What’s The BEST Catania to Mt Etna bus & cable car deal?

#etna #mountetna #sicily
Highlights the best tour available for visiting Mt Etna by bus and cable car, must watch review!
Bus tour from Catania to Mt Etna and then caught the cable car up the volcano. We then climbed up Mt Etna as high as we could without a guide, Awesome!
We booked our bus through 'Tourist Dream' €35 includes open sided bus from Catania centre with audio guide in multiple languages. 3 hours free time at Etna. We chose to go up the mountain to 2,500m on the cable car €30 per person and then walked as far as permitted without a guide. Our tour also include a short stop for refreshments at Nicolosi where we purchased delicious arancini with cheese, tomato and we think fish? They were amazing! €2 each.

Other options:
On a budget - the public bus from Catania is very cheap (less than €10 return journey) only 1 bus a day, it departs at 8:15 and returns around 16:00 and you can then walk up from the bus stop if you do not want to pay for cable car.

Treat yourself - there are loads of tour options available, you can even opt for private vehicles from Catania for full day tours, inclusive of cable car, jeep tour to the summit with guided walk and tastings of local produce.

Catania CITY TOUR! One of Sicily's Most Confusing Cities? Part 1

In this episode, we get a little lost in Catania as we attempt to tell the difference between universities and monasteries! We find Sicily's largest church, get lost in the hallways of Europes 2nd largest monastery, and tour a 13th-century royal castle in Catania, Italy.

Catania is the second-largest Sicilian city after Palermo. It was destroyed to the ground seven times by volcanic eruptions and earthquakes from Mount Etna. The most recent catastrophic events in 1169 and 1693 forced the inhabitants to rebuild the city from scratch. The origin of the city dates back to 730 B.C. during the first arrival of ancient Greeks and this was the beginning of a long series of invasions and conquests.

Monte Etna (Italy) Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Monte Etna in Italy.
Mongibello, or 'Beautiful Mountain', that is what the Sicilians lovingly call Mount Etna, the largest and most active volcano in Europe. As it has developed it has gradually taken over more and more land. Today the Etna Massif measures more than one thousand seven hundred and fifty square kilometres. Due to the extremely fertile volcanic earth this area contains an abundance of plant life and each of its numerous vegetation zones has its own unique charm. Huge quantities of carbon dioxide are emitted from the snow-covered summit although the white smoke from its craters is usually quite harmless. Even during its most destructive and dangerous moments the fire spitting Mount Etna, or Mongibello as it is often referred to by the local population, indeed lives up to its reputation of being a truly 'Beautiful Mountain'.

In this video I explore Sicily, Italy. I visit towns in the South East region of Sicily, including Catania, Noto, Syracuse and Ortigia. Sicily is a fascinating island in the South of Italy, with a rich mix of culture, history, food and the friendliest locals in Italy! I explore the bustling fish market in Catania, as well as try some popular Catanese dishes like pasta alla norma and eggplant caponata, I also feel adventurous enough to try the Catania specialty, horse meat burgers! I then visit the beautiful region of Noto and do some wine tasting of the famous nero d'avola red wine at a beautiful vineyard. Noto is a beautiful town known for it's sandstone cathedrals. I also visit the seaside town of Syracuse and Ortigia which have some incredible ancient Greek sites like the archeological park of Syracuse.

A HUGE thank you to Renato for such a fun tour of Catania, I highly recommend his tour. Here is the link:

Catania & Etna - Italy | Sicily | 18 Things to Do | Travel video | GoPro 11 & DJI Mini 3 Pro

The island of Sicily and its city of Catania is amazing. I really enjoyed my 5 days trip there. And of course, I spend one day to go to the mount Etna. Etna is really intresting vulcano and it is intresting to visit this huge area. I was surprised how huge is the park around the volcano Etna. I spent practically the whole day there and it was a really amazing experience. I used the city bus from the center for 6 EUR and then used the cable car for 30 EUR. I had a lot of time and it didn't make sense to buy another bus ride for 36 EUR. Plus it was nice to walk around Etna.

I enjoyed classic summer days in Catania and stayed longer to enjoy the sun. Catania is the perfect city for autumn days in Europe. During my stay in Catania the temperature was around 24 degrees and I could walk around in t-shirts and shorts again. Catania is a small city, worth visiting the Piazza del Duomo with Fountain of the Elephant, Catedrale Sant'Agata and Castello Ursino. Of course I had many pizzas in Catania. Italy and food always are best combination.

Samozřejmě Italie a jídlo jdou vždy super kombinovat a já ochutnal několik místních pizz.

Enjoy my video from Catania in which you can see 18 Things to Do in Catania / 18 míst, která musíte vidět a navštívit v Catanii:

Sicily by car part 4: Nicolosi, Etna, Taormina

Video from our holidaytrip by car through Sicily in may/june 2013. See the playlist of all parts: From day 10-12 we travelled from Piazza Armerina to Nicolosi, for visiting Mount Etna the most nearby town on the South side of the Etna. We stayed at the Etna Hut, a comfortable hotel with a view in Nicolosi. The owner provided us with the right information for visiting Mount Etna. We went by car to the cable-station, that brought us half way. From there on we took a truck to reach the top, where a guide was waiting. Beautiful scenery, used as background for movies like Star Wars. On the top it was windy and cold. The snow smelled like sulphuric acid. From mount Etna we went to nearby villages en further on to Taormina on our way down south to Avola. Filmed with Panasonic SD900

Family travel in Sicily: Catania and Mount Etna!

Full time family travel around the world has taken us to our fifth country - Italy. For this video we moved off the boot and onto the ball - Sicily is the place of some of Matt's ancestry and it was fascinating to experience Catania, a city on the east coast. With the street market right outside our front door as well as a challenging climb up Mount Etna which lies just north of the city, it wasn't hard to see past Sicily's rough exterior to her inner beauty.
