Places to see in ( Ascot - UK )
Ascot is a small town in East Berkshire, England, 6 miles south of Windsor, 4 miles east of Bracknell and 25 miles west of London. It is most notable as the location of Ascot Racecourse, home of the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting. The town comprises three areas: Ascot itself, North Ascot and South Ascot. It is in the civil parish of Sunninghill and Ascot.
Ascot is in the district administered by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, a unitary authority. Ascot, South Ascot and a small part of North Ascot are in the civil parish of Sunninghill and Ascot, although most of North Ascot is in the civil parish of Winkfield, in the district of Bracknell Forest.
Facilities tend to be geared towards the racecourse, but there is a small range of shops in the wide High Street. Most of the expected facilities one would expect to find in a small town are here, including a supermarket, petrol station and many cafes (including a Starbucks and a Costa, a Subway, Tesco Express and Budgens). Most buildings are post-war with flats above the ground floor retail space. Heatherwood Hospital (filming location for Carry on Matron) was at the western edge of the town. Ascot has a station on a bi-section of the railway line from London Waterloo to Reading, Bagshot, Aldershot and Guildford, originally built by the London and South Western Railway and now operated by South West Trains. As a consequence of the frequent service on this line, Ascot is now a commuter centre with its residents in both directions (westwards to Reading and eastwards to London).
The centrepiece of Ascot's year is held in June: Royal Ascot is without doubt the world's most famous race meeting, steeped in history dating back to 1711. The royal family attend the meeting, arriving each day in a horse-drawn carriage. It is a major event in the British social calendar. Although this has placed Ascot onto the British social map, it has many direct effects on the local community, not least of which are the associated traffic problems. The course is still owned by the crown.
Ascot Racecourse employs over 70 full-time staff, which increases temporarily to 6,000 during Royal Ascot week. The village has a variety of businesses located at the Ascot Business Park, opened in 2008, including the UK headquarters of global toy manufactuter Jakks Pacific, in addition to numerous small and medium enterprises. The Chartered Institute of Building, a professional body for those working in the construction industry and built environment, is also based in Ascot.

Ascot Walk: Town Centre & Racecourse【4K】
Located in the county of Berkshire, around 6 miles west of the M25 motorway which roughly encircles London, is the town of Ascot.
The name Ascot is derived from Anglo-Saxon - East-Cote, meaning the Eastern Cottage, probably in reference to being east of the royal estate at Easthampstead, a former village and now a suburb of Bracknell, the neighbouring town to the west.
For most of its history, Ascot consisted largely of dangerous heathland frequented by highwaymen. In the early 18th century Queen Anne discovered this open heathland whilst hunting in Windsor Forest which she thought an ideal place, around five miles away from Windsor Castle, for horses to gallop at full stretch.
Thus, Ascot Racecourse was founded in 1711. The first race took place on the 11th of August that year, named 'Her Majesty's Plate', worth 100 guineas. Then in 1768 the racecourse would go on to host the first of what was to become one of the most famous events in all of horse racing - Royal Ascot.
Taking place each June during the flat season (i.e. no fences or hurdles), Royal Ascot is a five-day horse racing festival. Each of the five days begins with the Queen and other members of the royal family arriving via horse-drawn carriage - a tradition started in 1825 by George IV. The festival upholds the strictest of dress codes, including top hats for the men!
The most successful jockey at Royal Ascot is Frankie Dettori with a career total of 73 wins over the event at the time of writing. The most successful horse in terms of Gold Cup wins is Yeats.

Places to see in ( Windsor - UK )
Places to see in ( Windsor - UK )
Windsor is a town on the River Thames in southeast England, just west of London. It’s home to Windsor Castle, a residence of the British Royal Family. Built by William The Conqueror in the 11th century, the castle was extensively remodelled by subsequent monarchs. Public tours take in the State Apartments, which contain opulent furnishings, and paintings from the royal art collection.
Windsor is a historic market town and unparished area in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in Berkshire, England. Windsor is widely known as the site of Windsor Castle, one of the official residences of the British Royal Family.
Windsor is situated 23 miles (37 km) west of Charing Cross, London, 7 miles (11 km) south east of Maidenhead, and 21 miles (34 km) east of the county town of Reading. It is immediately south of the River Thames, which forms its boundary with its ancient twin town of Eton. The village of Old Windsor, just over 2 miles (3 km) to the south, predates what is now called Windsor by around 300 years; in the past Windsor was formally referred to as New Windsor to distinguish the two.
As a result of the castle, Windsor is a popular tourist destination and has facilities usually found in larger towns: two railway stations, a theatre and several substantial hotels. Various boat trips operate on the River Thames, with connections to Maidenhead and Staines-upon-Thames. In winter, Alexandra Gardens hosts a temporary ice rink. Near the town is Legoland Windsor, the only Legoland park in the United Kingdom and the largest Legoland park in the world in terms of area. Legoland Windsor was built on the site of the former Windsor Safari Park.
Windsor is accessible from Junction 6 of the M4 and from Slough via a 3 mile long dual carriageway. Windsor has two railway stations. Windsor & Eton Central railway station has a shuttle service to Slough. Windsor & Eton Riverside station provides a service to London Waterloo. Windsor is linked to the town of Eton (on the opposite bank of the River Thames) by Windsor Bridge.

Public tours take in the State Apartments, which contain opulent furnishings, and paintings from the royal art collection.
In the castle grounds, the fan-vaulted, 15th-century St. George’s Chapel holds royal tombs including that of Henry VIII, George V and Charles I. Boat trips provide views of the castle from the river. The Magna Carta was signed at riverside Runnymede in 1215. Windsor Great Park was once a royal hunting ground, and its 5,000 acres of gardens, woodland and grassland are open to the public. The Royal Windsor Horse Show (May) and Royal Ascot (June) horse races at the nearby Ascot Racecourse are often attended by members of the royal family. The Legoland Windsor Resort theme park is just outside town.
