The Craziest City In The World - Dhaka, Bangladesh ????????

BANGLADESH - My next country in South Asia ????????

Welcome to the middle of the chaos, pollution, overpopulation, and the land of smiling, super kind, and hard-working locals. Bangladeshi people have been very welcoming and curious since foreign tourism in the country is almost nonexistent.

Exploration started in the capital city - Dhaka - the tenth-largest and seventh-most densely populated city in the world. I love so many things about chaos, street noises, smells, the inability to walk in a straight line, and the new environment, which actives all my senses for survival. Dhaka's craziness exceeded any experiences I have ever had in any big city, including Old Delhi.

Travel in Bangladesh is unique. It’s not an easy or mainstream destination to travel to. Also, the visa process is not easy to process, and your shining western passport would not help much. But exploring the other side and avoiding the average has always been my goal with South Asia travel, which is exactly what makes Bangladesh so special.

Welcome to another country series! ✈️

Bangladesh is a land of troubles: the water here is black, the traffic is insane, the people are poor, and the metro only goes one way; children don’t go to school, because they have to help their parents earn a living, and men sell their girlfriends to brothels. Bangladesh is also a place where ships from all over the world end their “life”, and where manual labor is so cheap that it is getting scary.

With all the problems of Bangladesh, will I be able to see anything good in this small country in South Asia? Let’s find out!

Does BANGLADESH look RICHER than INDIA? | Dhaka | Bangladesh | 2021

After traveling around the world extensively, I've discovered that the beauty of a city isn't just in its skyscrapers or its planning or in its landscaping. For a city to be beautiful it needs to tick many boxes.

A city that might look very beautiful from a drone view might be one of the most horrible city to walk in. A city with a lot of concrete and boxy skyscrapers might give one a much less dynamic experience than a city with less number of skyscrapers but ones that are architecturally rich. A city which is a concrete jungle might be much less livable compared to a city that is balanced with both greenery and concrete. A city that has everything could be unlivable if it is full of crime. A city that has supertall skyscrapers of concrete might look much more dull than a city with medium sized glass structures. A city with skyscrapers but solely for office spaces could be much more boring than cities whose commercial projects have shops and restaurants in all of their ground floors. Small factors like the regularity of the buildings being painted to allowing informal sector businesses to do business in close proximity to massive commercial developments, can all bit by bit play a big role in the beautification and flavor of the city. Even something as simple as noise pollution can destroy an image of a city. So, the question remains. Is Bangladesh already looking richer than India?

Please don't hesitate to leave your comment below. Thank you.

Sincerely,
The Bangladeshi Wanderluster

Dhaka City: The Vibrant Heart of Bangladesh with a Growing Population

Dhaka is the capital and largest city of Bangladesh with a rich history. It was once a prosperous city. In 1700, Dhaka's population was about one million. However, invader raids, famine, and natural disasters caused Dhaka's population to shrink by nearly five times in one century. By the end of the 19th century, Dhaka had only 70,000 inhabitants. The new growth of Dhaka began only in the middle of the 20th century. This is because Bangladesh was part of colonial India until 1947. After the partition of India, the territory of modern Bangladesh became East Pakistan. Bangladesh was proclaimed an independent state in 1971. Dhaka is the capital of the republic. It has the president's residence, the parliament, and government offices.

European City Of Bangladesh | RAJUK Uttara Model Town I Building Emerging Dhaka City | Travel tuner

Dhaka is the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. The dwellings required to support Dhaka's large population have become inadequate. Because of this, the residential areas of Dhaka city are overpopulated and dirty.

Planned extension of the city limits is being undertaken under the Uttara Model Town Project with the objectives of accommodating the growing population and maintaining a level of service to the people. During the course of the project circa 2,150 acres (8.7 km2) of land were acquired. About 10,000 residential plots and 225,512 apartments including amenities and urban facilities were provided.

