B480 Niedersfeld - Winterberg - Kahler Asten (D)
The B480 is a state road in western Germany in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The road is 94 kilometers long and crosses the Sauerland, a low mountain range. The B480 starts at Kreuz Wünnenberg-Haaren and via Bad Wünnenberg, Brilon, Olsberg, Winterberg and Bad Berleburg the B480 heads south to the connection with the B62 (Siegen-Marburg).
We start this video at 500m above sea level in an unnamed car parking at the B480. Our intended destination is at an altitude of 841 meters: the Kahler Asten. After departure we soon drive into the village of Niedersfeld, the last built-up area before we reach Winterberg. We continue to follow the Ruhr until we reach the source of the Ruhr (Ruhrquelle) just before Winterberg (at an altitude of 674 metres).
Winterberg is a winter sports resort in the Sauerland and very popular with the Dutch because of the short travel distance to the Netherlands. Winterberg is known for its ski jump. A small replica is placed on a roundabout when entering the place. At Winterberg the B480 connects to the B236 to Marburg and Olpe/Dortmund. We are now at an altitude of 700 meters.
The B480 does not enter Winterberg, but remains on its edge. We pass through some tunnels and ziplines, one of which is named after Snow White. We leave the B480 and via the L640 and L540 we drive to the Kahler Asten, the second highest mountain in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The video ends with a number of photos of the Kahler Asten.

De B480 is een Bundesstraβe in het westen van Duitsland in de deelstaat Nordrhein-Westfalen. De weg is 94 kilometer lang en doorkruist het Sauerland. De B480 start op Kreuz Wünnenberg-Haaren en via Bad Wünnenberg, Brilon, Olsberg, Winterberg en Bad Berleburg gaat de B480 zuidwaarts naar de aansluiting met de B62 (Siegen-Marburg).
We beginnen deze video op 500 meter boven zeeniveau op een naamloze parkeerplaats langs de B480. Ons beoogde eindpunt ligt op 841 meter hoogte: de Kahler Asten. Na vertrek rijden we al snel het dorp Niedersfeld in, de laatste bebouwde kom voordat we Winterberg bereiken. We volgen nog steeds de Ruhr totdat we vlak voor Winterberg de bron van de Ruhr (Ruhrquelle) bereiken (op 674 meter hoogte).
Winterberg is een wintersportplaats in het Sauerland en bij Nederlanders zeer populair vanwege de korte reisafstand tot Nederland. Winterberg is o.a. bekend van zijn skischans. Een kleine replica is geplaatst op een rotonde bij het binnenrijden van de plaats. Bij Winterberg sluit de B480 aan op de B236 naar Marburg en Olpe/Dortmund. We bevinden ons intussen op 700 meter hoogte.
De B480 gaat niet de plaats Winterberg in, maar blijft aan de rand daarvan. We passeren enkele tunnels en kabelbanen waarvan er een is vernoemd naar Sneeuwwitje. We verlaten de B480 en via de L640 en L540 rijden we naar de Kahler Asten, de op een na hoogste berg van de Duitse deelstaat Nordrhein-Westfalen. De video eindigt met een aantal foto’s van de Kahler Asten.

The Sauerland is a rural, hilly area spreading across most of the south-eastern part of North Rhine-Westphalia, in parts heavily forested and, apart from the major valleys, sparsely inhabited.
For these reasons, it has been chosen as the first place in Germany to reintroduce the Wisent (European bison).
The Sauerland is the largest tourist region in North Rhine-Westphalia, in particular for mountain biking & cycling, water sports and scenic recreation.
The town and Skiliftkarussell of Winterberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis is a major winter sport resort.
Before 1800 the western part of the Sauerland was part of the County of the Mark based in Altena.
The eastern part adhered to the County of Arnsberg, later became known as the Duchy of Westphalia and was owned by the Archbishops and Electorate of Cologne.
The Duchy of Limburg covered a very small area in the lower Lenne river valley.
After the Napoleonic Wars the area became part of Prussia and was integrated into the new province of Westphalia.
After World War II Westphalia was merged with the new federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Today, the Sauerland belongs to the districts Märkischer Kreis, Olpe and Hochsauerland.
The western part of the Hessian district Waldeck-Frankenberg is also attributed to the Sauerland because of its geomorphological as well as sociocultural similarity and the stark contrast to the rest of the adjoining Hessian landscape.
Today the Sauerland is a popular tourist area, attracting many visitors from the Ruhr Area and relatively close Netherlands.
The forests and picturesque small towns are attractive for hikers and outdoor sports.
There are more than 30,000 km of tagged hiking trails in Sauerland region maintained by Sauerland hiking association.
Some of the towns have the title Bad (Spa) because of their good air quality and stimulating climate.
Winter sports are popular in the Sauerland.
The bob sleigh track in Winterberg is widely known in Germany, as well as the ski jumping in Willingen.
Sauerland also has a successful theme park called Fort Fun.
Balve Cave is one of the biggest prehistorical caves of Europe and is situated in Balve.
The largest accessible limestone cave outside the Alps is in Attendorn.

