We start in Catania, head south to the province of Siracusa and Ortigia, Noto, Marzamemi and other smaller towns. This area has the best beaches of the East coast. We also go to Ragusa and Modica. Then Caltagirone for ceramics, Piazza Armerina for the Roman villa , and north to Giardini Naxos and Taormina. SEVERAL Bonus towns as well in this video. We also have some simple travel advise. What to see in Bagheria, Palermo SICILY!
On this episode of You, Me and Sicily we take you to Bagheria in the Province of Palermo. We visit the Mother Church, Butera Palace and several of the grand villas. The villa Palagonia is perhaps the best known . It is an unusual villa also called Villa of Monsters. at the entrance we are greeted by two monster like statues . In fact inside the property there are more than 200 statues of dragons and other fearsome beasts.Other include Villa Cattolica where there is a “Museum of Contemporary Art”, dedicated to Renato Guttuso. Besides Guttoso Bagheria is the birthplace of many well-known 20th century figures like photographer Ferdinando Scianna know for photographing sicilians film director Giuseppe Tornatore. portrayed his love for his town in the multiple award-winning film Cinema Paradiso in 1989 . We also stop at two local markets, and a street food vendor.
