Taking its name after the term for highlander or mountain dweller, the landlocked province is surrounded by caves, rising peaks, and roaring rivers. This pastoral plateau is home to 7 indigenous groups, each named after the bodies of water near their initial dwelling places. These days, the province is known for its traditions and cultural, aesthetic, and artistic heritage, as well as nature trails and activities. These attractions can be seen and accessed year-round, but most of the adventure resorts and hotels in Bukidnon fill up with tourists during the Kaamulan Festival.

Roadtrip: Cagayan de Oro to Libona via Indahag, to Camp Philips to Alae to Cagayan de Oro
A date to remember with hubby. Quality but not that costly. We used a motorcycle so spent only a few bucks for fuel. The view was awesome.

ROADTRIP - Tagoloan - Malitbog - Claveria
Our road trip took us from Cagayan de Oro City on the coastal road to Tagoloan. Here we turned right after the bridge over the Tagoloan River to get to Sta. Ana and on to Malitbog in Bukidnon province. I remembered this road as being very bad in parts years ago and it was almost developed.
In the municipality of Malitbog, the fiesta festivities were in full swing. Many people on the road at the imposing cultural centre. There, the stands were packed with spectators waiting for the basketball teams to enter.
We had the opportunity to visit the new tourist office, which was beautifully decorated with Lumad figures and Lumad souvenirs.
We continued to San Luis and asked our way from here to Claveria, to the barangay Lanise and there to the N 955. From here, we wanted to continue via barangay Mat-i to JULIO's Bar and Restaurant with a great view of the valley.
This part of the route was new territory for me, too, and there are some roads here that are good or not so good, and some parts are still more like dirt roads, but new roads are being built. So we were allowed to experience adventurous river crossings and partly also a car ride in the clouds and above the clouds, on a rainy day with an exceedingly lush green landscape.
Finally, we reached our destination for the day, JULIO's, and had something to eat there, coffee and cake from a rich and balanced food and drink menu at reasonable prices. As we made our way home, the weather once again showed itself to be merciful and allowed us to catch a glimpse of some of the beautiful valley scenery.
The return journey then took us along the N 955 via the zig-zag road down to the coast to Villanueva. When we passed through Tagoloan, it was already dark and the Christmas lights at Rizal Park and the Plaza in the dense evening traffic were once again beautiful impressions.
It was a fantastic afternoon in Mindanao.
