MAP OF UGANDA
greetings my friends. this is a map of Uganda. Its geography is very diverse consisting of volcanic hills, mountains, and lakes. The country sits at an average of 900 meters above sea level. Both the eastern and western borders of Uganda have mountains. The Ruwenzori mountain range contains the highest peak in Uganda, which is named Alexandra and measures 5,094 meters.
also , Much of the south of the country is heavily influenced by one of the world's biggest lakes, Lake Victoria, which contains many islands. The most important cities are located in the south, near this lake, including the capital Kampala and the nearby city of Entebbe. Lake Kyoga is in the centre of the country and is surrounded by extensive marshy areas.
Although landlocked, Uganda contains many large lakes. Besides Lakes Victoria and Kyoga, there are Lake Albert, Lake Edward, and the smaller Lake George. It lies almost completely within the Nile basin. The Victoria Nile drains from Lake Victoria into Lake Kyoga and thence into Lake Albert on the Congolese border. It then runs northwards into South Sudan. An area in eastern Uganda is drained by the Suam River, part of the internal drainage basin of Lake Turkana. The extreme north-eastern part of Uganda drains into the Lotikipi Basin, which is primarily in Kenya. thats all for now. please comment and subscribe for the best maps. goodbye.

A force consisting of the Tanzania People's Defence Force's 201st Brigade and the Uganda National Liberation Front's Kikosi Maalum attacked Lira on 15 May 1979, ousting the Amin loyalists after a short battle. The clash at Lira was the last important battle of the Uganda–Tanzania War, as the remnants of Amin's army completely disintegrated thereafter.

3 WEEKS IN NORTHERN UGANDA (Immersion Trip)
In July 2019, together with 10 fellow students, I participated in an immersion trip organised by UP Leuven and the Belgian NGO Broederlijk Delen. We mainly discovered northern Uganda together (Lira, Apac, Massindi and Murchison Falls National Park).
We visited the Eco recycle project in Kampala, the Kiryandongo refugee camp (with FINASP), the ICES farm, the initiatives of Caritas, AFSRT and FAPAD and we met with the XAVERI youth.
Learn more about Broederlijk Delen and its partner organisations here:

We also had a lovely three-day stay with a family in rural Uganda in groups of 2 (a video of this experience will follow).
To top it all off, we ‘glamped’ between the hippos, went on a safari, hiked to the top of Murchison Falls and mountainbiked around Entebbe.

The Aboke abductions were the kidnapping of 139 secondary school female students from St. Mary's College boarding school by rebels of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) on 10 October 1996, in Aboke, Kole District (then part of Apac District), Uganda. The deputy headmistress of the college, Sister Rachele Fassera of Italy, pursued the rebels and successfully negotiated the release of 109 of the girls. The Aboke abductions and Fassera's dramatic actions drew international attention, unprecedented at that time, to the insurgency in northern Uganda.

Luo [of Kenya] vs Lango [of Uganda]- Language Comparison
Lango is one of the Luo tribes of Northern Uganda. Sometimes, the current generation refer to themselves as Langi. As a luo explorer, Lango was one of the tribes [or sub tribes] that I listed for comparison. This video entails a comparison between Luo of Kenya and the Lango tribe of Northern Uganda, thanks to @guki8015 It captures the surprising resemblance and difference between what is clearly long-lost brothers

This Will Fundamentally Change the Way You Look at Lango and Nuer
If you love heritage, you are in the right place and I guarantee you will be both enlightened and entertained
Lately I have been taking keen interest in similarities and differences in the way the different Luo speaking Nilotic tribes do speak Luo.
So in my quest I downloaded the Nuer dictionary and went through. I was blown away by what I was reading.
Okey, I know the Nuer and Lango are related but distant relatives. But I did not expect that we still share so many words with them. Curiosity promted me to look for a Nuer speaker so we can compare notes.
I approached a young man called Mha Chang who rans a popular You Tube channel called Nuer Online. He is very proud of his heritage and teaches the Nuer Language also called thoknath on You Tube. The link to his channel is below. I encourage yyouto check him out.
I asked him to read for me a few words and ssentencesin Thoknath which have similar sounds and meanigs with Leblango.
This is part one of the two part series.
WHO ARE THE LANGO?
hLnago oral tradition states that they were part of the Lango race during the migration period. This group later split into several distinct groups before entering Uganda[4] (see Tarantino, Odwe, Crazollara, Uzoigwe). The name “Lango” is found in Teso, Kumam, Karamojong, Jie, and Labwor vocabularies, reflecting that how these groups once used to belong to the Lango race.[4]
The Lango is especially noted for the care bestowed on their elaborate and highly fantastic head-dress. The prevailing fashion may be described as a kind of a helmet... Lango women, who amongst the finest and most symmetrical of the Equatorial lake regions, wear little clothing or embellishments beyond west-bands, necklaces, armlets, and anklets (p. 360).
Icaya (Isaya) Ogwangguji, M.B.E.
Rwot Ogwangguji was born in 1875 in Abedpiny village in Lira District (Okino, Patrick, and Odongo, Bonney). He was the son of a Rwot (chief) – Rwot Olet Apar, the leader of the Oki clan.[8] His first administrative chief title was the Jago (sub-chief) of Lira. In 1918, he was elected county chief (Rwot) by Erute county, Lango. He continued as Rwot of Erute county until February 28, 1951, and was later promoted to the title of Rwot Adwong (Senior Chief). Rwot Ogwangguji is known as a chief who bridged old Lango into new Lango through his extensive work history during a period of many changes in the 20th century in Uganda. He was awarded the M.B.E. in the New Year's Honors in 1956 and subsequently retired in December 1957. (Wright, M.J., Uganda Journal, Vol. 22, Issue 2, 1958).
The Lango army was united under one military leader chosen from available men, and all had to agree to be led by him.[6][4] These military leaders would lead the Lango army against other groups. Their authority ended when the war was over, and they all returned to their clans and resumed their daily occupations and were not entitled to any special benefits. Famous military leaders were Ongora Okubal, who brought the Lango to their present land, Opyen who succeeded Ongora Okubal and was followed by Arim Oroba, and Agoro Abwango. Agoro Abwango led his men to fight the Banyoro and was killed in Bunyoro.[9] The Lango oral literature has it that as the soldiers who went to help Kabalega retreated towards the Nile, they helped Kabalega and Mwanga, the deposed King of Bunyoro and Buganda respectively cross the Nile River.[6] They were moved along the northern corridor of Lake Kwania. At the time, a warrior called Obol Ario who had conquered much of the northern part of the lake was there. It's believed he helped smuggle the two deposed kings towards Dokolo, where they settled at Kangai. Obol Ario of Apac Okwero Ngec Ayita Clan eventually settled at Amac where he later died and was buried.
THE NUER
The Nuer people are a Nilotic ethnic group concentrated in the Greater Upper Nile region of South Sudan. They also live in the Ethiopian region of Gambella. The Nuer speak the Nuer language, which belongs to the Nilotic language family. They are the second largest ethnic group in South Sudan. The Nuer people are pastoralists who herd cattle for a living. Their cattle serve as companions and define their lifestyle.[ te Nuer call themselves Naath.[