The entire Uttara Thana project is being undertaken by the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), the Capital Development Authority of Bangladesh.

history of dhaka l historical place in dhaka l bangladesh capital city l dhaka l asia l bangladesh

#Dhaka (/ˈdɑːkə/ DAH-kə or /ˈdækə/ DAK-ə, Bengali: [ˈɖʱaka]) (ঢাকা), formerly known as Dacca, is the capital and the largest city of #Bangladesh. It is the ninth-largest and the sixth-most densely populated city in the world, with a population of 8.9 million residents within the city limits, and a population of over 21 million residents in the Greater Dhaka Area. Dhaka is the economic, #political, and #cultural center of Bangladesh, and is one of the major cities in South #Asia, the largest city in Eastern South Asia and among the Bay of Bengal countries; and one of the largest cities among OIC countries. As part of the Bengal plain, the city is bounded by the Buriganga River, Turag River, Dhaleshwari River and Shitalakshya River.

The area of Dhaka has been inhabited since the first millennium. The city rose to prominence in the 17th century as a provincial capital and commercial center of the #Mughal #Empire. Dhaka was the capital of the proto-industrialised Mughal Bengal for 75 years (1608–39 and 1660–1704). As the center of the muslin trade in Bengal, it was one of the most prosperous cities on the Indian subcontinent.

The origins of the name for Dhaka are uncertain. Once dhak trees were very common in the area and the name may have originated from it.

The history of urban settlement in the area of modern-day Dhaka dates to the first millennium.

The Mughal Empire governed the region during the early modern period. Under Mughal rule, the Old City of Dhaka grew on the banks of the Buriganga River. Dhaka was proclaimed the capital of Mughal Bengal in 1608. Islam Khan Chishti was the first administrator of the city. Khan named it Jahangir Nagar (City of Jahangir) in honour of the Emperor Jahangir.

Bengal was an affluent region in the Mughal era. According to economic historian Indrajit Ray, it was globally prominent in industries such as textile manufacturing and shipbuilding. It was an exporter of silk and cotton textiles, steel, saltpeter, and agricultural and industrial produce.

With the defeat of the Nawab of Bengal at the Battle of Buxar in 1764, the East India Company gained the right to collect taxes from the principality of Bengal. The city formally passed to the control of the EIC in 1793 and Dhaka became connected to the mercantile networks of the British Empire. With the dawn of the Industrial Revolution in Britain, Dhaka became a leading center of the jute trade, as Bengal accounted for the largest share of the world's jute production.

Dhaka, or Dacca, under British rule in 1861.
Dhaka suffered stagnation and decline beginning during the mid 19th-century. Its muslin industry was destroyed by high rates of taxation, restriction of trade and forced imports of foreign-manufactured textiles. Many of the city's weavers starved to death in famines. The Dhaka Cantonment was established as a base for the British Indian Army. The British developed the modern city around Ramna, Shahbag Garden and Victoria Park. A modern civic water system was introduced in 1874. In 1885, the Dhaka State Railway was opened with a 144 km metre gauge (1000 mm) rail line connecting Mymensingh and the Port of Narayanganj through Dhaka. The city later became a hub of the Eastern Bengal State Railway. The first film shown in Dhaka was screened on the riverfront Crown Theatre on 17 April 1898. The film show was organized by the Bedford Bioscope Company. The electricity supply began in 1901.

Dhaka was declared the national capital by the Constituent Assembly of Bangladesh in 1972. The post-independence period witnessed rapid growth as Dhaka attracted migrant workers from across rural Bangladesh. 60% of population growth has been due to rural migration.

Bangladesh pioneered the formation of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and hosted its first summit in Dhaka in 1985. A mass uprising in 1990 led to the return of parliamentary democracy. Dhaka has hosted a trilateral summit between India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in 1998; the summit of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation in 1999 and conferences of the Commonwealth, SAARC, the OIC and United Nations agencies during various years.

Dhaka is one of the fastest growing megacities in the world. It is predicted to be one of the world's largest metropolises by 2025, along with #Tokyo, Mexico City, #Shanghai, #Beijing and #NewYork City. Dhaka remains one of the poorest megacities. Most of its population are rural migrants, including climate refugees. Blue-collar workers are often housed in slums. Congestion is one of the most prominent features of modern Dhaka. In 2014, it was reported that only 7% of the city was covered by roads. The first phase of the Dhaka Metro is planned for opening in 2021, coinciding with the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence.
