Did you know that over 20 million people are living in Lagos?! It is hands down one of the most hectic, chaotic, and vibrant places I've ever been with a LOT of stories to tell. I'm overwhelmed.
My local friend and YouTuber named Tayo (his channel linked below) has been taking me all around his bustling city of Lagos and we've had an absolute blast together. Surprisingly, this was one of the hardest videos I've ever made because it's REALLY challenging to shoot content on these streets. People don't like being on camera here and they make a huge commotion in the streets and ask for money (etc) whenever they see it from a distance.

In this video I’ll be showing you the lagos you never see in the media. It has become the norm with traditional and social media to portray Africa in a certain type of way. If its crude and underdeveloped, that is what they are willing to showcase. I find this disturbing and rather misleading as every nation or continent has good and bad sides. It’s very important that this narrative must change so as to showcase the beauty of the continent to the world. Africa is not just about wars, hunger and starvation.
so today, I flew my Dji drone mini 2 to showcase the skyline of ikoyi lagos and it revealed a lot about perspective.
Lagos as you may know is one of the fastest growing cities in the world with over 20 million inhabitants. Lagos is also the economic capital of Africa is home to some Africa’s biggest businesses and billionaires. It has a unique blend of energy and innovative drive- you will never experience a city like lagos, I promise you.
So if you ever think of visiting the city, please come with an open mind as you may be shocked to discover that amidst all its challenges, its a great place to be for the adventure, high end fashion and great nightlife.
And let’s I forget, the best music in the world now comes from this city- Afrobeats. You may come across club bangers sung by the likes of wiz kid, burnaboy, Davido, ayra Starr, tems, ckay. Actually there’s a glut of upcoming ones you don’t even know about just yet!
Lagos also happens to be the commercial capital of Nigeria, that means mind boggling trade numbers are recorded in the state but is still under reported as Lagos presently enjoys the status of the 5th largest economy in Africa and that’s Nigeria’s smallest state in terms of geographic area- that’s my cool way of saying Lagos is densely populated.
Lagos Nigeria is the heart of the African continent.
