Rotterdam walk - Residential area Schiebroek ☀️ | Netherlands | 4K60 Walking Tour | Binaural Audio

Today we are going for a walk through the Rotterdam district of Schiebroek.
This is the place where I grew up and as a child I often played in the streets of the neighbourhood.

Schiebroek is a former municipality in the polder of the same name in the north of the municipality of Rotterdam.

Peat was extracted on a large scale in the 17th and 18th centuries. As a result, it increasingly became a puddle area. From 1773, Schiebroek was turned into a polder by constructing quays, canals and ditches.

The polder was drained by a number of windmills.

Walking Tour Of The City Center In Rotterdam - Discover Rotterdam /4k Ultra Hd

Rotterdam is a port city in the west of the Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. With 588,490 inhabitants (1 January 2021) it is the second largest city in the Netherlands in terms of population, after Amsterdam. The entire municipality of Rotterdam has 656,050 inhabitants, and the even larger metropolitan region of Rotterdam The Hague has more than 2.4 million inhabitants.

Rotterdam owes its name to a dam in the river Rotte. The city is located on the Nieuwe Maas, one of the rivers in the delta formed by the Rhine and the Meuse. The port of Rotterdam was for a long time the largest in the world and is still the largest and most important in Europe. The port area extends over a length of 40 kilometers and is an important logistics and economic center. Partly because of the port industry, Rotterdam has the image of a working-class city and the city has a very diverse population.

After the historic city center was largely destroyed by a German war bombing in 1940, Rotterdam has become a cradle for innovative architecture, including the Erasmus Bridge, the Cube Houses and a large number of skyscrapers. The city is also known for the Erasmus University, the art collections of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Kunsthal and football clubs Sparta, Excelsior and Feyenoord.

(The Dam on the River Rotte) is the second largest city and municipality in the Netherlands. It is in the province of South Holland, at the mouth of the Nieuwe Maas channel leading into the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt delta at the North Sea. Its history goes back to 1270, when a dam was constructed in the Rotte. In 1340, Rotterdam was granted city rights by William IV, Count of Holland. The Rotterdam–The Hague metropolitan area, with a population of approximately 2.7 million, is the 10th-largest in the European Union and the most populous in the country.
A major logistic and economic centre, Rotterdam is Europe's largest seaport. In 2020, it had a population of 651,446 and is home to over 180 nationalities. Rotterdam is known for its university, riverside setting, lively cultural life, maritime heritage and modern architecture. The near-complete destruction of the city centre in the World War II Rotterdam Blitz has resulted in a varied architectural landscape, including skyscrapers designed by architects such as Rem Koolhaas, Piet Blom and Ben van Berkel.
The Rhine, Meuse and Scheldt give waterway access into the heart of Western Europe, including the highly industrialized Ruhr. The extensive distribution system including rail, roads, and waterways have earned Rotterdam the nicknames Gateway to Europe and Gateway to the World.

Rotterdam Central Station 4K (Trains, Metro, Tram & Buses) | The Netherlands (English sub)

Rotterdam Centraal /Central Station is one of the busiest stations in the Netherlands. Construction of this was started in 2004 and opened in March 2014. This has been built by considering all public transportation modes including trains, metro, trams and buses. This place has used by around 170,000 people per day in 2018.

This has been built according to a modern architectural design. This place has around 3,000 solar panels on the rooftop which generate the power for all the lights, escalators and lifts in the building. Also this place has a very large space for bicycle parking underneath the building. There we can park around 5,000 bicycles at once.

ROTTERDAM - 4K Walking Video - Netherlands

Rotterdam is the second largest city in the Netherlands after Amsterdam. Due to the largest seaport in Europe, it is an important transport hub for freight traffic. Besides Amsterdam and The Hague, Rotterdam is also one of the cultural centers of the Netherlands. Rotterdam has a university, several technical colleges, a conservatory and an art academy. It is the leading industrial and commercial city in the Netherlands. What is striking is the Rotterdam skyscraper silhouette, which has been developing since the mid-1980s.

Walking in Rotterdam Centrum ,Nederlands Walking Tour #(4k 60fps)

#4K #Rotterdam is located in the south of the #Netherlands, on the North Sea coast. The city, whose history dates back to the 1270s, was granted the right to become a city by the Dutch Counts in 1340 and gradually became an important logistics and economic center. Almost completely destroyed during the Second World War, the city was rebuilt between 1950 and 1970. Today it is home to Europe's largest port and is the Netherlands' second largest city after Amsterdam and the country's most important commercial centre. .

Rotterdam's #ultra-modern architecture is one of the city's most interesting elements. Unlike most European cities, it is Post-modern structures, different geometric patterns and interesting bridges, not Medieval gothic structures that mark the city. Besides its architecture, the city is a city of culture and festivals. It is possible to come across the best museums and exhibitions of the country and even #Europe in the city, which does not go a month without a festival. You can come across stylish restaurants, cool #coffee shops and street stalls in every street of the city and taste delicious flavors. In addition to these, it is possible to experience the best of shopping and nightlife in the city. There are hundreds of shopping points in the city. The nightlife, on the other hand, moves so fast that it is really difficult to keep up.

The best time to visit Rotterdam is 3 days in spring or summer. During these months, which is the busiest period of the city, a festival or event is held every week. You can spend time in the city's parks, take long walks in the harbor, and enjoy the streets. In short, Rotterdam is a city worth seeing with everything that appeals to people from all walks of life.
