North Korea is (by a long shot) the world's most interesting country. I visited the capital city of Pyongyang in April 2017, way back when I first got my hands on a video camera, and luckily I was able to document it. It was a wild trip, to say the least, and I'm glad that I can share my experiences with you in this video.

Buckle up for the next 9 minutes as I take you deep inside Pyongyang, North Korea to see how many things I could buy for $10 USD or less -- I think you will be quite surprised!

Is Puerto Rico the U.S.A? They have U.S. passports, use U.S. dollars, and send mail with the US postal service… but they speak Spanish, aren’t allowed to vote for President, and are VERY proud of their Latino culture.

Forgotten Japanese Guam Soldier

In 1944, the Japanese sent a large naval force to invade the American-protected island of Guam. This video tells the story of the invasion, and the soldiers and civilians who fought back.

Forgotten Japanese Guam Soldier is a short documentary about the 1944 Japanese invasion of Guam, and the brave soldiers and civilians who fought back against the invaders. You'll learn about the history of Guam, the military action that took place, and the lasting legacy of the invasion. This video is suitable for students studying World War II, Guam, or Japanese history.
Shōichi Yokoi (横井 庄一, Yokoi Shōichi, 31 March 1915 – 22 September 1997) was a sergeant in the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) during the Second World War, and was one of the last three Japanese holdouts to be found after the end of hostilities in 1945. He was discovered in the jungles of Guam on 24 January 1972, almost 28 years after U.S. forces had regained control of the island in 1944.

Yokoi had spent the past 27 years eking out a meager existence in the jungles of Guam, where he’d fled to evade capture following American forces’ seizure of the island in August 1944. According to historian Robert Rogers, Yokoi was one of around 5,000 Japanese soldiers who refused to surrender to the Allies after the Battle of Guam, preferring life on the lam to the shame of being detained as a prisoner of war. Though the Allies captured or killed the majority of these holdouts within a few months, some 130 remained in hiding by the end of World War II in September 1945. Yokoi, who only rejoined society after being overpowered by two local fishermen in January 1972, was one of the last stragglers to surrender, offering an extreme example of the Japanese Bushidō philosophy’s emphasis on honor and self-sacrifice.

1. Travel - Flying from Norfolk, VA to Guam will take about 18-19 hours of travel time (yikes!) With this also being the first time I will travel with a baby on my own, I took advantage of reserving bulkhead seats for the longer flights, as these can accommodate a bassinet. For the shorter flights, I upgraded to Economy Plus seats since they have more legroom and will be more comfortable for me as I would have to hold my baby on my lap.

2. Lodging - For majority of my stay, I will be at my mom's house. I will also be checked into a hotel for a few nights during my sister's wedding events. I definitely wanted to move around the island a bit so I also looked on AirBnB and found an awesome spot in Tamuning which is right on Dungca's Beach, one of my favorite spots! I figured, why not treat myself a little bit with a venue right by the beach?

3. Revisiting favorite spots and experiences
- Jimmy Dee's: one of my favorite beach spots in Tamuning where we would go for good vibes and fun activities such as frisbee, beer pong, awesome music, doggy play time, and beautiful sunsets
- Two Lovers Point: a cliffside tourist site in Harmon/Dededo which also holds a special place in my heart because my husband and I got married there :) You'll find an breathtaking view of the ocean from their lookout point!
- Simply Food: a vegetarian and vegan grocery store and lunch counter in Agana Heights. I had worked here from almost a year before leaving Guam, and my coworkers really had come to feel like family. Not only was it a great place to work, but their food is absolutely delicious! I can't wait to indulge in their daily lunch specials, hearty soups, and vegetarian baked goods. I might buy out all of their zucchini muffins when I swing by, haha!
- Horse and Cow: a restaurant and sports bar in Tamuning. I was the bartender here for over 4 years and enjoyed all my experiences, both as an employee AND as a customer! It was just one of those fun places with awesome food and drinks and especially bar games.
- Wednesday nights at Chamorro Village: Wednesday night is the big night market held at Chamorro Village in Agana. With awesome food vendors, craftsmanship, local entertainment and activities, it's definitely something every newcomer to Guam has to experience!
- Capricciosa: one of my favorite restaurants featuring a fusion of Italian and Japanese flavors.
- Snorkeling: Of course I had to include my favorite water activity while I lived on Guam. There are so many beautiful snorkeling spots around the island where you can safely swim and also catch a glimpse of the wonderful marine life. Some of my favorite spots were Fish Eye, Gab Gab, Old Wives Beach, and Ague Cove. There are many more that I'm sure I haven't see yet, so be sure to explore as much as you can!

