-known tour guide Simon Entwhistle; Ena Mill Retail – famous for its landmark chimney - in Atherton Greater Manchester; Olympus Fish and Chip Restaurant in Bolton run by Bolton icon Dr Tasos Pattichis and the superb twin attractions of Macclesfield Silk Museum and stunning Paradise Mill in Cheshire.

Daish’s Hotel Blackpool [on the North Shore] was the hotel used for the film and demonstrated how well located it was to conduct such a new and interesting tour to the attractions in the film. It’s one of twelve hotels in ten UK destinations around the Country operated by Daish’s Holidays.

‘Each of the sites chosen for the film proved to be extremely complimentary to each other – offering a service or an experience different from the other venues and attractions,’ says Steve Reed.

‘They make for a real live tour too – providing a first class service to groups whether it’s shopping bargains; excellent and friendly accommodation; delicious fish and chips; a historic Tudor building and tour guide as well as a fascinating journey back to the days of silk production.

1. Palm Cove
2. Nudey Beach
3. Lake Eacham
4. Josephine falls
5. Milla Milla Falls

All about these places is coming up my next YouTube video so stay tuned!

Deserted GHOST Town | ATHERTON Town Centre Walking Tour

Walking around the town centre of Atherton, a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan in Greater Manchester and historically part of Lancashire. My Adventure Planet

The town, including Hindsford, Howe Bridge and Hag Fold, is 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Bolton, 7 miles (11.3 km) east of Wigan, and 10 miles (16.1 km) northwest of Manchester.

From the 17th century, for about 300 years, Atherton was known as Chowbent, which was frequently shortened to Bent, the town's old nickname.

During the Industrial Revolution, the town was a key part of the Manchester Coalfield.

Atherton was associated with coal mining and nail manufacture from the 14th century, encouraged by outcropping coal seams.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the town was described as the centre of a district of collieries, cotton mills and iron-works, which cover the surface of the country with their inartistic buildings and surroundings and are linked together by the equally unlovely dwellings of the people.

Atherton's last deep coal mine closed in 1966 and the last cotton mill closed in 1999.

Today the town is the third-largest retail centre in the Borough of Wigan; almost 20% of those employed in the area work in the wholesale and retail trades, although there is still some significant manufacturing industry in the town.

Evidence has been discovered of a Roman road passing through the area, on the ancient route between Coccium (Wigan) and Mamucium (Manchester).

Following the Anglo-Saxon invasion of England, Atherton, which is built on and around seven brooks, became part of the manor of Warrington until the Norman conquest, when it became a township or vill in the ancient parish of Leigh.

Since 1974 the town has been part of the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, a local government district of the Metropolitan County of Greater Manchester and since 2010 it has been part of the Bolton West parliamentary constituency.

Lizard Point & Housel Bay - Cornwall | Harry's Hikes - Relax

Lizard Point is mainland Britain's most southerly point, infamous as a site of shipwrecks in the past and overlooking what is still one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. There are a couple of small cafes and art shops.

Housel Bay nearby boast a stunning sandy beach surrounded by cliffs on one side and the crystal clear sea on the other. With very few people it's ideal for a secluded retreat and swim (always check the tides).