Die Dreharbeiten zu dieser Sendung fanden vor Ausbruch der Corona-Pandemie statt. In diesem Jahr gibt es Zugangskontrollen zu den Märkten, die in dieser Sendung nicht vorkommen. Auch kann es sein, dass eine hier gezeigte Veranstaltung kurzfristig abgesagt wurde. Wenn uns diese Information vorlag, haben wir es im Film kenntlich gemacht.
In der Dechenhöhle macht Tamina Kallert zusammen mit Reiner Hänsch, dem Leadsänger der legendären Rockgruppe „Zoff“, von der das berühmte „Sauerlandlied“ stammt, einen musikalischen Rundgang durch die unterirdischen Konzerthallen. Und in Eversberg begleitet sie auf ihrer Geige die Gruppe „Twersbraken“ bei ihrem Weihnachtsprogramm. Unterstützung bekommt sie in Attendorn: WDR-Moderatorin Anne Willmes stellt ihren Heimatort samt Bratapfelkuchen und Adventssingen vor.

Museum Klok & Peel - Klokken voor Amerika - 'Het Dorp' van Wim Sonneveld klinkt over Washington DC
Het Netherlands Carillon werd in 1953 aan de Verenigde Staten geschonken als nationale dankbetuiging voor de inzet van de Amerikanen aan de bevrijding van Nederland en voor de door hen verleende Marshallhulp.
In het kader van '75 jaar vrijheid' werd het gehele Netherlands Carillon in gerestaureerd én uitgebreid tot een 51 klokken tellend 'grand American carillon' door Koninklijke Eijsbouts Klokkengieterij in Asten.
Voor Museum Klok & Peel een uitgelezen kans om er de tentoonstelling 'Klokken voor Amerika' aan vast te knopen, waarin het smeuïge verhaal van het Netherlands Carillon in geuren en kleuren wordt verteld.
Intussen zijn de klokken van Arlington inderdaad in Asten opgeknapt, uitgebreid en herstemd. De officiële oplevering vond begin juni plaats. Bij die gelegenheid strooide beiaardier Luc Rombouts wederom op en top Nederlandse - zelfs Peellandse - klanken over Arlington en Washington DC uit. Hij speelde Het Dorp van Wim Sonneveld, het lied waarvan Friso Wiegersma de tekst schreef als herinnering aan zijn geboortedorp Deurne.

Europe has lots of things to offer, sometime it's more fun when you embark on a journey without much planning of destination. That's what we did this time when we planned our weekend getaway to Germany.
Next day of our trip, we decided to go on snow mountain to enjoy sledging and near by mountain was in Winterberg city which was around 30 km from our hotel. We headed to kahler asten mountain and we parked the car on top of the mountain. From there we started walking down the hill on snow mountain and there we took sledging on rent for 5 euro and enjoyed our day at mountain.
We travelled to Sauerland region in Germany which is famous for it's mountains, hiking trails, biking paths and for lots of other activities. We stayed in Lennestadt city which is one of the big city in that region, this was our base to explore sking mountains in the region.

Our Europe Road Travel | Netherlands To Germany | In Hindi | Part 3
Europe has lots of things to offer, sometime it's more fun when you embark on a journey without much planning of destination. That's what we did this time when we planned our weekend getaway to Germany.
Next day of our trip, we decided to go on snow mountain to enjoy sledging and near by mountain was in Winterberg city which was around 30 km from our hotel. In the evening, we went to winter berg city, where we could park our car for 90 minutes without any cost, it is a popular skiing destination for dutch people and you can find many cars from Netherlands. We did some quick shopping there and then left to our hotel and stayed near-by place for dinner.
