Brezovica is a settlement in the Štrpce municipality in Kosovo, known for its Brezovica ski resort. According to the 2011 Census, Brezovica's total population is 68.
Brezovica is one of the most visited winter tourist destinations in Kosovo.[citation needed] The ski resort area is ideally situated on the north and northwest-facing slopes of the Šar National Park. The ridge line spans 39,000 hectares of high alpine mountain terrain and forests, with a highly diverse and abundant flora and fauna. Located within 90 minutes of two international airports, the Brezovica resort area represents one of the last remaining under-developed ski resort areas in Southeast Europe.
It is situated in the northeastern part of the Sharri Mountains, and in the drainage basin of the Lepenac river. The Brezovica ski resort is situated between 900 m and 2,500 m above sea level, about 14km south of the village. There is a combination of mild valley climate in the lower parts and Alpine climate in the higher regions.

Driving through Sharr Mountain National Park in south west Kosovo, stopping by the Prizren Viewpoint & discovering a few unpaved roads along the way. The route takes me through Reçan & Prevalla. 🇽🇰 See my Road Trip in Kosovo here →
The Sharr Mountain National Park (Parku kombetar Malet e Sharrit) area in Kosovo is reputedly one of the most beautiful and untouched regions of Kosovo, harnessing forest covered mountains, rolling valleys, pretty little towns and villages, as well as a lot of viewpoints and points of interest.
I left Prizren with minimal information and no hardened plans - my intention was to just drive! My only objective was to reach Pristina by nightfall and enjoy the scenery as I drove. My first stop was at a place called the Prizren Viewpoint where I found a beautiful view looking back at the city in the distance. A scattering of small hilltop villages could be seen all around and apart from the odd car driving past there was nobody around for miles.
Further up the road I stopped at another viewpoint that looked out the other way, and whilst the view was magnificent I couldn’t help but to feel saddened by the incredible amount of rubbish dumped on the side of the road. Why would anybody do that? I wanted to highlight it in this video because unfortunately it’s not an isolated incident, I’ve seen tonnes of waste dumped all over the country. To be fair, it’s not just Kosovo - this is a trend I’ve seen in many of the Balkan countries. Let's hope things start to change in the not too distant future.
The route continued past various hiking trails and roadside memorials dedicated to fallen UCK (Kosovo Liberation Army) soldiers. It got me thinking once again how this spectacular area that these days I can just freely drive through would have been a war zone just a few decades ago. Looking around and listening to the silence you would never know.
I managed to connect onto a few unpaved roads and for a little while I was worried about what I had gotten myself into, thankfully everything worked out and I arrived in the small town of Reçan where I took a walk past the river and along its main street. I continued on to a ski village called Prevalla where the temperature turned cold with all the additional elevation I’d gained.
I took a quick look around a local market and then got back on the road, heading for the eastern region of the mighty Sharr Mountains.

Ljuboten - Sar planina 2498 mnv
Ljuboten je jedan od vrhova na Šar-planini, visok 2.498 metara. Ivan Jastrebov je zapisao da od Štrpca, od samog podnožja ove planine do vrha Ljubotena ima pet sati hoda. Ljuboten je sa strane Kačanika blaži, ali sa strane sela Štrpca je strma. Na vrh se pola sata treba penjati gotovo četveronoške. Na vrhu je ravno mjesto od oko 4 kvadratnih hvata sa fantastičnim pogledom na sve strane. Vidi se Kačanik, Skoplje, ispod je Tetovsko polje, Gostivar, cijelo Podrimlje, Dečani, Peć, Đakovica, Priština, Gnjilane. Po Jastrebovu, nema boljeg mjesta odakle se vide Stara Srbija i Ljuboten kao središnja tačka te Srbije. Na ovaj uspon odlučili smo da povedemo i tri mladja člana expedicije od kojih najmlađi ima fantastičnih 6 godina.
