SUDAN VLOG - FIRST WEEK | Initial Challenges in Khartoum | الأسبوع الأول في السودان

After an interesting adventure crossing the Egypt/Sudan border by bus, we found ourselves in a country like no other. First and foremost amongst our problems was the fact that the ATM's don't accept foreign cards! We were certainly NOT prepared for this as we only had $95USD in cash with us coming from Egypt.

So, our first week certainly presented us with some problems. So far on our travels, things usually fall into place for us pretty easily. But Sudan has certainly challenged our senses, most notably our patience!

ABOUT US:

HI THERE! WE ARE JILL AND CHRIS!
In 2017 we packed up our life, and quit the 9-5 to head out into the world. We came with no expectations, we only wanted to experience life. Since then, we have packed more fun and adventure into our lives than we ever could have imagined.

Being on the road now for over three years, has brought with it the freedom to explore what it is that we really want to do with our lives, the time to pay attention to the things that are truly important to us, and the adventure to really make life fun and interesting once again.

We left seeking an exciting life, and we have not been disappointed!

We mostly travel without a plan, we just let the chips fall where they may, then figure it out as we go. We find that in doing this, the most unexpected and interesting opportunities present themselves, and it truly keeps us on our toes.

We are on a mission of #paintinghtheplanet one mural at a time and we enjoy spreading love through our art whenever we find the opportunity to do so.

By clicking below, you will learn about how our drastic change of lifestyle came to be, and you can sign up for our newsletter and stay up to date on where ever we end up in the world!

Eating Pigeons in CAIRO, EGYPT With Dad!

Thanks to Keeps for sponsoring this video! Head to to get 50% off your first Keeps order.

In this vlog, my dad and I meet up with my Egyptian buddy Joe, and we set off to explore Islamic Cairo. But before doing that, we stopped for some haircuts in Downtown Cairo, then made our way over to Al-Azhar Mosque and Khan el Khalili market. We also tried some local Egyptian snacks and of course, one of my favorite Egyptian foods, hammam mahshi, or pigeon stuffed with rice.

Reach out to my friend Joe if you're thinking of traveling to Egypt:

توجه إلى ساحة أتينا بالخرطوم Drive to Atina Square in Khartoum

Atina Square in Khartoum is a place where you can find a number of shops selling Sudan's famous wooden sculpture art. This is a square, although not very well maintained, where you will find the company of beautiful pigeons. In this video streets of Khartoum are covered that eventually leads to the famous Atina Square.

Surviving the Arabian desert in summer ???????? mE 75

I ride from Karak to Dana. On the way, I cross a long and deep canyon. The heat is unbearable. As I rejoin the plateau exhausted, I finally find a place to eat a shawarma with friendly people. Then, I camp in a field of almond trees before reaching Dana on the following day.

$2 Egyptian Koshary ????????

Free travel creator community:
Travel Creator School:

Giza, Egypt ➖ When I arrived in Egypt, so many people told me I needed to try Koshary... the staple food of Egypt. So I knew I had to find the best one that Egypt has to offer.

After asking a few locals where the best Koshary in Egypt is, I heard a man in the distance yelling KOSHARY at the top of his lungs. I've never felt such a need to enter a restaurant, so off I went and was greeted with kindness.

I ordered a plate of Koshary and the legend explained to me what the email consisted of, and even showed me where it's made. They assured me it was the #1 Koshary in Egypt... and let me tell you... it was DAMN good!

Literally, everything I love all in one, pasta, lentils, rice and noodles, all mixed in with a delicious tomato sauce. It was heaven!
