**I made this video 3 years ago, but only shared it to Facebook...so I wanted to post it for all you guys here on YouTube! Please excuse the fast paced editing and shaky camera -- I was a newbie back then**

BE HONEST... could you tell me anything about TAJIKISTAN?

I couldn’t tell you much either, before arriving here yesterday... My first day wandering around Tajikistan's capital city of Dushanbe was off-beat and eye opening. I was stopped by the police TWICE for taking photos & videos (I don't know why).. so it was a challenge to make this video! Dushanbe is a very different place than anywhere I’ve ever been (in a cool & unique way), and I’m excited to see more of the country over the coming days.

Why I Love ALGERIA ???????? (Unseen Footage!)

This is my 2nd YouTube channel, if you don't already subscribe to my main channel, you can check it out here:

ALGERIA is one of my absolute favorite countries in Africa and the Arab world! Contrary to what you may have heard in the news, it's actually very safe and has some of the most hospitable people on the planet.

In this video of UNSEEN footage, I randomly met a white Algerian and a black Algeria, and we spoke about unity and togetherness. The first thing I told them was that I am Jewish and American, and they welcomed me with open arms. This is reason why I love travel, moments like these stay in my head forever!

Getting into LIBYA ???????? (unseen footage)

This is my 2nd YouTube channel, if you don't already subscribe to my main channel, you can check it out here:

Out of the 191 countries I've been to, LIBYA has been the most challenging and most expensive visa I've ever gotten (by far). My anxiety levels were at an all time high before entering Libya -- mostly because I had to pretend to be an oil consultant (Libya only issues business visas, not tourist visas). If they found out that I was a journalist, then you may not have heard from me for a long, long time.

In this video, you will find some of the unseen shots that I took as I flew from Tunis, Tunisia to Tripoli, Libya during the height of the Libyan Civil War. I do not recommend traveling there until the situation clears up.

How Afghan Refugees are Treated in Tajikistan (2022)

Since Tajikistan is a neighboring country to Afghanistan, thousands of refugees are taking shelter for years. I came to visit Vahdad, a city next to the capital Dushanbe to interview local Afghan people about their experiences in Tajikistan.

I Met a Real Life Cannibal in India

Grab your 'Just Go' Push Pin Map Bundle!

Hi Friends! I have spent the better part of the last decade trying to meet a real-life cannibal, and I finally have completed my goal here in Varanasi, India. For real! His name is Baba and he is an Aghori man who lives on the banks of the Ganges River - the site where more than 300 bodies are cremated every day and their ashes are thrown into the river. Varanasi is the most spiritual place in India, and for Hindus, it's the holiest place to have their bodies burned.

Baba explained to me the various reasons why he eats humans (spoiler alert: he said the heart is the best part of the body) - and what I discovered will leave you speechless.

Thank you Shubham for taking me around Varanasi. If you need a guide to India, contact him!

WHY I LOVE TAJIKISTAN ????????(Unseen Footage)

This is my 2nd YouTube channel, if you don't already subscribe to my main channel, you can check it out here:

I visited Tajikistan a few years ago and I think about it often to this day. In fact, whenever someone asks me what is my favorite country in Central Asia - I always say Tajikistan! The main reason why I love it so much is for the hospitality. The people are so unbelievably kind, as you'll see in this video!

The footage you see here hasn't been seen before until now. It's been sitting on my hard drive for 3 years, so I'm happy to bring these stories to life again! Hope you enjoy, and if you've never been before, then add Tajikistan to your bucket list!

This video is a different approach than my usual, fast-paced videos with lots of cuts and edits.

It captures a raw, authentic moment of me asking these lovely women for a selfie outside of a mosque in Dushanbe, Tajikistan -- and then falling into their trap to buy a local hat (which I happen to love)!

Moral of the story? People are friendly, despite not speaking the same language or having anything in common. It's the truth! I love Tajikistan!

LET’S CHANGE THAT!
Buckle-in for what’s going to be a wild recap of my adventures in Tajikistan with this premier episode which starts right at the beginning!
As a former Soviet republic and one of the least-visited of the ‘Stan’ countries, Tajikistan packs a punch of experiences ranging from exclusive to bizarre.

I walk you through my arrival experiences, getting ready for our trip which would take as all the way to the fringe of rural communities in Afghanistan, and help you sustain your own travel inspirations as we wait for an end to the COVID pandemic and the return to normal life.

You will experience my unexpected moments and re-live my excitement at all the things we encountered in subsequent episodes.

Drop me a line in the comments if you’d like to discuss anything that surprised you…or even if you see something you don’t agree with.

How Night life in Tajikistan looks like (Walking tour)

This video showing The city of Tajikistan, how people of Tajik live their life.

Tajikistan is a country in Central Asia surrounded by Afghanistan, China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. It’s known for rugged mountains, popular for hiking and climbing. The Fann Mountains, near the national capital Dushanbe, have snow-capped peaks that rise over 5,000 meters. The range encompasses the Iskanderkulsky Nature Refuge, a notable bird habitat named for Iskanderkul, a turquoise lake formed by glaciers.

Wonders of Tajikistan's Wakhan Valley: Its People!

SO...if you've come over from the previous episode (see 'The Trip is in Trouble,' Episode 7 of the series), yes! We made it out! ????????????????????
If you don't know what I'm talking about, I encourage you to check it out and watch that cliffhanger ending. ????

Now, remember: to keep seeing Content like this, Subscribe to my channel and check out my other videos. Like, Comment, Share with friends and get ready for my series on Bosnia & Herzegovina starting very soon! Who knows, you might pick up some Bucket List ideas from right here!
????????????????????????

AND NOW TO THIS WEEK'S EPISODE...

If I could point to ONE region in Tajikistan's wild east that possesses the ideals of paradise...peace, simplicity, and the kindness of people...it would undoubtedly be Tajikistan's Wakhan Valley.

To the casual student of geography, the Wakhan Valley is that southern loop of Tajikistan that hugs the border communities of Afghanistan for hundreds of kilometres east and west.
To the passionate student of culture and paradox, it becomes so much more! It is here that the border communities are so close to each other, you can lean out of your window in Tajikistan and almost kiss your neighbour in Afghanistan.
It is here that the players of the Great Game descended a century and a half ago and carved up the Nation of Wakhan, scattering it across Tajikistan, Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan...creating mirror images of communities divided by arbitrary lines on a map, two reflections that were once one.

In this episode, we shall take a peek at the curious people we met in the valley: their customs, their language, their heritage.
You will have to wait till NEXT week's episode to witness the raw beauty of the landscape, understand the intricacies of the Great Game, and wonder when YOU shall get to enjoy all this in person! ????

Drop me a line in the comments with your reactions to this latest installment of my Tajikistan series.
