Tokyo Hidden Spots: A Grungy Local Neighbourhood

Sangenjaya is a neighbourhood 2 stations away from Shibuya, although it is close to the city it has a nice neighbourly vibe, but with a grungy edge.

There are so many things to do here - nice cafes, the shotengai shopping street, free observation deck where you can a great view of Tokyo and of course my favourite, the back alleys aka yokocho.

Places visited:

・Komeda Coffee

・Sangenjaya Shotengai Shopping Street

・Carrot Tower Free Observation Deck

・Sangenjaya Sankaku Chitai
In these back alley ways (yokocho) there are many restaurants and Japanese styled bars (izakaya).

They are all around Tokyo - here are just a few.

Harmonica Yokocho (Kichijoji)
Omoide Yokocho (Shinjuku)
Ebisu Yokocho
Yurakucho Sanchoku Inshokugai
Kimchi Yokocho (Koreatown Ueno)
Ameya Yokocho
Sugamo Variety Yokocho
Nabeya Yokocho (Nakano)
Nonbe Yokocho (Shibuya)
Amazake Yokocho (Ningyocho)
Okazu Yokocho (Torigoe)
Sankaku Chitai (SangenJaya)
Daiichi Ichiba (Koenji)
Suzunari Yokocho (Shimokita)
Hoppy Dori (Asakusa)
Ebisu Yokocho

So go out there and get exploring :)

Situated in the heart of Ota Ward in southern Tokyo, Denenchofu is considered one of the most exclusive residential neighborhoods in Tokyo.

Because of its homes that are inspired by the neoclassical Swiss, Japanese, and Edwardian architecture, this district is a place where every person can experience an atmosphere totally different from other typical Japanese neighborhoods.

Relaxing nature and amazing structures are perhaps two of Denenchofu's most salient features. However, many more reasons make this residential area a must-consider when thinking about moving to and buying a property in Japan.

Read the rest of this article and discover why many well-known politicians, sports stars, celebrities, and business leaders have made their home Denenchofu.
If you are looking for a neighborhood that can match an upscale European-style suburb with beautiful gardens and posh streets, Denenchofu is the place to be as it was planned to be exactly like London. The neighborhood is not only residential but is also home to some of Japan’s insanely large corporations. If you walk the streets of Denenchofu, you can find houses of business moguls, sports professionals, movie stars, and other great personalitie.
