Exploring remote villages in Abruzzo Italy(Italy Vlog)
In today's video I am going to take you through a day in the life in Italy, as we explore two beautiful Italian villages in the region of Abruzzo. The first being Loreto Aprutino and the second village being Penne.
I wanted to make this video to show you what it's like to be in the non touristy side of Italy, where most of the population doesn't speak english and there are little to no tourist to be seen. This is one of my favourite ways to explore new countries as you get a far more authentic experience than going to the highly touristy areas.
There is so much more to offer in Italy and especially I wanted to show how beautiful the region of Abruzzo is because I often get people saying that they haven't even heard of Abruzzo in the first place.

LIVING IN ITALY A memorable day in Pescara, which by the way, is not the capital of Abruzzo.
We love the train system in Italy (most of the time) and how easy it is to do day trips when we need to.
Today we traveled from Termoli to Pescara as we needed to translate some documents from English to Italian for the Italian Citizenship process.
it only took us 50 or so minutes to arrive and once we were there, it was effortless to get around as the train station is in the middle of the city, close to shops, restaurants and cafes.
If you enjoyed this day in Pescara, you may enjoy a walk through this picturesque town. Guglionesi, Molise here:

The climate of ABRUZZO, ITALY. HIKING FROM POPOLI TO ROCCACASALE. HISTORY OF ROCCACASALE TRAVEL VLOG
Roccacasale (locally La Rocca) is a comune in the Province of L'Aquila in the Abruzzo region of Italy. Built on the slopes of the Monte della Rocca in the central Apennines, the village overlooks the Peligna Valley and the town of Sulmona.
The village arose from a small settlement called Casali, which had few inhabitants prior to 925.
As a result of the construction of the fortified rocca, sited to control the entrance to the Valle del Sangro and the Cinquemiglia plain, from Saracen or Byzantine, the centre formed, with the passing of time, into a typical medieval walled village on the slopes directly under the castle. The higher part of the village consists of steep roads leading towards the castle, and linked by narrow passageways between buildings constructed on the naked bedrock. Inside the ancient village are the church of Saint Michael Archangel (consecrated in 1579) and the remains of the baronial palazzo, constructed by the de Sanctis, barons of Roccacasale, next to the church more recently than the castle; very little remains of the palazzo today.

Gorizia - Italy: Tourist Map - What, How and Why to visit it (4K)
If you are planning to visit Gorizia, in Italy, here you’ll find the best tips on things to do in the city, with a sightseeing map on the most relevant points of interest to enjoy, so you can easily imagine and organize your trip: WHAT to see, HOW to plan your visit, and WHY to discover Gorizia.
In this video:
- WHAT are the major attractions that you can't go home without having seen, including Piazza della Vittoria, Gorizia Castle, Palazzo Coronini Cronberg, Transalpina Square, Piuma-Isonzo Park.
- Then, I’ll describe to you HOW to follow a daily-tour to better visit the city, with a clear map of Gorizia and tips for nearby attractions.
Finally, we’ll discover WHY to visit Gorizia, with his rich historic city center.
First of all, suggestions on FOOD and ACCOMMODATIONS:
- Where to have a MEAL: Osteria “Ca’ di Pieri”, Via P. Antonio Codelli 5
ACCOMMODATIONS: Lucciole per Lanterne,
Gorizia is a small city with a great history where you can breathe the Habsburg Mitteleuropean atmosphere.
You can start your trip from Victory Square, the city centre.
After visiting the historic center, Piazza della Vittoria and the Castle by foot, I suggest to use the car to visit the rest of the city.
Thanks to its special geographical location, it has always been culturally influenced by a combination of different civilisations: Latin, Slavic and Germanic.
I loved its timeless atmosphere typical of border regions.
In Gorizia you will breathe the suspended atmosphere typical of a border city: in the Piazza Transalpina, which until 2004 was physically divided by a wall, you will walk with one foot in Italy and one foot in Slovenia. Thanks to its special geographical location, it has always been culturally influenced by a combination of different civilizations: Latin, Slavic and Germanic. Situated on the eastern border, it has always played a major role in Central Europe. Today its streets, architecture and parks are evidence of the important history of this town.
The medieval castle is the heart and symbol of the town. From here, the view sweeps over gentle expanses of hills and all of Gorizia, where medieval, Baroque and 19th century architectures harmoniously co-exist. The Hapsburg bourgeoisie loved to stroll through the streets of the town centre, not surprisingly the town was called the Nice of the Hapsburgs.
Among enchanting parks, such as the Piuma Park on the Isonzo river, the Park of Palazzo Coronini Cronberg (with trees from all over the world) and the Viatori Park, culture is very important too: many museums worth visiting, some of which are peculiar and curious, such as the Province Museums with the Museum of Fashion and of Applied Arts, the First World War Museum and the Archaeological Collection, the Museum of the Middle Ages in Gorizia inside the Castle. Among the city's many historical buildings Palazzo della Torre, Palazzo Attems Petzenstein and Palazzo Werdenberg - Biblioteca Statale Isontina (State Library) stand out.
The history of Gorizia's Jewish community is told at the Synagogue Museum Gerusalemme sull'Isonzo of Via Ascoli.
On the city's hills, in the hamlet of Oslavia, you will find the imposing Ossuary of Oslavia, which contains the mortal remains of Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers who died during the First World War

The village has documented origins back to the 8th or 9th centuries, but the area was known as a mountain retreat since Roman times. Pacentro is one of several towns in the area with a medieval castle due to its position.
The original castle was controlled by the Counts of Valva. There are writings of the era that mention a certain Gualterio, son of Manerio, Count of Valva, who lived in the Castle of Pacentro in 1130.
Another resident of Pacentro was Pope Celestine V. This pope, originally known as Pietro da Morrone, was a 13th-century monk-hermit of the Benedictine order who lived in a cave in the nearby mountains and was renowned for his holiness.
He was elected pope by acclamation in L'Aquila in 1294, but was the only pope to resign after a reign lasting only several months. His image can be seen on a medieval fresco in a lunette on the facade of the Church of San Marcello in Pacentro.
Through its history, the town was successively in the feudal domain of several powerful families; first Caldora from 13th century, then Orsini, then De Sanctis, further on Colonna and then Barberini.
The last one was the family Recupito di Raiano whose family lost their feudal rights with the abolition of feudalism by King Joseph Bonaparte in 1806.
