Bern, the capital city of Switzerland, is built around a crook in the Aare River. It traces its origins back to the 12th century, with medieval architecture preserved in the Altstadt (Old Town). The Swiss Parliament and diplomats meet in the Neo-Renaissance Bundeshaus (Federal Palace). Bern, the enchanting capital of Switzerland, is a city steeped in history and resplendent with timeless beauty. Nestled in the heart of the country, this picturesque destination offers a captivating blend of architectural marvels, vibrant culture, and breathtaking natural landscapes. One of the city's most captivating features is its meticulously preserved Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. As I strolled through its narrow cobblestone streets, I was transported back in time, surrounded by majestic medieval buildings adorned with ornate fountains.
One cannot speak of Bern without mentioning the awe-inspiring view of the Aare River. As I stood on the iconic bridges, such as Nydegg Bridge, Untertor Bridge and Kirchenfeld Brideg, I was mesmerized by the sight of the emerald-green waters gently meandering through the city. The river gracefully embraced by Bern's historic architecture created an unforgettable panorama. It was a symphony of nature and human ingenuity harmoniously blending together.
My trip to Bern was a delightful experience that left an indelible mark on my heart. As I bid farewell to this enchanting city, I carried with me cherished memories and an ardent desire to return and uncover more of Bern's timeless allure.

Bern is a beautiful Swiss city. It is home of the Swiss parliament called Bundeshaus and has a pretty old town that is also quite big. The old town is UNESCO world heritage and definitely worth a visit. In the old town of Bern there are many speciality shops both at street level and underground! The locals are easy going and like to enjoy life in Switzerland, no wonder when they live in such a beautiful Swiss city! The walking tour takes you through the roads and alley of Bern's old town, we visit the parliament building, many fountains and of course the bear pit with live bears is also on the list.
It is easy to travel to Bern as it is connected with many train lines. Also in Bern there are a lot of buses and trams to get around!

Not many cities have managed to retain their historic features quite as successfully as Bern. The old town of Bern is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and thanks to its 6 kilometres of arcades - the locals refer to them as 'Lauben' - boasts on of the longest weather-sheltered shopping promenades in Europe. Although Bern has a very good public transport network (as you will notice in this video) it is best to explore the city centre on foot.