4. Wish list/new experiences
- Village fiesta: I don't know if there will be any public fiestas happening while we're visiting, but attending one is always a treat. You can expect to experience delicious homemade dishes, friendly people, and awesome fiesta dance music.
- Valley of the Latte Tour: Located in down south in Talofofo, this is a cultural tour and adventure park that has become a hot tourist attraction for newcomers, and I haven't attended yet! Trying to keep close to my roots, I definitely have this on my itinerary to gain a culturally educational experience.
- Rhythmic cycling: Before we left Guam in 2021, I had gotten into rhythmic cycling which became a big part of my workout regimen. When we left, my sister ended up training and becoming an instructor so I was so sad to be missing out on her classes :( BUT the great news is that she is opening her own studio Made Wild, and it'll be in full swing by the time we visit, so I'll be able to finally take one of her classes (or a few)!
- New dance video: The first Guam video I made to kick off my channel was Dancing Around Guam and I wanted to do a new one for my visit back and incorporate some of my fellow dance colleagues this time. Not only willI get to feature the talented dance community on Guam, but I'll also get to showcase the island's beauty all over again!

THINGS TO DO IN GUAM - BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN GUAM // MERIZO PIER - 4K

Upon visiting Guam, you always want to check out spectacular, unique locations that really stand out with their incredible visuals and unique appeal. The Merizo Pier is located in Merizo, it’s right near the sea, and it does manage to stand out with its incredible set of visuals. A lot of people come to the Merizo Pier because it’s a great spot for diving and swimming. On top of that, you can just come here, relax and unwind, which is always an important thing to take into consideration. The town itself is small, it has under 2000 inhabitants, and it does bring that colonial, unique vibe that a lot of people like and enjoy. It’s a serene location with plenty of cool things to see. It’s unlike anything you can find on the market, and the results themselves can indeed be second to none. Plus, it just leads to an amazing, unique set of benefits, which is exactly what you want to have here.

GUAM | Things I Miss About Guam | If I visit again, these would be the first things I do!

#guam #guamlife #islandlife

It's been about 9 or 10 months since I left my beautiful island home Guam, and now I'm definitely missing certain things that I can't get anywhere else. If you're a newcomer or you may be moving to the island soon, here are my top 8 things I miss about Guam!

1. Guam beaches! It is an understatement to say that Guam beaches are some of the most beautiful sites you'll ever experience. Not only are they gorgeous, but they're also so easy to get to! My favorite beach for fun, drinking, and sports was definitely Dungca's Beach next to the Jimmy Dee's bar in Tamuning. For quiet and calm scenery, I loved places like the Inarajan Pools, Lotte Beach, Alupang Drive, and so many more. These were perfect settings for meditation or a nice drive away from your busy lifestyle to just be one with nature.

2. My favorite dishes from certain restaurants! Granted you may be able to find dishes similar to these, but of course you can't get an exact match. Some favorites include the spicy tomato penne from Capricciosa, Manicotti and Fettuccine Alfredo from Vitale's, and the soups from Simply Food.

3. Fiesta plates! If you ever get invited to a village fiesta or family fiesta, you must go! You'll fall in love with all the local dishes prepared. Some of my favorite items are Chamoru BBQ, red rice, kelaguen, and pancit.

4. Coconut trees and flame trees! You know you're in a tropical paradise when there are coconut trees everywhere LOL! The more sentimental reason I miss coconut trees is because our dog Max loved playing with coconuts and husking them :(

5. Carabao Brewing's Coconut Porter! Living in Virginia now, yes I have access to so many breweries, but I have yet to find a dark beer that comes close to that awesome porter on Guam. However, that does make it more special because knowing that's the only place I can get that beer, it's just going to taste that much sweeter whenever I get to pay a visit back :)

6. My favorite bars! My favorite nightlife spots would have to be Horse and Cow, Old Traditions, and Porky's Bar. Horse and Cow has a great food and beer selection, but it also has a lot of fun elements for you active adults, like pool tables, a jukebox, video games, and beer pong tables. Old Traditions is located in the quieter side of Tumon, and it was our favorite spot to play darts, foosball, beer pong, and enjoy live music when they had it. It was also one of the very few places that allowed us to bring our dog Max with us, so that was pretty awesome! Porky's Bar in the busier part of Tumon was our go-to for live rock music, from 80's to acoustic, you name it. The positive vibe from everyone just having a great time, plus the awesome service from the friendly bartenders, made this an easy spot to have a fun night.

7. Rockit Ride! This rhythmic cycling studio was a huge part of my workout regimen. I would do 4-5 classes a week because I loved it so much! I haven't really looked around Virginia much to find a place like this, but I'm sure they got to be around here. More so, I'm so sad that I left when my sister started training to be an instructor and is now one of their main ones! I'd love to take her class if I get the chance to visit.

8. Snorkeling! I never knew how much I loved this until I couldn't get the same experience out here. Guam's waters are not only safe and warm, but they're also so clear, which means you can see exactly what you're jumping into LOL! Once you get in though, there are so many species of marine life--from jellyfish to turtles to black-tip sharks, you're always bound to see something whenever you go snorkeling on Guam. My favorite spots would have to be Fish Eye, Ague Cove, Gun Beach, and Gab Gab, but of course, there are so many other awesome snorkeling locations to discover!
